One day, a Japanese high school boy named Kaien Arashi was coming back home after school.
On the way, he noticed a crimson-colored shiny ring lying on the ground. Curious, he picked it up and slipped it into his pocket.
That night, while Kaien was having dinner with his family (his mother, father, and younger sister), the ring accidentally slipped out of his pocket and fell in the kitchen.
At midnight, Kaien woke up to use the bathroom. But when he walked into the hallway, he froze in shock.
A C+ rank demon was standing in the kitchen, devouring his entire family. The demon had crawled out of the crimson ring, which had expanded into a glowing portal.
Terrified, Kaien ran out of the house and kept running for 15 minutes straight. But soon, he realized he was trapped in an infinite loop—no matter how far he ran, he kept ending up in the same place.
Then, he saw another ring—this one glowing purple. Unlike before, Kaien didn't dare to pick it up. But suddenly, the purple ring pulled him in by force. He screamed, but no one came to help.
When Kaien opened his eyes, he found himself in an ancient ruined city. There, in the center, he spotted a mysterious box covered with a red cloth. Driven by curiosity, he pulled the cloth away and opened the box.
From inside, a dark, purplish, sticky liquid surged out and forced itself into Kaien's body through his mouth. He screamed, cried, and struggled—but eventually, he felt his body becoming lighter, stronger, and more energized than ever before.
Beside the box, he discovered an old book. When he opened it, he read the shocking truth about the liquid inside him:
> "This liquid is not just a curse. It is the essence of the legendary Dragon Emperor, Emperor Shadros, also known as Shadow.
He was the first Dragon Emperor, a master of dark fire magic, and the strongest being in history."
According to the book, Shadow was kind-hearted and once belonged to a rich family. Despite his power, he used his strength to help the poor and protect the weak.
2000 years ago, a portal opened between the demon realm and Earth. Shadow fought to protect humanity from the invasion. Together with his right-hand man, he defeated the demon armies, slaying thousands—leaving only the Demon King and his son, the Demon Prince.
But in the final battle, Shadow was betrayed by his closest ally, Yuji Nohara.
Yuji stabbed him 15 times with the cursed Yokara Sword, the only weapon capable of harming him.
Defeated and weakened, Shadow's body collapsed into the form of a dark purplish liquid, which was sealed away in a box—waiting for the day it would be released.
