Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

"Master Kars, it is time for dinner."

With Sakuya's arrival, Koakuma realized that evening had already fallen.

"That's enough for today then." Koakuma closed the magic book and rose from Kars's lap. Quite a lot of time had passed without her noticing, which surprised her. Pondering the reason, she glanced at Kars a few more times.

"Finally, time to eat. Koakuma's lessons were a little boring." Kars hadn't been able to muster much enthusiasm for magic that wasn't what he wanted, but he hadn't interrupted because Koakuma had been so enthusiastic about teaching.

"Hmph!" Koakuma, who had been feeling quite friendly just moments ago, huffed in annoyance at Kars's comment and walked away without looking back.

"Master Kars, you shouldn't say things like that in front of a young lady. It will make her unhappy." Sakuya advised Kars on proper manners, knowing that he would encounter similar situations with other girls in the future.

"Is that so? I understand." Kars nodded, then followed Sakuya to the dining table, which was already set with a lavish meal. The sight and smell of the appetizing food made Kars, who hadn't tasted Sakuya's cooking in ages, eager to start.

"So eager, aren't you? I was going to say something." Remilia watched Kars immediately begin eating. She had intended to speak, but seeing his current state, she dropped the idea and picked up her own knife and fork.

"Hey, Kars, are you sleeping with Flandre later?" Flandre asked Kars if he intended to sleep with her. Kars actually wanted to say yes, but he realized his little aunt's bed might not be suitable for his size.

"Little Auntie Flandre, your bed is too small. There's no way I can sleep with you now, is there?" Kars's response made Flandre visualize their relative sizes and her bed, concluding that he was right. This made her mood drop, but she quickly came up with a new solution.

"Then Sister's bed should work, right? Let's all three sleep together!" Remilia's bed was the biggest in the mansion. Flandre believed her sister's bed would definitely be large enough for Kars and both of them. She had never tried something like that before, and she was immediately excited.

"But won't that be inconvenient? I always get up at dawn to watch the sunrise. Will that disturb you?" Kars was concerned his routine would affect his two little aunts. It wasn't an issue when he slept alone at home.

"A vampire sleeping at night? That's so strange." Remilia couldn't help but comment. It was highly unusual for a creature active at night to want to sleep at night.

"But I'm used to this schedule. Besides, I think this routine is great—my body is getting better and better." Remilia couldn't help but look at Kars's physique again.

Could this lifestyle be why Kars developed so quickly? Remilia considered this possibility. Looking at her own small, cute body, she wondered if adopting the same schedule would make her grow as fast.

Why not try it? It's not a big deal. After thinking for a moment, Remilia made her decision. She would try it for a while and see the results. If it worked, great. If not, no big loss.

"Alright, Kars, you'll sleep with me tonight. Wake me up when you get up."

Sakuya looked concerned when Remilia made this decision. "Mistress, are you sure about this?" Sakuya was worried her Mistress wouldn't adapt to such a sudden change in her schedule. And why had she suddenly decided to follow Kars's routine?

"Why would this be a problem for me?" Remilia confidently raised her head. In her mind, this was something she could easily do.

Seeing this, Sakuya said nothing more. If it didn't work out, she supposed Remilia would stop.

Later that night, Kars lay in Remilia's soft, large bed, taking a deep breath of her familiar scent—a mix of sweetness and blood.

Remilia and Flandre, both in their nightclothes, lay beside Kars. Both were wide awake, showing no signs of sleepiness.

"Damn it! I can't sleep at all!" At this hour, she would usually be outside walking, enjoying the moonlight, or drinking tea. Being confined to bed was completely unfamiliar.

Remilia turned her head and saw Flandre was equally awake, climbing onto Kars and shaking him.

"Kars, Flandre just can't fall asleep. Why don't you tell us a story, like Flandre used to tell you? Maybe that will help us sleep."

"A story, okay." Kars got up, found a storybook on the shelf, then hugged Remilia and Flandre, and began to read. However, as he read, Kars fell asleep himself, long before Remilia and Flandre felt drowsy.

The storyteller falling asleep first was unexpected for Remilia. Flandre tried to wake Kars, but Remilia stopped her.

"Flandre, let him sleep. Kars is tired, and since he's used to this routine, he won't be energetic tomorrow if he doesn't rest well."

"Then what should we do, Sister?"

"How about I read the story to you?" Remilia took the book from Kars's hand and prepared to continue the story. She had Flandre lie down next to her, and she hugged Flandre with one arm while reading the rest of the story.

As time passed, Flandre fell asleep in Remilia's arms while listening to the story. Remilia, too, felt fatigue setting in and closed her eyes, quickly falling into a deep sleep. As the two sisters nestled together in slumber, Kars naturally turned onto his side and wrapped his arms around them. Soon, only the soft, even breathing of the three filled the room.
