Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: This Guy Is Beyond Saving

The commotion immediately drew the attention of nearby S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

Coulson rushed over and looked at the ravaged confinement room, asking in surprise, "What happened here?"

Du Mu pointed to Loki, who had lost the effect of the illusion on the floor: "Look, caught another intruder. This one calls himself Loki."

Coulson: "..."

Why are all these self-proclaimed Norse gods flocking here?

Yesterday, it was Thor, the God of Thunder. Today, it's Loki, the God of Mischief.

Is the next one going to be Odin, the All-Father?

When Coulson learned that Loki had used legendary magic and confirmed it after checking the surveillance footage, his expression immediately turned grave.

He said solemnly, "It seems this matter is much more complicated than we thought. I need to request more support from the Director."

Coulson immediately ordered the agents to firmly restrain the unconscious Loki and confine him alongside Thor.

And so, Thor and Loki, the pair of troubled brothers, became cellmates.

Thor didn't mind; in fact, he thought having Loki nearby was rather nice.

The disturbance caused by Loki and the magical abilities he displayed quickly drew the intense attention of Nick Fury back at Headquarters.

He immediately raised the emergency response level and dispatched more personnel to the location.

Among them was the Level 7 Agent, Clint Barton, codenamed Hawkeye!

[NPC: Clint Barton]

[Codename: Hawkeye]

[Affection: 40]

[Evaluation: The Avengers Mascot, 100% Hit Rate, 100% Win Rate in Team Fights]

"So, could someone tell me what emergency is worth dragging a poor soul who was just about to enjoy his holiday across half the globe to fly back?"

Clint, with his beloved compound bow strapped to his back, looked extremely annoyed.

He had been working for S.H.I.E.L.D. for so long, and this was his first proper vacation. Now, he was suddenly recalled by Nick Fury for overtime.

It was easy to imagine how much resentment Clint was harboring!

That damned one-eyed slave driver!

Coulson explained, "We found an alien object and two extraterrestrials who claim to be gods."

Clint was taken aback.

He had only been on holiday for a few days—had S.H.I.E.L.D.'s scope of operations expanded to include aliens now?

"Clint, long time no see." Du Mu greeted Clint from the side.

Clint was a little surprised: "It's you, Du Mu."

He and Du Mu had a history of getting acquainted through a friendly competition.

Of course, he didn't mean a real fight, just a friendly test of skill.

They were both renowned marksmen within S.H.I.E.L.D.

When they met once, Clint proposed a shooting contest, and Du Mu readily agreed.

They decided to use their respective best weapons, set up an extremely small target a few hundred meters away, and attack simultaneously based on a countdown timer, to see who could shoot faster and more accurately.

Clint naturally took out his bow and arrows. The instant the countdown hit zero, his arrow flew from the string, hitting the target precisely.

However, he still lost in the end.

The reason was simple.

Du Mu suddenly pulled out a rocket launcher and annihilated the target area, along with Clint's arrow.

Afterward, the guy actually had the nerve to claim it was his best sniper rifle—it just had a slightly larger caliber and a slightly bigger bullet.

Since then, Clint had completely abandoned any thought of competing with Du Mu again.

With Clint, the Hawkeye, taking charge, Du Mu could continue to slack off and read comic books, occasionally going to chat with Thor to inquire about things beyond Earth.

According to Thor, there were Nine Realms in the cosmos.

These realms were connected by the World Tree but maintained a delicate balance, generally not interfering with one another.

They included Midgard (Earth, where Du Mu was), Thor's homeland Asgard, the Frost Giants' Jotunheim, the Dwarves' Svartalfheim, and so on.

To travel freely between the Nine Realms, one would need an extra-dimensional teleportation artifact like the Bifrost.

Of course, the vast universe contained much more than just these nine realms, with countless alien races and planetary powers, making it all quite complex.

"System, are these areas all explorable?" Du Mu asked.

[Yes, all areas are open-world. Players are free to explore anywhere]

"Awesome!"

Du Mu once again praised the game's freedom, which allowed him to explore even beyond Earth.

He thought the System was going to say, "The area ahead can be explored later."

Later that night.

Du Mu, who was guarding the hammer, suddenly received a message.

Loki had escaped!

Du Mu immediately rushed to the scene and looked at the grim-faced Coulson and Clint.

"What's the situation?"

Coulson said gravely, "Loki woke up a little while ago. He seemed to use some kind of magic and suddenly vanished from the confinement room."

Du Mu asked, "What about Thor?"

"He's still inside, but he seems a little off."

Hearing this, Du Mu walked into the confinement room and saw Thor standing listlessly, his eyes vacant.

Du Mu asked curiously, "What's wrong, Thor?"

Thor's voice was heavy: "Loki returned to Asgard. He told me that if it weren't for me, Asgard and Jotunheim wouldn't have gone to war, and Father wouldn't have died. It's all my fault."

"Then why didn't he take you with him?"

"Because Loki has reached a truce with the Frost Giants."

Thor's voice was filled with bitterness and self-pity: "But the condition was that I, the culprit who caused the war, must be exiled forever on Midgard."

Du Mu raised an eyebrow: "But didn't you say you were the heir to the throne?"

Thor's spirits sank even lower: "Because of my recklessness, Mother has given the throne to Loki. Now, Loki is the King of Asgard."

"Your little brother told you this?"

"Yes."

Du Mu was somewhat speechless: "How do you know if what he said is true or false?"

Thor answered without hesitation: "Loki would never lie to me. He said that while I was exiled, he led Asgard's army against the Frost Giants, charged in and out of Jotunheim seven times, and killed several million Frost Giants before reaching this agreement with Laufey, the King of the Frost Giants."

Du Mu: "..."

I can now be a hundred percent certain it's all fake!

Does this Loki really think he's the descendant of a God of War? Killing several million Frost Giants?

That claim is more outrageous than Nick Fury doing a pole dance in S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters!

Du Mu couldn't help but say, "Didn't you notice anything wrong with that?"

Thor nodded heavily, serious: "I did notice something. There aren't that many Frost Giants in Jotunheim. Loki must have miscounted."

Du Mu: "..."

Forget it, this guy is beyond saving.
