Naturally what Kael had said was the truth, as he knew what the conditions were for the competition to become the next family head after the world turned upside down with the descent of the dungeons.
If it had been before, Kael definitely wouldn't have been able to help anyone become head of the Aurelius family, because the decisive factor back then was which heir could generate the most profit.
When Selene heard about Kael's continuous words explaining his capability and potential, even to the point that he was confident he could help his father to become the family head, she instantly became serious and thought about it for almost half a minute.
"So, you're saying that if I hire you to protect me now, you'll help my father become family head?" she asked, still sounding confused by the shocking proposal.
Had anyone else made such a claim, she would have dismissed them as a clown or a con artist.
But this was the man who had triggered the world announcement; Selene believed he would become at least one of the strongest Awakeners, if not the strongest.
Kael shook his index finger slowly. "No, no, no… you misunderstood, let me clarify this first!"
He then explained slowly, "I said I can help your father. That doesn't mean I will help him. Understand?"
Before Selene could respond, Kael raised his finger and continued. "However, if you're able to afford my protection service, I would definitely consider helping your father to become the family head if his offer interests me."
"Of course, if your uncles and aunties offered me a much better condition, I might even help them instead. But, under the condition that their offers are much better compared to your father's. I'm not an ungrateful person, so I definitely would prefer to help someone who had helped me when I needed it." Kael explained with a calm expression.
"The choice is yours." Kael leaned back, letting her think.
He had already said the things that needed to be said to maximize the money he would get from at least protecting her at the moment.
His original aim was simply the penthouse and three large units for Uncle Owen's family, Fenric and his wife, and Vanya with her sister, but with a little negotiation he hoped to secure even more.
But after thinking about it again, he might be able to get a few more rooms since he believed in his mouth's ability.
Truth be told, he actually didn't know much about how rich those top families were, because he was from a poor family, and after his family's death, his only goal was to become stronger and find a way to resurrect his family.
Even though he had quite a bit of money in his safe account, it was from his hard work when he became a model before being kicked out of nowhere because of that bastard, who was actually the same person as the one who ratted him and almost caused his death in his previous life.
While waiting for Selene to sort her thoughts, Kael walked around and picked up a cup of water before coming back to his seat.
After a minute or two, Selene looked at Kael with a complicated expression, as she was also confused about what kind of offer would interest him.
"May I ask, what kind of offer are you really expecting?"
Kael thought for a moment, then replied casually. "Well, this is negotiable. Ideally, I'd like a stake in the Aurelius Group."
Aurelius Group was the parent company that owned multiple companies in multiple sectors, and one of them was running in real estate.
The Aurelius Group—parent company of several firms, including a real-estate empire was worth a fortune. Kael intentionally named a lofty price as a negotiating tactic; his true goal was the penthouse and several suites in Celestine.
He guessed that the Aurelius Group's total wealth was probably around a few billion dollars and at most around ten billion dollars.
Kael thought that from such a high price at the start, he would be able to reach his goal at the end of the deal.
"This… I'm sorry, but even I hold only about one percent of the shares," Selene admitted, scratching her head.
"So little?" Kael murmured. He began to worry the penthouse might be out of reach as he'd heard it was worth millions.
He then asked casually, as he was really curious about how much their net worth was, "By the way, what's the Aurelius Group's net worth?"
Selene looked at him with a weird expression before answering it casually. "Roughly three hundred billion dollars."
Spurt!
Kael spewed his water, crushed the cup in shock, and splashed Selene in the process.
Naturally, the water was thrown into Selene's face, and she could only wink her eyes a few times, feeling disbelief that someone just spat a mouthful of water on her face just like that.
"I'm sorry, my undead subordinate just made a problem that made me mad for a second just now." Kael giggled and apologized as he immediately took a tissue and helped her wipe the water off her face.
"It's okay." Selene replied and somewhat blushed a little.
After calming down in front of the dispenser by drinking a lot of water, Kael went back to his seat with another cup of water as his previous cup was broken.
"Let's get back to the topic then." Kael said while calculating in his heart about Selene's net worth.
She said that she owned around 1%, which meant that her wealth alone was around 3 billion dollars.
'Fuck!'
'Should I rob her since she's an easy target?' Kael shook his head and calmed himself down once again as his greed just took him over for a second.
"As I said before, it's negotiable." Kael smiled and continued, "You could pay in another form, like this apartment. For example, you could just give your—"
Before Kael could finish his sentence, Selene interrupted him with an anticipatory expression. "What about I give the entire Celestine Apartment to you as payment? It's under my name, so I can do as I please—"
Spurt!
Kael spat a whole mouthful of water once again, as he was shocked that Selene intended to give him the whole building just like that, as if it was nothing.
Truth be told, Kael was about to say that you could just give your penthouse and a few rooms to him, and he would be more than happy to take it.
"Apologies. My stupid undead subordinate just made another problem that really surprised me." Kael helped Selene once again in wiping the water on her face.
Cough!
Kael coughed as he accidentally looked below and saw the wet, voluptuous body.
"Anyway, I don't mind you giving me this Celestine Apartment as payment." Kael looked away and stood upright.
He continued while walking toward the lobby. "We'll handle the property transfer tomorrow—I'm busy today."
"Alright, tomorrow it is." Selene replied with a smile as she was extremely happy inside because she was able to hire Kael with a mere Celestine Apartment.
Meanwhile, Kael was also in an extremely good mood, thinking of how much wealth he owns from being the owner of this Celestine Apartment.
After a few seconds, Kael immediately walked back towards Selene because he forgot to ask how much the Celestine Apartment was worth.
"I'd say a bit over two hundred million dollars," she estimated, putting her fingers on her chin while calculating its worth.
Spurt!
Kael spat a whole mouthful of water for the third time before cursing loudly. "Those damn motherfuckers really didn't know how to not create trouble."
"Selene, I'll go discipline my undead. I'll be back," Kael instantly vanished into thin air, feeling somehow embarrassed that he just spat on someone's face three times in a row.
If his mother knew, he would be in huge trouble.
Cough!
Kael appeared once again and reminded her with a serious expression. "Don't tell such embarrassing things to others. Otherwise our deal will be annulled!"
He then patted her head softly and disappeared once again.
…
When Kael appeared on the street, he started to jump around and hummed happily like a kid as he thought about his 200 million dollars' worth of real estate.
Naturally the sight of Kael acting stupidly couldn't escape the others' eyes.
