Chapter 41 - Chapter 40: Bill’s Lighthouse, Giant Dragonite Is About to Attack!

[Bruno: This scoundrel Damian is too shameless, isn't he? He clearly abandoned Charmander, yet he still wanted Charmander to return to him.]

[Lorelei: Fortunately Charmander wasn't fooled. Otherwise, I'd feel terrible for Ash and his friends.]

[Lance: Exactly. A Pokémon they saved with great effort returning to that scoundrel? Ash and the others would've been depressed for half a month.]

[Goodshow: This person named Damian is bringing shame upon our Kanto League. Severe punishment—there must be severe punishment!]

Damian never expected his evil deed to be exposed to the entire world.

Now he was done for.

Even if his family had some influence, that meant nothing before the League Chairman himself.

The Chairman had already spoken, demanding severe punishment. Damian was completely finished.

He wouldn't be allowed to continue as a Trainer. He might even be jailed for several months.

The thought of prison made Damian's legs tremble uncontrollably.

Please—no. Someone save him!

White Screen:

[Ash's luck during this period was ridiculously good. After catching Charmander, in less than a week, he also caught a Squirtle.]

[Within less than a month of starting his journey, he had all three Kanto starter Pokémon—and all were caught in the wild. This kind of luck is unmatched.]

[Gary: Are there really that many wild Kanto starter Pokémon?]

Gary fell into self-doubt.

He and Ash started on the same day from Pallet Town.

So why, after a month, had he not met even a single wild Kanto starter Pokémon?

That didn't make scientific sense.

[Professor Oak: Driving around in a sports car, wandering aimlessly all over the world… it would be strange if you encountered rare Pokémon.]

[Lance: The more crowded a place is, the lower the probability of rare Pokémon appearing. In contrast, the chances of finding rare Pokémon rise sharply in deep, untouched forests.]

This wasn't metaphysics. It was pure ecological fact.

In populated areas, rare Pokémon are captured immediately once seen.

But in the deep, old forests—where humans rarely go—rare Pokémon still thrive.

[Ash already had two badges needed to participate in the Pokémon League, and he had six Pokémon in total. All of this was accomplished in just one month.]

[Thinking about it, Ash couldn't help feeling proud. However, this time Misty didn't humor him. She directly burst his bubble.]

[The Gray Badge and Cascade Badge were both given to him out of sympathy by her and Brock. And the six Pokémon needed to enter the Pokémon League weren't all caught by Ash. Some Pokémon simply chose to follow him.]

[Seeing Misty, Brock, and even Pikachu going too far, Ash felt a little angry. Fine. Then he'd prove himself properly. Even without help, he could catch a Pokémon!]

Chats:

[Lance: Is Ash going to catch Caterpie again?]

In Kanto, the only Pokémon one could catch without help from any other Pokémon was… Caterpie.

[Lorelei: Not necessarily. It could be Weedle.]

[Bruno: Is the first-generation Bug-Catching Master about to be born?]

Video Continues:

[A sandy beach at sunset, shimmering sea surface—a refreshing and beautiful scene. But Ash wasn't in the mood to admire it.]

[He was focused entirely on catching a new Pokémon to prove himself. After searching for a long time, Ash finally found a Krabby on the beach—an extremely small Krabby.]

[Professor Oak: Although I've seen Krabby many times, seeing this one again in the video… I can't help but complain. This Krabby is simply too small.]

[Gary: It's not even half the size of the Krabby I caught. I really don't understand why you would catch this, Ash.]

[Tad: Heh, I wouldn't even look at such a Krabby if it were thrown in front of me—let alone catch it!]

[Ash snapped: Hey! What are you talking about? My Krabby is very strong! That guy named Tad—if I meet him at the Indigo Plateau Conference, I'll show him how powerful my Krabby is!]

[Tad: Heh, I'll be waiting.]

Although Ash is usually reckless, he is reliable in key moments. He didn't try to grab Krabby with his bare hands. Instead, he used a wooden stick to draw Krabby's attention. After the stick was snapped into three pieces, Ash successfully caught Krabby.]

[Since he already had six Pokémon, the newly caught Krabby was automatically sent to Professor Oak's lab.

Worried that the Krabby he caught with so much effort would be cooked and eaten by Professor Oak, Ash rushed to Bill's Lighthouse.]

[Professor Oak said, "Hey! Ash, do you really think I'm that unreliable?"

Ash replied, "That's right, Professor Oak."

Professor Oak: "..."]
