Chapter 8 - Academy

The next morning, Saburo woke up with a huge smile on his face as he prepared himself for the day. Picking up the toothbrush that lay in his bag and quickly went out to freshen up for the day.

As soon as he stepped out, the cold air hit him as he wrapped his hands around his body but still proceeded with a smile on his face.

"Good morning Hayato-sama!!" Saburo greeted as he turned to look at the roof of his new home.

Above it, the Samurai could be seen perched like a bird as he watched over the household.

"Morning inochi-dono" Hayato replied with a smile as he waved

Saburo didn't reprimand him for the nickname, he was long used to it, he had heard that nickname for about 3 years of his short new life.

As he walked to the bathhouse, he greeted the other attendants of the house and they responded with an exaggerated kowtow that he had to wait for them to complete. If not, then he was being disrespectful.

It wasn't long before he was fully ready, he refused to be bathed so he could bathe on his own but dressing wasn't up to him.

As soon as he entered his room again, he could see two female attendants waiting for him. Both were still teenagers no matter how he looked at it but they were getting paid for their work so who was he to complain about Edo practices.

"Miya-sama" they greeted politely with a bow

"Good morning," Saburo replied as he immediately took his position between the two with his arms spread apart

They helped him put on the clothing and even properly tied it up, moving his body, Saburo confirmed that it was free and easy to move in

"It's light" Saburo remarked

"We chose what would make Inochi-dono look regal but one that shouldn't hinder your movement, Lord Hayato said they are what a good samurai should wear" One of them replied

"I see, thank you" Saburo said

They bowed in response before leaving the room while he got his things together. Looking at the small wooden sword sitting at the corner of his wall, he contemplated bringing it along.

However he decided against it, it may be a training sword but he believed that the political ramifications of that would be immense.

"Okay I'm ready!" Saburo announced as he stepped out of the room

He hadn't even taken three steps out before Hayato appeared beside him.

He could see his attendants forming up as they all lined up behind him.

"No, we are in Konoha… As a student, Hayato is enough to follow me, the rest please stay behind, if there is any danger, this many people would only be a liability" Saburo said as he turned to them

"But Miya-sama…" the senior attendant said

It was a man who looked to be in his late thirties, his slightly hunched back and unimpressionable appearance made it clear that he had served within the Daimyo's family for a long time.

However, Saburo still didn't know his name till date. They never say their names citing that their names would only sully the ears of the prince.

"No! Your presence within the academy would only create more problems for me, so I beg you, please stay behind, Hayato can follow me" He ordered

"As you wish, Miya-sama" the senior attendant said as they finally backed down

"Thank you" Saburo said as Hayato opened the courtyard gate for him to step out

Outside was a carriage and standing besides it was a shinobi who was leaning against the carriage but still somehow retained a more professional look

"I assume you are the liaison Konoha picked to watch over me, correct?" Saburo asked as he approached the man who immediately stood upright

"Forgive my tardiness, Miya-sama," He said as the Senbon in his mouth moved naturally as though it was some toothpick.

"Doesn't that hurt your teeth?" Saburo asked

The Senbon was a ninja tool that even he knew about, it was essentially a slightly longer needle that was also used for medical purposes such as acupuncture.

Yet the young man before him treated it as a toothpick, he didn't judge considering that there was a high likelihood that the person before him was a high ranking ninja which meant that the Senbon also served tactical purposes.
