Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Humiliation

Silas was confused and at the same time shocked when he saw Fidelia sitting down with another man at another part of the expanse.

The feeling of rage and betrayal was filling his chest. He still couldn't process everything. He couldn't remember the last time they fought. Everything was going smoothly. He had hit everything perfectly.

He was wondering why she was acting this way. Maybe she was angry with him at some point.

Then he walked up and got to the table.

"Fidelia," Silas called, his voice echoing in the now-silent restaurant as everyone's full attention turned to them.

Fidelia didn't want to cause a scene. She ignored him but Silas wasn't done.

And then he spoke his words to her.

"Who the hell is he?"

"Silas. Sorry, I didn't introduce you," Fidelia said smoothly. "This is my boyfriend. The man I'll be getting married to."

Saying this, Andreine turned his face toward Fidelia, and then she winked at him.

He closed his eyes like he was accepting his fate. Hearing this, Silas felt like he had been slapped hard.

The people around the restaurant also exclaimed, confused over the drama unfolding before them. Some even stood up for a better view.

They had just witnessed the poor guy getting rejected after proposing… and now she was introducing another man as her boyfriend. The man she was going to marry.

"Boyfriend?" Silas barked, his voice trembling with anger. "Are you out of your mind?!"

"you just humiliated me in front of everyone, and now you're telling me this is your boy..

"Oh, wait..hold on there."

She leaned forward, her voice rising.

"Humiliate you? No, no, no, Silas… you humiliated yourself. Did you actually think I was going to say yes? After all the cheating you've been doing? Did you think I wouldn't find out?"

She made sure her words were loud enough for everyone to hear.

Silas felt like his cheeks had been slapped. He lost his voice.

'What the fuck? How did she know?'

His eyes widened, panic flashing across his face.

"Oh, you thought I didn't know?" Fidelia smirked. "Let me give you a tip he just told me about it."

Silas couldn't even argue. His mouth opened, then closed. Nothing came out.

The man beside her was starting to piece together what was going on, but he remained quiet.

Fidelia caught the look in Silas's eyes and savored it.

This was the look of humiliation. Anger. Annoyance. Pure rage mixed with pity.

All those emotions plastered across his face and she enjoyed every bit of it.

"Good you can't deny it....i like that," she said sweetly. "Enjoy the rest of your evening. Have a good day."

Then she turned to the man at her side.

"Come on, babe. Let's go." Andrian said

They exited the restaurant and she didn't even bother looking back nor did the man holding her close.

Silas could only stand there, staring at the ring in his hand. His world felt wrecked. Completely shattered.

And guess what? It was his partner in crime Bridget.

Bridget.

Bridget also didn't understand why Fidelia had done this… or maybe she did.

'She was too sloppy and always too emotional…She was the one..she ruined my plans'

Adrian didn't say a word as they left the restaurant.

His expression was unreadable, but his hand was steady as he pressed the key fob and unlocked his car. A sleek, black luxury coupe, polished like obsidian under the evening lights.

He walked around to the passenger side, opened the door for her without a word.

Fidelia stepped in, still wearing that calm, calculated smile.

Adrian slid into the driver's seat, started the engine, and pulled out of the lot in silence.

The atmosphere in the car was heavy but not tense. Controlled as calculated. Like two predators quietly sizing each other up.

Only when they were several blocks away did Adrian finally speak.

"Alright," he said, his voice low, the act gone. "You can drop the performance now."

Fidelia chuckled softly, leaning back in the seat. "You're quick."

He glanced at her briefly, then back at the road. "You humiliated a man in front of the entire restaurant and used me as a prop. I'm not sure whether to be impressed or pissed."

"Be impressed," Fidelia replied with a smirk and Adrian didn't answer.

Fidelia's mind was already racing. Step one: complete. She had made Silas look like a fool in public. That humiliation would eat at him. More importantly, she had planted the seed of paranoia.

Now, she would let him stew in it — make him wonder what she knew, who she had been with, and how much damage she could do.

And then? She'd destroy his image completely.

She thought briefly of Mia sitting near the edge of the restaurant earlier. Fidelia had made sure Maya saw her wink before leaving. Good. That meant by tonight, gossip would spread. By morning? Blogs, society pages, whispers at charity brunches. Her little performance would be everywhere.

Perfect.

"Where are we going?" Fidelia asked, her tone casual, almost playful.

"Somewhere I can cheer you up," Adrian said smoothly. Then, after a pause, added dryly, "Or torture you until I get my money back."

Fidelia arched an eyebrow at him, feigning caution. "Torture me? That's a little dark."

"Relax," Adrian replied, still not looking at her. "We're going to my place. It's private, there's no cameras."

She let out a soft laugh. "Good. I like privacy." He didn't answer.

Inside, she was already spinning the next web. This man… She could feel it. He wasn't just wealthy. He was powerful. Dangerous. Exactly the kind of man she needed on her side.

"I'm just glad I wasn't caught up in my little forced act"

'Oops' she thought with a silent smirk. 'That's so bad. You're were already chosen to be the male lead in my story'

After several minutes, the car arrived at a classic rich villa that screamed money and exclusivity.

Adrian parked, stepped out, and opened her door again. No words. Just a subtle gesture for her to follow.

Fidelia stepped out, straightened her dress, and followed him inside.
