Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Awakening - Part 2: Melee Combat

Cleared!

I stood over the bloodied corpses of the Grineer, feeling adrenaline- exhilaration- flowing through my body. I understood immediately- these were the instincts of a Tenno.

Void Demons.

There were countless reports of Tenno exhibiting extremely violent tendencies when utilising Void Magic, if I remembered the lore correctly. Fighting like this, killing Grineer... It was a thrilling feeling, I understood now why Battle Junkies craved combat so much.

Or maybe it was that the person I'd transmigrated into was a battle junkie, and these feelings were merely echoes of them- leftovers of their own crazed battle desires.

I shook my head, pushing the thoughts away from my mind as I pushed into the forest, following the orange indicator. I needed to get out of this place, before Captain Vor- was he Admiral Vor at this point in time?- found me.

Rushing through the forest- though being careful not to wander too close to any Grineer patrols- I found myself at a broken bridge, far too long to jump over normally... But I needed to cross it to follow the indicator.

I took a deep breath and practised a few jumps... I should be able to make that with a bullet jump, right? Despite their appearance, Warframes were all extremely agile. Even a hulking mass like Rhino could jump and bounce wherever he pleased.

I backed up a bit, taking a few more breaths, before I began to sprint forwards! And then, right as I reached the edge of the bridge, I jumped with all my might. My body naturally spun on its own, cutting through the air- almost making me feel weightless for a moment- before I safely landed on the other side.

Through special actions, you have obtained the Skill: Parkour (Level 1)!

I felt relief... It seemed there were some instincts within the Warframe as well, allowing me to perform the Tenno's agile movements. I quickly brought up the new skill to get some more detail.

Parkour (Level 1)

A skill related to one's jumping and movement abilities at high speeds. The user is able to jump, double jump, bullet up, and jump along or up walls with minimal difficulty.

Very good... However, the fact even this skill was 'Level 1' implied that it could be improved further. What would that result in? Outright flying without the need of an Archwing? Maybe I'd even obtain Spider-Man like abilities, able to run on any surface I desired.

I quickly shook my head, pushing the thoughts out of my mind as I continued to run through the forest- swinging my Skana at anything that got in my way. I needed to get to my ship or at least re-establish contact with the Lotus.

Eventually, I came upon a village in flames... Burning, destroyed by the Grineer- clearing the way for their own dark purposes... Probably just 'in the way' as they continued to look for me...

Fucking Grineer- Orokin Scum!

I was surprised by the vitriol and rage that filled me... Were these my own thoughts, affected by Void Magic? Were these the feelings of the 'real' Xenos, left behind?

I pushed onwards, soon coming upon the Secondary Weapons that were lying around... A pistol, and a bow.

Lato (Common) (0 Forma)

Type: Pistol, Rapid-Fire, Semi-Automatic

A simple semi-automatic pistol. Makes loud noise when used. Easy to reload.

MK1-Kunai (Common) (0 Forma)

Type: Kunai, Throwable, Retrievable

Simple Kunai for Silent Kills, capable of puncturing through both flesh and metal.

I didn't hesitate to pick up the pistol over the Kunai. I knew that the Kunai could be purchased fairly cheap from the shop once it was unlocked on board the ship... Besides that, the MK1-Kunai were a degraded version of the regular Kunai Weapon- it was better to go with the Lato even if it was noisy.

Faster firing, faster kills. I could get a silencing mod later.

Pistol Mastery (Level 1) has been unlocked.

I made my way through the burning village... The Grineer weren't a challenge as I unloaded bullets into them without restraint- even firing into their corpses a few extra times for good measure to really let out the excess frustration within me.

I felt a small, satisfied smirk crawl on my face as I left the village behind... My real face of course, not Frost's.

Awakening - Part 3: Secondary Weapon!

Cleared!

I continued to run forwards, my blade and pistol tearing through grineer- Acceltra left on my back for later since my ammo was currently limited. If I saw a Grineer, it died and I kept moving.

I didn't hesitate when I came upon a fallen bridge, running up the wooden planks and flipping when I reached the top- landing safely on my feet.

The indicator on my HUD showed me the way as I jumped across several platforms in quick succession- jumping over gaps, double jumping to reach higher ground in a hurry...

I was learning how a Tenno moved.

Awakening - Part 4: Basic Movement!

Cleared!

I heard my coms scrambling, and I groaned as I held the side of my head- hearing Vor's voice over the comms.

"Salvage Team, why have you not reported in?" He demanded, only to get silence on the other end... After all- I had already killed them.

I rushed through a leaking metal tunnel, and found myself coming across a computer- at the top of which was a spinning device on a pole... It was likely scrambling any attempt of the Lotus's to contact me.

No time to think, I needed to re-establish a comms link to the Lotus.

I ran up the pole, freezing the device before I shattered it to pieces with my Skana- a quiet destruction that wouldn't alert any Grineer.

A scrambling sound filled my comms before a voice began to come through- female, panicked. "... No... Enno... Tenno! Tenno, do you read me?"

"I read you, Lotus," I murmured back softly.

A sigh of pure relief came from her. "Thank Goodness... I've been trying to get through; it appears you were able to awake before the grineer captured you. You must hurry to a ship."

"Can you find my old ship from my logs?" I asked her, I didn't know where my own ship was at the moment- I'd only been following the indicators to make it this far.

"I think... Yes, located," a new indicator appeared on my HUD. "Please hurry Tenno, you don't want to be captured by Admiral Vor."

'Huh, so he was an Admiral at this point...'

I made my way over to another console, feeling a strange sensation as I looked down at my wrist. A small, pointed device attached to a wire emerged from it as I got close to the console.

The Parazon- a Tenno's hacking tool.

Hacking (Level 1) has been unlocked.

I smiled in amusement- it seemed that skills unlocked as I obtained a need for them... Well, that was fine- the more skills I had the better.

I held my palm up as the Parazon leapt from my wrist and sank into the console.

Instantly, I saw the simple grineer mechanism within my mind's eye. Pressing down the three nodes one by one, I successfully disabled the security of a big door nearby- allowing me to make it through.

I surged into the tunnel through the door, my Skana moving like a deadly assassin's blade as I froze and sliced grineer to pieces as I ran past them- making sure none of them could even get close to a console. I didn't want any of them alerting Vor- I didn't want to see Vor unless I'd almost escaped.

I emerged from the tunnel, coming upon a streetlight shining down on two weapons- a Rifle and a Bow. I immediately recognised them... But I already had a primary weapon.

So, I kindly ignored them both and pressed onwards. I didn't dare touch the Acceltra on my back, instead I sliced through grinner that led the way to a tunnel- perfectly matching up with my indicator.

Awakening - Part 6: Primary Weapon!

Cleared!

I couldn't help but roll my eyes- what primary weapon? I hadn't touched it... Still, it was part of the quest- just follow along nice and easy.

The indicator soon led me to metal walkways, which I quickly jumped on and ran long.

"You're almost there," the Lotus told me. "Just a bit further- there!"

I came upon another set of metal walkways done in a circle, grineer patrolling around them. A ship- MY ship- was being observed by the grineer...

I felt the blood boil in my veins as I finally removed the Acceltra Prime from my back... And unleashed the energy bolts upon the grineer.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The impact of the bolts caused tiny explosions that sent body parts and blood flying everywhere, staining my untouched ship blood red.

Stopping at a nearby console, my Parazon attached to it- and I was easily able to disable the suppression system that was keeping my ship in stasis.

Awakening - Part 7: Security Systems!

Cleared!

Suddenly, a voice started speaking- filling my comms.

A female voice.

"Stop touching me you repulsive-!" It began angrily before it trailed off. "... Are... Are my sensors playing a trick on me? Master Xenos, is that you?"

I was surprised for a moment- I had fully been expecting Cephalon ORDIS. Not to have my own unique Ship Cephalon...

Actually, didn't that make sense? Many Tenno existed in the system... Many were killed, others were captured, but the Zariman Ten-Zero had been a colony ship- there were probably hundreds of Tenno. It made sense that many of them likely had their own unique Ship Cephalons.

"Enemy Reinforcements are approaching!" The Lotus's urgent voice snapped me out of my voice. "Ship Cephalon, we require immediate extraction!"

I immediately rolled out of the way when I saw a red laser aim at my chest- a grineer targeting me through laser sight. I ducked behind a metal wall as bullets splattered against it.

"Master is in danger? I will immediately cycle the engines!" The Cephalon said, the ship starting to hum and groan as it came to life for the first time in many years.

I leapt up from cover- no need to be quiet anymore. I bombarded the grineer with blasts from Acceltra and pierced the Skull of anybody who got too close with Skana.

Sword Mastery has levelled up.

Rifle Mastery has levelled up.

I ignored the notifications, instead putting all my focus on butchering grineer like it was going out of style.

"Do not let that Tenno escape!" Vor's voice roared over the speakers- it seems he'd finally gotten wind of what was going on... Far too late. "They will become an offering to the Queens!"

I just smirked in amusement and unleashed a bolt of ice from my hand, freezing grineer in place before they shattered to pieces under the attacks of my Acceltra... They stood no chance against me, instead being like lams being led to a slaughter.

"The ship is ready, Master!" The Cephalon spoke up finally. "Clear out anyone close and get in!"

I lifted my hand, ice coiling around it. This wasn't the game- which means that I didn't have to strictly follow the rules of how abilities worked...

I slammed my ice-covered fist on the ground, unleashing a wave of frost that spread out around me. It did cause a little freezing to my ship- but my ship was made to design the cold vacuum of space, it would melt off soon enough.

The Grinner, on the other hand, were frozen sold in seconds before they were blasted apart by my Acceltra.

I grinned and jumped on the panel on the bottom of the ship. The ship quickly took off, flying around for a moment and aiming straight upwards...

I looked down, my keen eyes catching Vor approaching with rage in every step- clearly furious that I'd evaded him and escaped, not even being hit with an Ascaris.

I grinned and flipped him off. "Better luck next time, wanker!"

The panel turned as I was taken into the safety of the ship before it blasted off- leaving the atmosphere in seconds...

I was safe.
