Sanqi, known for its effectiveness in "dispersing blood stasis, stopping bleeding, reducing swelling, and relieving pain," is a renowned traditional Chinese medicine. It also goes by another name, "Tianqi," often familiar to people from toothpaste advertisements.
As the saying goes, "Sanqi is good, it's a treasure for the whole body," but its efficacy is best within the 3 to 7 years of its growth. Its low yield has led to a price surge, whereas Tusanqi is popular for its affordable price.
Its main functions are dispersing blood stasis and stopping bleeding, reducing swelling, relieving pain, and it is used for hemoptysis, hematemesis, hematochezia, metrorrhagia, traumatic bleeding, etc. Additionally, it also has a function of replenishing qi, hence it's commonly known as ginseng sanqi.
However, Tusanqi and Sanqi, despite the one-character difference in their names, have vastly different medicinal effects.
