Chapter 58 - legacy

Thirty years after breaking the curse, Rhys and Liam sat in their living room, both in their fifties now, watching the sunset.

"We've had a good life," Liam said. "Haven't we?"

"The best life." Rhys leaned against him. "We built something real. Helped people. Loved each other well."

"Any regrets?"

Rhys thought about it honestly. "I regret that Kai died. That six other people across six lifetimes lost their futures because of Pryce's obsession. I regret that Elara suffered. That Cassian failed her."

"But?"

"But I don't regret how we handled it. Don't regret choosing justice over revenge. Don't regret giving Pryce a chance to change instead of just destroying him." Rhys looked at the painting on the wall. "I think we did the best we could with an impossible situation."

"The foundation has helped over ten thousand people in the last decade," Liam said. "Ten thousand people who might have stayed in toxic relationships or been killed by obsessive partners. That's your legacy, Rhys. Not the curse. Not the trauma. The lives you saved."

"Our legacy," Rhys corrected. "You've been beside me every step."

"Partners."

"Forever."

They kissed—soft, familiar, comfortable. Thirty years of choosing each other, and it still felt right.

Outside, the world continued. The Elara Foundation grew. Rhys's books helped more people recognize abuse. Liam won cases that protected survivors.

And in the In-Between, Pryce continued his quiet work of becoming someone who might, eventually, deserve peace.

Not redemption. That wasn't for him to claim.
