Chapter 41 - 《Naruto: Ice God》Chapter 41: Combat Training Exercise

"Well then, everyone's here." Ito Makoto, the teacher of Feng Bai's class, counted the students and nodded with satisfaction.

"You're all on time. As you've probably heard, today's lesson will be a sparring exercise. First, I need to teach you the Seal of Confrontation and the Seal of Reconciliation."

He motioned for the students to sit anywhere on the training ground and began explaining the precautions before the exercise.

"How tedious." Hyūga Iroha rolled his Byakugan eyes. As a branch family member, he already understood these basic concepts and didn't bother paying attention.

"Indeed, what a drag." Nara Ellipse chimed in lazily from beside him: "I don't want to fight that hot-blooded fool. If he's my opponent, I'll surrender immediately."

He pointed at Might Guy, who was doing handstand walks across the ground.

"Anyway, for this sparring exercise, you can all go all out. Don't worry about getting hurt—your teacher's here. Don't let appearances fool you, I'm actually a chūnin." Ito Makoto proudly pointed to his forehead protector, trying to boost the students' confidence.

That said...

Ito Makoto glanced toward where Kakashi and the others were sitting.

As the academy's famous prodigy, Kakashi's strength was likely leagues beyond ordinary students.

The only ones who could match him would probably be Lord Third's son and Lord Danzō's son...

Maybe I should assign opponents directly, but that would be unfair to some students.

I need to stay alert—can't let any students get seriously injured.

"Although this sparring allows you to use kunai, shuriken, and other ninja tools, please remember: this is ultimately just an exercise. You must remember to stop before going too far, understood? If you understand, let's begin the draw!"

Under Ito Makoto's direction, the students began drawing lots and quickly got their results.

"Ah, I get to fight Guy? Fine, I'll let him taste my new jutsu!" Obito was first to draw, getting matched against Might Guy.

This made some people breathe a sigh of relief.

Although they often mocked Might Guy as a hot-blooded fool, everyone could see how hard he worked.

Getting punched by him would probably mean lying in bed for a long time—that was everyone's consensus.

"Hm? Kakashi, you're fighting the Hyūga? Not bad." Seeing that his slip didn't match Kakashi's, but rather Hyūga Iroha had drawn the same mark as Kakashi, Feng Bai nudged Kakashi with his elbow and said with a tone that enjoyed stirring up trouble:

"Go on, show the Hyūga clan what you've got."

"Hmph, if you can manage it." Hyūga Iroha looked disdainfully at Feng Bai and Kakashi: "I'll use facts to show you that so-called geniuses mean nothing in the eyes of the Hyūga clan."

What an arrogant guy—he's just branch family. If he were main family, that would be even worse.

"Hmph, Kakashi, remember to hit his face. The only thing worth looking at on Hyūga people is their faces." Feng Bai waved his fist, egging Kakashi on.

"You... it's just sparring between classmates." Looking at Feng Bai constantly stirring up trouble, Kakashi shook his head helplessly and simply ignored him.

"You—what's with that attitude!" Before Feng Bai could finish speaking, he saw his own opponent.

"Yo, Feng Bai, looks like we both drew the same lot." Asuma smiled and waved his slip, which bore an identical pattern to Feng Bai's.

"Come to think of it, I've seen you spar with Kakashi, Guy, Obito and the others, but I've never personally tested your skills." Without waiting for Feng Bai's response, Asuma looked at him with eyes full of fighting spirit.

"You too... why are you suddenly getting all fired up..." Feeling the other's intense gaze, Feng Bai scratched his head, not quite used to Asuma's sudden enthusiasm.

Although he didn't show it normally, Asuma was the Third's son after all—how could he be content letting one genius after another step on his head? Fighting Kakashi or Feng Bai had always been his wish.

This time, he finally had the chance.

"Is that so? Then let's do it." Feng Bai maintained a nonchalant attitude—after all, they were all ordinary people without bloodline limits, so whatever.

Ah, better not lose if possible. If I really lose...

If Danzō finds out I lost to the Third's son, that might cause some minor trouble...

"Alright, first match—Anko Mitarashi versus Nara Ellipse. Exercise begins!" After compiling the draw results, Ito Makoto announced the start of the exercise.

After the two formed the Seal of Confrontation, Anko attacked first, choosing to test her opponent with taijutsu.

Nara Ellipse hadn't yet learned his clan's secret techniques, and without ninjutsu protection, he could only grit his teeth and grab a kunai to fight Anko.

After being kicked two or three times in succession, he directly chose to surrender.

"Good, Anko Mitarashi wins! Both sides form the Seal of Reconciliation!" Ito Makoto immediately intervened and announced the end of the match.

"You really have no fighting spirit." Anko looked helplessly at Nara Ellipse, who was sitting on the ground panting heavily.

"Tch, I'm a ninja who fights with his brain—how could I possibly beat someone like you..." Nara Ellipse closed his eyes and simply lay down on the ground.

With these two setting the example, the following matches proceeded very smoothly.

Obito's fight with Might Guy ended unsurprisingly with Obito being kicked flying, but the Great Fireball Technique he used during the match earned praise from the teacher.

To perform ninjutsu at this age already surpassed many ordinary ninjas.

The commotion caused by Feng Bai's class on the training ground also attracted countless other classes in the teaching building to watch.

"What kind of terrifying class is that? Ninjas who aren't even genin are using techniques like the Great Fireball." Namiashi Raidō from the neighboring Class 3 looked at the scorch marks left by the Great Fireball on the training ground and commented dismissively.

"That's Class 2, Kakashi's class." Yamashiro Aoba glanced in the direction Namiashi Raidō was looking and confirmed.

"Whoa, that's Lord Third's son's class?" Tatami Iwashi, his head wrapped in bandages, ignored the teacher on the podium and joined the conversation.

"Next up, Shimura Feng Bai versus Sarutobi Asuma!"

Just as everyone was discussing, Ito Makoto called out Feng Bai and Asuma's names on the training ground.

"Shimura—that wouldn't be... uh, is it, Myo?" Tatami Iwashi looked questioningly at Shimura Myo, who was sitting not far away.

Shimura Myo nodded, confirming his guess: "Yes, Shimura Feng Bai—Lord Danzō's son."
