Chapter 671 - Chapter 262: The First Task

Whether this matter was instigated by Dumbledore is no longer important, as they have no way to find Dumbledore to verify if their guess is correct.

Harry accepted Professor Moody's goodwill, but he didn't plan to use his flying skills in the first task.

Before going to sleep, Harry had another conversation with Vivi.

"Wednesday is the first task." Harry held the crystal ball, "How have you been lately? Have you been busy?"

Vivi certainly heard the implication in Harry's words and regrettably said, "Sorry, Harry, I've been quite busy lately... you know, with the merger of the two ministries of magic, there's a pile of things to handle, I really can't get away from it."

"Oh."

Harry felt a bit disappointed, but he understood Vivi, knowing the ministry of magic couldn't do without her.

He perked up and asked again, "Regarding the merger, have you decided on a name for the ministry of magic?"

"German Ministry of Magic." Vivi said with a slight smile, "After all, we are all German and speak German, of course, it should be called the German Ministry of Magic."

"Since the two countries have merged, why not call it Great Germany?" Harry asked curiously.

Indeed, this suggestion was highly appreciated by Vivi.

"That's a good suggestion," she said, "Great Germany... uh, I'll submit this suggestion to Lady Rozier and let her convene a meeting to discuss this decision."

The next day in Divination class, Ron specifically prepared a question to ask Professor Trelawney.

"Beyond your vision…" Professor Trelawney chanted mysteriously with her eyes closed, "Don't let distractions interfere with your thoughts..."

"Professor." Ron raised his hand.

Professor Trelawney suddenly opened her eyes, caught off guard; she didn't look very pleased.

"Mr. Weasley." Trelawney said, "Is there something you'd like to ask?"

"It's like this, professor." Ron glanced at Harry, then at Neville and Seamus, who looked eagerly, "I know you have a deep understanding of Divination, so I wanted to ask about the Triwizard Tournament; do you think Harry, Harry will be the ultimate champion?"

What an impressive question, in a single sentence capturing the attention of all the students in the classroom.

Professor Trelawney was initially startled hearing the question, then smiled.

"Oh, my dear." she murmured ambiguously, "You mean, ask me to predict the Triwizard Tournament…"

She looked up, under the gaze of all the students, her eyes gradually growing deeper.

Lavender Brown, sitting behind Hermione, suddenly burst into laughter. She had actually believed in Professor Trelawney last year, but after one unreliable prediction after another, she had long taken Trelawney's prophecies as a joke.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, my dear." Professor Trelawney suddenly lowered her head and spoke to Ron, "I'm sorry, the Triwizard Tournament seems to have nothing to do with Mr. Potter—uh, according to the relative position of Mars and Saturn, those born in July face immense danger of sudden death."

"So you're saying Harry will die?" Hermione couldn't hold back her laughter.

"I'm just saying those born in July have such potential." Professor Trelawney didn't seem inclined to dwell on the topic, "Believe my prediction, Miss Granger—uh? Have you chosen my class?"

Only then did she belatedly realize Hermione had joined the class; ever since their big argument in class last year, Hermione had dropped Divination and hadn't chosen it in her fourth year either.

"I'm just concerned about Harry, professor." Hermione forced a smile, "Can you check if there's anything ominous? Like anything ominous about Harry?"

Mention ominous and Professor Trelawney seemed particularly excited.

In terms of ominousness, she considered herself quite an authority.

"Of course, of course!" Professor Trelawney took a deep look at Harry, "There is definitely something ominous—I see it, I see it... among us, there's a betrayer..."

"Who is it then?" Hermione eagerly asked.

"Anyone could possibly be it; their double-dealing is never surprising." Professor Trelawney spoke in a chant-like tone, "You must keep your eyes open, this betrayer may be someone you consider impossible to betray..."

"So you might as well have said nothing." Harry suddenly spoke out: "So can I understand it as, the person who ate a sandwich for breakfast has eaten one more sandwich than the person who didn't eat a sandwich?"

Silenced by Harry's comment, Professor Trelawney said nothing.

She suddenly sat down, her eyes dull like a black beetle as if she had lost her dreams, looking utterly dejected.

The classroom fell into silence, with even the sound of students' even breathing now clearly audible.

None of them wanted to break this rare silence, because who knows what "ominousness" Professor Trelawney might start spreading again if the silence breaks.

Though her predictions are unreliable, no one wants to hear, 'you're going to die'.

After a while, she sighed and announced the end of class.

"You may have hurt her feelings." Seamus said from the ladder as they climbed out of the classroom.

"Oh, I don't think she's hurt." Ron laughed sarcastically, "I think she feels embarrassed having been exposed."

"You can't say that, Divination is just like that." Hermione said nonchalantly, "You use some ambiguous words and let you match them to yourself..."
