Vegeta didn't care about the arrangement. Ultimately, he knew he would face Kakarot in the finals.

The host raised the microphone and announced loudly, "The first semi-final match: Goku vs. Gohan! Father and son face off—let's watch their battle!"
Gohan clenched his fists, squatted slightly, and began channeling his Super Saiyan energy.
In an instant, Gohan transformed, his entire body glowing with golden energy.
The Z Warriors in the audience were stunned, except for Vegeta and Piccolo, who weren't surprised.
Yamcha, Krillin, Tien Shinhan, and Chiaotzu were all shocked.
Chiaotzu did not participate in the tournament. Tien Shinhan rarely allowed him to fight anymore; the risks were too great.
Meanwhile, Babidi's two subordinates realized the perfect opportunity had arrived to collect energy.
"One moment has come. We must act quickly," one said urgently.
