Chapter 26 - 《Naruto: Ice God》Chapter 26: Preparing for Enrollment

After blowing away the targets, Danzō explained the concept of chakra nature transformation, then introduced the elemental advantages between different chakra natures.

Water beats Fire, Fire beats Wind, Wind beats Lightning, Lightning beats Earth, Earth beats Water.

Though these advantages exist, they only apply when both sides use jutsu with similar chakra quantities. Once your opponent's chakra far exceeds yours...

Take Madara, for instance. When he unleashes a Fire Release, if you're foolish enough to counter with Water Release—sorry, unless you're a Water Release master on Tobirama's level, you're destined to become barbecue.

So, to live comfortably in the ninja world, it ultimately comes down to having good bloodline.

Look at the Uchiha—in the later stages, they basically pilot giant mechas. You could say it's the essential bloodline for any transmigrator.

At the very least, you'd want some Uzumaki blood—vigorous vitality and abundant chakra.

As for someone like me with an ordinary Kekkei Genkai...

Guess I'll just wait for the old man to drop some spending money.

Thinking about Ice Release's performance in the original work, Feng Bai just wanted to cry.

If only I were an Uchiha's illegitimate son. With some protagonist luck, maybe I could even get an Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.

If Danzō knew his son would rather be an Uchiha, he'd definitely curse the evil Uchiha for corrupting people's hearts.

"You try it too." Danzō stepped aside, pointing at the targets that had somehow been reset, and spoke flatly.

"Yes, sir."

Feng Bai moved to where Danzō had been standing and assumed his stance.

Wind-attribute chakra, huh...

For Feng Bai, who could already condense ice crystals with chakra, this wasn't particularly difficult.

If I show the old man something special, maybe he'll be pleased and let me take fewer beatings from Ryōma. If I'm really lucky, he might even give me more pocket money.

With this thought, Feng Bai began forming hand seals.

Rat—Rabbit—Dog

"Those seals are..." Danzō's heart skipped a beat, his eyes showing surprise as he watched Feng Bai.

"Wind Release: Vacuum Wave!"

Feeling wind-attribute chakra gather in his throat, Feng Bai forcefully expelled it toward the targets.

Sharp wind blades instantly severed all the humanoid targets in the area, even carving a deep gash into the far wall.

"That chakra quantity... As expected, ninja with Kekkei Genkai naturally possess more chakra than ordinary people."

Danzō narrowed his eyes, assessing Feng Bai's condition. If this were an ordinary person, using a jutsu of this caliber at this age would have left them exhausted and collapsed.

And he could accurately hit the targets...

"How was that, Dad?" Not receiving Danzō's praise, Feng Bai took the initiative to ask.

"Worthy of being my son." Hearing Feng Bai's voice, Danzō finally nodded.

Feng Bai hadn't been happy for long when Danzō's next words made his face instantly fall:

"But your hand seal speed is still too slow. Starting tomorrow, extend your hand seal practice time."

Damn it. Feng Bai's fists clenched.

A man stands tall between heaven and earth...

"Hmm? Did you hear me?" Not receiving a response, Danzō looked down at Feng Bai.

Flexibility is the mark of a true man!

"Yes, Dad." Feng Bai smiled and nodded.

...

Through bitter training filled with pain, blood, and sweat, time passed until the day of the entrance examination.

"Yo, Kakashi." At the Ninja Academy entrance, Feng Bai greeted Kakashi.

"Mm." Kakashi responded coolly, then glanced behind Feng Bai: "Your father didn't come?"

"He said he'd be here later, told me to go in when it's time. What about Uncle Sakumo?" Feng Bai, who didn't particularly care whether Danzō came or not, asked about Sakumo's whereabouts with complete indifference.

"Who knows." Kakashi shrugged and pulled out a book to read.

"Kakashi, Feng Bai." Before Feng Bai could continue questioning, Asuma squeezed over from somewhere and greeted them both.

"No need to ask—your dad didn't come either." Feng Bai didn't need to inquire; that Third Hokage was definitely busy with work.

"Doesn't matter if he comes or not. By the way, Obito's late again, right? I just saw Rin with her mother." Asuma looked around, not spotting Obito anywhere.

"When is he ever on time? Probably off helping some old man again."

After nearly a year together, Feng Bai had grown accustomed to Obito's chronic lateness.

"If he's delayed, he'll have to wait until next year." Asuma finally found the figure he'd been seeking and waved at Feng Bai and Kakashi before running off: "Not chatting anymore—I'm out of here."

Ah, definitely Kurenai.

Following Asuma's departure direction, Feng Bai unsurprisingly spotted Kurenai's figure.

"Yo, Feng Bai."

An arm wrapped around his neck, and the familiar presence made Feng Bai guess the identity without turning: "With so many people around, isn't this inappropriate, Anko?"

"Hehe, what's to worry about? Are you embarrassed?" Anko poked Feng Bai's cheek with her finger, grinning broadly.

This girl really is carefree by nature. Too bad she's still too young—if she pulled this move in ten years or so, I'd probably be smitten.

As for now...

I, Shimura Feng Bai, Danzō's son, aspiring to become the second-generation Root leader, only find her noisy.

So...

Let her hug if she wants—it's not like I'll lose anything.

Feng Bai rolled his eyes and let Anko have her way.

"Obito..." Anko blinked as she looked around, but Feng Bai interrupted before she could speak:

"No need to ask—he's late again. And you're the second person to ask, by the way."

"Tch, not cute at all." Having her words cut off, Anko vigorously ruffled Feng Bai's hair.

Before she could take further action, two ninja wearing forehead protectors and flak jackets suddenly appeared at the school entrance.

The pair slowly opened the gates, and several teachers emerged, first separating parents from children, then having the children line up in order to enter the school.

"I'm heading out, Father!"

"Yes, Gai, go forth and embrace your youth!"

Two passionate voices rang out. Before Feng Bai could identify the speakers, Anko pushed and pulled him into the school.

"There are quite a few promising seedlings among this year's students." In the principal's office, Hiruzen Sarutobi stood with his hands behind his back, gazing down at the student queue through the window.

"..."

Behind Hiruzen, Danzō sat in his chair, offering no response.

"Aren't you going to check on Feng Bai?" Not receiving a reply, Hiruzen turned around, his lips curving upward as he produced a pipe from somewhere and settled into the principal's chair.

"I know my son's capabilities perfectly well." Danzō lifted his teacup, maintaining his inscrutable composure without a trace of emotion on his face.

"What about you, though? Asuma's usually looked after by Biwako, isn't he? Is it really alright that he hasn't learned any of your techniques?" After sipping his tea, Danzō set down his cup and began needling Hiruzen.
