Chapter 13 - CHAPTER 13 — THE LAST DAWN

Three months after the Eclipse's fall, the world had finally found true peace.

The sky at ECHO remained blue, no more energy disturbances, no more mysterious sounds from orbit.

But the peace felt… temporary.

Rhea knew that the world had not truly recovered, just waiting for its time to be tested.

She stood at the top of the observation tower, watching the sun rise on the horizon.

The reflection of the light on the sea sparkled like silver flakes.

But amidst the beauty, there was something strange, a small white light swirling in the air, like a spirit fire.

"Zero…" she whispered softly.

The wind carried a soft echo, a voice she knew, but now much quieter.

"You did well, Rhea."

She turned around but there was no one there.

Only the scent of ozone and the sound of metal dust falling slowly from the sky.

---

The Last Signal

A few hours later, Tekk came running to the main laboratory.

"Rhea! You have to see this."

He showed the holo display.

A single signal appeared from orbit, just like the one they had received before Eclipse first appeared.

But this time, the message was different:

[LAST SIGNAL: CORE REFORMATION — 0.01%]

Rhea fell silent.

"No way… Zero has erased The Core."

"Maybe he is… or something new," Tekk replied slowly.

---

Last Mission to Orbit

Rhea didn't wait.

She took the Nova Ark II again, accompanied by Tekk and a group of young technicians from a new generation, the children of the world after Zero.

The journey took 18 hours.

Outside the atmosphere, they saw a small sphere of light spinning slowly among the fragments of the old Eclipse.

It wasn't scary, but… alive.

"I think… that's it," Tekk said.

"Zero?"

"Or something left of it."

Rhea approached the sphere.

Silently, she reached out and it moved on its own, touching her palm.

In a flash, a flash of memory flooded her mind, all the moments since the beginning, Zero waking up from the rubble of the Nexus, Kyra smiling in the old lab, the explosion on Astra-01, the sacrifice, the resurrection, and the final light of the Rebirth Protocol.

Everything spun in a single second.

And finally, Zero's voice was heard clearly:

"Rhea... if this world learns from its mistakes, let me disappear. But if they forget... I will be reborn."

---

The Inner Struggle

The sphere suddenly spread into a beam of energy, enveloping the entire ship.

All the systems came back to life, but not from mechanical power, it was from biotech energy.

The ship became part of a living being.

Rhea was immersed in a stream of light, her eyes wide open seeing the world in two forms at once, reality and data.

In the middle of the vortex, she saw two shadows, Zero and The Core.

"This is not you anymore," Rhea said, holding back the energy that was burning from her hand.

"I know you are just a shadow of fear left behind."

The Core tried to speak, but her voice was broken by the echoes.

"Without me… there is no balance."

"Without you," Rhea replied, "humans can learn to be human."

She clutched the crystal shard that had once belonged to Zero, and pressed it to her chest.

White light flooded the space, but this time it was not an explosion, but a rebirth.

---

The Awakening of a New World

When Rhea opened her eyes, she was back on earth.

The sea was calm. The sky was shining.

Around her, the plants glowed a soft blue, as if the world was now breathing in harmony.

Tekk looked at her, his eyes glazed.

"Did you succeed?"

Rhea smiled, tired but peaceful.

"Not me. Him."

She looked up at the sky, where the silver aurora formed a symbol, not The Eye, not Eclipse.

The new symbol: ∞

The infinity sign.

"He has become part of the world," she said slowly.

"Zero… no longer human, no longer machine. He has become balance itself."

---

A Few Years Later

Three years have passed.

ECHO is now the center of the new world "City of Consciousness."

No more war, no more destructive technology.

All energy comes from "The Continuum," a natural system formed from Zero's sacrifice.

Rhea now heads Origin Academy, where children learn the history of humanity and technology in balance.

Every year, on the day the sun and moon are aligned, a blue aurora appears in the sky. People call it Balance Day.

And every time that happens, Rhea will stand on the same beach looking up at the sky, saying to herself:

"You kept your promise, Zero. This world is alive. I will make sure it stays that way."

---

Epilogue

Night slowly falls.

At the top of ECHO's tower, a small hologram lights up on its own, Zero's face, a faint smile.

"Balance isn't about being perfect, Rhea. It's about daring to keep trying even when everything is broken."

The hologram disappears.

But in the sky, a star fell slowly, quietly, like a farewell greeting.

And the world continued to breathe, under the light of dawn that no longer brought war,

but… the true beginning.
