Chapter 6 - CHAPTER SIX

After a while, Caleb walked to Simon and I just did the same. The man really helped us. If it wasn't for him then those vampires would have gotten away with their plan, and that dragon would still be killing people. Heck, he would have killed us. So, in a way the man deserved a proper burial.

As Caleb was picking and putting Simon's head close to his body, a thought warmed itself in my head. The world knew about freaks existing. And since the dragon was attacking our car, I presumed some even suspected me and Caleb were freaks too. They wouldn't be wrong, but we had to keep it a secret or they will banish us from earth, even kill us for that matter.

But the advantage we had was that no one saw Caleb and Simon transform or me using my powers. And hopefully, none followed us in the woods. They are crazy people who would risk their lives for an Instagram picture.

Believe me, these bastards exist.

But that was something to discuss later. We had to take Simon to his family, God knows if he had one. For him to come to us, chances where the man had no one to rely on. But we had to find out if he had.

Since the distance from where we were and where the werewolves leaved was not that much, I could shadow walk us there. Caleb took Simon and I held his shoulder. Then one seconds from the other we appeared at the werewolves' camp.

The place was full of tents. Of all kinds. Big and small and there was a fire burning at the center of the tents.

They all come out of their tents, presumably they had sensed us. They looked alert in case we were intruders; some had even half transformed.

We stopped at the center and the werewolves began gathering around us.

"Sorry to disturb you so late at night, but we come with bad news," I said.

They looked at each other. Probably wondering who the hell we were.

"I don't know if you remember me," Caleb began, and they all whirled to look at him. "I came here when I was just a little boy. My name is Caleb and my father's name was Richard. And the man with me Is Trevor, son to Frazer," Caleb spoke.

They began murmuring amongst each other. Then I shouted since no one was paying attention to the body Caleb was carrying.

"I don't know if you knew that a dragon was here to feed and its target was us magical beings," I began.

"What do you mean was?" A man shouted in the cloud I didn't even see him.

"We just killed it. But sadly, it killed Simon. And we brought him here so you can give him a proper burial, the man deserves it for putting on such a fight. And if it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have known about the dragon," I said.

An old woman and an old man came out of the cloud, crying, and they were Simon's parents or family members I figured.

The old lady put a step in front of the other, her body shaking profusely as tears streamed all the more. Her husband was just pampering her, but I could see tears falling from his eyes. It was just that he was not screaming. And presumably doing what all of us men do. Not allow the ladies to see our tears.

Caleb laid Simon on the ground. The old lady kneed down and began beating Simon on the chest.

"Why did you have to leave us like your parents did?" She screamed.

And at that moment I don't know what the hell was wrong with me, but I felt tears streaming down my face. I tried to control it but there was an ache in my heart that no amount of medicine can cure. I think it just reminded me that my parents were no more. I would never see them and they would never meet their grandkids.

Then anger found its way in. the vampires will pay for this. If they only let go of the damn skull then none of this would have happened. My parents would have been alive even Simon would have been alive. But they just had to play their game.

They won't know what hit them.

I looked at Caleb, the bastard was also crying while patting the old man on his back. He needed emotional support as well just like his wife.

Then two men came and took Simon's body. His grandmother wanted to follow, but two women stepped forward and stopped her.

Then the man turned to me and Caleb.

"Thank you for what you did, boys. At least we will bury him ourselves. You are just as kind as your parents were," he spoke.

Caleb walked over and hugged the man tightly. He doesn't say anything he just stay like that for some minutes. Then after he let him go, he smiled. "We will take our leave, sir, and sorry for your loss."

"I wish we could have done more. I'm really sorry." I told him wiping my own tears.

The corner of his lips stretched a bit then went back to normal again. "It's fine. I'm sure you did what you could. And once again, thank you for bring him to us."

After a while of talking, we finally left. And just as we came, everyone kept looking at us as we left. Some with smiles but some I couldn't place my mind on it. Maybe they knew me and Simon didn't get along and thought somehow this was my fault.

Just maybe.

After we reached a few miles from the camp, I shadow walked us to where we were battling the damn dragon then later shadow walked us a few miles from my now damaged car.

I turned from all sides and Caleb did the same. But to our lucky, no one followed to see what was happening.

Since the dragon disappeared as we left the road, it gave them enough evidence that the dragon was following us. Just thinking about everything made my head spin. I needed to relax. Get a drink or do something that will help me forget about tonight.

But so much for that.
