Chapter 157 - Lost ID

One morning, Wise was about to get up and make breakfast for everyone when he suddenly noticed that the twin sisters beside him were gone.

He immediately realized something, got up, dressed, washed, and went downstairs. As expected, just like the past few days, the sisters had already opened the store.

They had even prepared breakfast, and Heddy sat at the dining table, eating her portion with a somewhat dejected expression.

Although the food tasted delicious, her heart was filled with melancholy. She had clearly been prepared for the store manager to make a move, but then two people suddenly intervened.

And they were two beautiful young women, even more stunning than she was.

How could Heddy not lose confidence? After all, as far as she knew, there were already no fewer than five girls around Wise.

Where could she possibly fit in?

Every time she thought about it, she couldn't help but wonder,

'If only I had taken the initiative before this pair of sisters arrived...'

"Miss Heddy, would you like some more?" Odette asked gently, pulling her back from her daze.

Heddy gave a small wave of her hand, indicating she had eaten enough.

These sisters were simply too kind and friendly, and precisely because of that, Heddy felt even more ashamed whenever such thoughts crossed her mind.

"Hmm? Master, you're awake. Breakfast is ready."

Odile noticed Wise, bowed slightly, and stepped forward to guide him to the dining table.

She pulled out a chair for him, waited until he sat down, then gently pushed it back in.

Every movement reflected the elegance of a maid. Heddy, sitting nearby, had already grown used to it, treating it as nothing more than a small romantic gesture between lovers.

"Master, Master, would you like me to feed you breakfast? I can do it mouth-to-mouth, you know~"

Odette leaned close to Wise, her fair fingertips resting lightly against her pink lips, her expression brimming with allure.

While such charm had little effect on Wise, who was practically an incubus himself, Heddy was so shocked by the scene that she nearly choked.

After coughing violently, she stared in disbelief.

Wise could only rub his forehead helplessly. There were still others present, so this wasn't appropriate behavior. Naturally, he declined Odette's offer.

With a disappointed expression, she stepped away and began cleaning the kitchen.

Meanwhile, even though Odile didn't say anything, after hearing Wise turn her sister down, she also went off to do her own task, looking a bit down too.

All of this had started a few days ago, when the sisters learned about Ellen's work and became interested in being maids.

Besides consulting Ellen, they also searched for related videos and tutorials online, studying them diligently.

After a few days of effort, the sisters had learned quite a lot. However, the internet was so vast and confusing that they had unknowingly gone down the wrong path, which led to their current situation.

Even so, their abilities in cooking and housework were undeniable, largely shaped by their past.

After all, children raised in hardship tend to become independent early. Having grown up with their grandfather, the sisters were already extremely capable when it came to daily chores.

Wise also understood that their willingness to help wasn't solely out of gratitude, but also from a fear of being a burden.

With that in mind, he began considering whether he should arrange for them to work part-time at Victoria Housekeeping once their IDs were ready.

Just then, Belle came downstairs, yawning as she made her way to the table and sat down for breakfast.

Ever since she began sharing a bed with Wise, waking up early always left her feeling sleepy. Her routine of staying up late and rising early was clearly exhausting her.

Unlike the others, she didn't have exceptional endurance. Even though her body had improved somewhat, she still couldn't keep up and would need extra rest later.

"Belle, did you see that message?" Wise asked.

Belle paused, a sandwich still in her mouth, her expression confused.

That was enough for Wise to understand. He pulled out his phone and showed her the notification.

"Public Security sent this. We need to update our electronic business license soon... Don't tell me you deleted it thinking it was spam?"

His tone, filled with doubt, made Belle frown in annoyance.

"I didn't delete it! Brother, do you really think I would? I just woke up, and I haven't even looked at my phone yet. We can go after breakfast."

Wise had originally intended to handle it alone, only mentioning it in passing. But since Belle insisted on coming, he didn't mind.

Soon, they left the video store together. As they were about to drive off, they spotted an unfamiliar elderly woman near the dumpster behind the shop.

It stood out because Sixth Street was small, and they recognized most of its residents.

The woman was digging through the trash, as if searching for something.

Unable to ignore it, the siblings approached her together.

"Grandma, what are you looking for? Do you need some help?" Wise spoke in a gentle tone.

The old woman across from him seemed startled by his sudden voice, but soon, her eyes lit up.

She quietly sized him up for a moment before explaining why she was there.

"I lost my citizen ID card. I couldn't find it in the store earlier, so I thought it might have been cleaned up and thrown away with the trash," she said, her face filled with anxiety.

Belle gently reassured her, while Wise had Fairy pull up the store's surveillance footage.

Unfortunately, there was no trace of it. The card didn't appear to be in the video store.

They then asked when she realized it was missing and retraced her steps.

The old woman described everything she had done the day before, but she had gone to too many places.

A thorough search would take too much time, so Wise made a suggestion.

"Grandma, I've already checked with the clerk, and she didn't see your ID. Since you believe it was lost around here, we can take you to Public Security to apply for a replacement."

At first, the old woman didn't want to trouble them and tried to refuse. However, she couldn't withstand their insistence.

In the end, she agreed and exchanged contact information with them.

Meanwhile, at Public Security's Lumina Station.

A PubSec officer named Amy stood behind the front desk, her expression serious. She was on duty, responsible for handling official procedures.

With the expectations of Senior Zhu Yuan and Senior Qingyi resting on her shoulders, she took this responsibility very seriously.

As for why she suddenly got assigned here, Amy didn't really know. But from what she could tell, the seniors had been really busy lately.
