Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Latias — Ash’s Quiz Reward!

[Cynthia: If I had to choose, I'd go with C. The Ash in the black-bordered world is much more mature than the Ash in the white-bordered one. Punching a brat would be too undignified.]

[Diantha: Cynthia's analysis makes sense. I'll choose C as well.]

[Ash: Yeah, mature — I've always been mature. I'll pick C too!]

Goh's harsh words had no effect on Ash.

He didn't even bother to respond — simply ignoring him.

"Professor Oak, we should set off now," Ash reminded calmly.

"You rude fellow!!!" Goh's nose twisted in anger from being ignored. He wanted to rush forward and punch Ash, but in the end, he didn't dare.

Not because he was being considerate, but because he knew — that boy named Ash didn't look like someone to mess with. So he kept his distance, puffing his chest and mouthing off instead.

"Goh," Chloe said softly, giving him a chance to save face. Without her intervention, Goh probably wouldn't have known how to back down.

"Hmph. I'll let you off this time. But if you're late again, I won't go easy on you."

Truly a coward — but a stubborn one at that.

By now, the correct answer was obvious.

The answer was C!

[Cynthia: Hehe, I guessed it right. The Ash in the black world didn't disappoint me.]

[Bruno: Damn it! He should've hit him. That brat Goh is so annoying — Ash should've taught him a lesson!]

[Misty: I guessed wrong. What a pity.]

[Chairman Goodshow: We'll soon know if the rewards are real or not.]

As soon as Chairman Goodshow finished speaking, the System's chime echoed across the livestream.

[Ding! The top three correct answerers for this quiz are: Ash, Cynthia, and Diantha.]

[Congratulations to the three for receiving their rewards.]

[Answerer Ash receives the reward: Legendary Pokémon — Latias.]

[Answerer Cynthia receives the reward: TM — Dragon Dance (usable on any Pokémon).]

[Answerer Diantha receives the reward: Gardevoir Mega Stone and Key Stone.]

Holy Arceus.

When the System announced that Ash's reward was the Legendary Pokémon Latias, the entire chat exploded.

The breathing of every major figure — Giovanni, Lance, Steven, Wallace — became heavy.

Answering questions could actually get you a Legendary Pokémon?!

[Chairman Goodshow: I should've answered seriously just now…]

Chairman Goodshow regretted it so much he nearly slapped his thigh raw.

He shouldn't have doubted the System — what a fool he'd been!

[Koga: Chairman, what would you even do with a Latias? Come on, you're seventy.]

[Will: Exactly! Chairman, a Legendary Pokémon's wasted on you. Why not leave the chance to us young people?]

[Giovanni: Maybe Chairman Goodshow wants to gift the Legendary Pokémon to his son, so when he retires, his son can inherit both the Latias and the League position.]

[Lance: Don't talk nonsense! The Chairman isn't that kind of man.]

[Steven: Enough! Isn't the most important thing right now to see if the reward's real? Ash — Ash! Did you actually get Latias?!]

At Steven's words, the entire chat went silent.

Everyone held their breath.

Was the reward real… or fake?

[Ash: I do have an extra Poké Ball in my hand, but I'm not sure if Latias is inside.]

[Misty: Ash! Stop talking and release the Pokémon already!]

[Brock: Yeah, hurry up — I'm dying of curiosity here!]

Fifteen seconds.

Thirty seconds.

A whole minute passed.

Still, no response from Ash.

[Archie: Heh, told you. The reward's a scam. A Legendary Pokémon as a prize? Typical telecommunication fraud.]

[Maxie: Big dreams must be achieved by one's own hands. Relying on external help never works. I'm out.]

[Gary: You're killing me, Ash! Did you get Latias or not?!]

Finally — after being offline for a full minute — Ash reappeared in the chat.

[Ash: Uh… the System did give me a Pokémon, but I'm not sure if it's Latias. Because… I don't even know what Latias looks like.]

[Everyone: ...]

So that's why he was gone for a minute — trying to figure out what Pokémon he had!

[Professor Oak: Ash, describe it for me.]

[Ash: Its upper body's white, lower body's red, it's got wings, and it kinda looks like an airplane.]

White and red… looks like an airplane…

Professor Oak didn't even need to confirm it — that Pokémon was definitely Latias.

[Archie: See? I said from the start, whoever can create a world Comparison livestream system wouldn't be lying. I always believed it was real!]

[Maxie: Who still relies on their own hands to achieve dreams these days? The Comparison Viewing System helps make dreams come true! Answering questions is the way forward in this new era!]
