Chapter 178 - Chapter 178: A Strange Experience

Chapter 178: A Strange Experience

"Come on, come on up! The clouds on this Sky Island are way too fun!"

Roy bounced on the white clouds, laughing like an idiot. Something felt off though. Why did he suddenly have Luffy's character design?

But who cared?

The clouds were amazing. The elasticity was insane. It was like the whole island was one giant trampoline.

Still… the atmosphere on the ship felt wrong.

Boa Hancock sat atop her pet snake, and casually reached out to tease him.

"Let me ask you. Are your fangs poisonous? Or rather… do you know any snakes whose venom can paralyze him?"

Salome flicked his forked tongue, staring at his mistress in confusion. Why was she asking that?

"Huh?" Roy blinked. "When did Hancock go back to being a queen again?"

He looked around, more puzzled the longer he stared. Something was definitely strange, but he could not put his finger on it.

Lying on the soft white cloud, Roy turned his head and stared at the ship again. Bored, he reached out and rubbed the cloud beneath him.

On that ship was also Gion, Momousagi, one of the former Admiral candidates.

And yet, in this dream, Gion had already left the Marines for Roy's sake.

"Gion, Gion, come here!" Roy grinned and waved at her.

She glanced at him, gave a faint smile, and said nothing. But her hand rested on the hilt of the famed sword Konpira. Her gaze was unusually gentle, yet it carried a cold edge that made Roy's scalp prickle.

"Snort!"

A sharp voice cut in.

"My brother is the worst! A complete good for nothing!"

At the bow of the ship stood Charlotte Linlin.

She was eternally youthful, breathtakingly beautiful, one of the world's most beautiful queens, and also the female Pirate King. A pink cowboy hat sat on her head, with a light pink ribbon tied around it. Her pink hair fell gracefully down her back, glowing under the sunlight.

Linlin really was the queen of side profiles.

A ring gleamed on her hand.

Linlin said she had spent a long time obtaining a magical metal that could delay human aging without limit, and even slow the progress of illness without end.

Pure gold.

She had waited for her brother Roy.

Back when Roger was about to die from sickness, Linlin had never revealed that secret. She watched another Pirate King die of illness, watched him walk to the execution platform, and never said a word.

Now she stared at Roy with regal resentment, arms crossed.

"Why did Linlin have to wait so many years? You know Linlin doesn't care about them at all!"

Before Roy could answer, a clear voice rang out.

"Heh. I knew it, you scumbag."

On the wooden stairs, Amatsuki Toki sat in a kimono. She wore a faint smile and looked at Roy with the gentlest gaze, but her words were ice cold.

"I'm old, and I didn't win the pure gold from Linlin. So are you going to abandon me?"

From another direction, a warship sailed in from the far end of the Sea of Clouds. Three cannons adjusted their angles in unison, aiming straight at Roy.

An elderly figure stood at the bow, staring at him with sorrow in her eyes.

Tsuru.

"The World Government, the Five Elders, have ordered Roy's arrest!" Tsuru roared through clenched teeth, her aged voice filled with resentment.

Even the purest person could not help but feel resentment.

"I killed them!" "I killed them!"

Two blurry figures rushed in from the assisting warships, staring at the people on Roy's ship with envy.

"Brother Roy… Brother Roy… let's be buried together in the sea…"

Above the Sky Island, a half fish silhouette swept past from below, its voice faint and eerie.

Splash!

A mermaid princess suddenly leaped out of the Sea of Clouds.

She was covered in wounds. Yet when she smiled, her beauty felt chilling.

Boom!

One sea monster after another erupted upward, each one a colossal creature stretching thousands of meters long.

Their shadows swallowed the sky. In the distance, countless warships fired nonstop, turning the horizon into a storm of shells.

"Bye now…"

Princess Vivi stood on the ship with tears running down her face, waving goodbye to him.

Rather than letting everyone turn the world upside down because of some jerk, it was better to destroy him.

Smack!

Beside the orange trees on the ship, Nami snapped her book shut. She looked up abruptly and sneered.

"Adventure? I shouldn't have trusted you in the first place."

There were several more figures on the ship, but they were blurry, indistinct. Roy could not see them clearly at all.

Roy looked around in a panic.

He had only come to Sky Island to have fun. Was it really this terrifying?

In the next instant, mermaids and countless Sea Kings lunged at him. Navy shells rained down. The ship left him behind.

Then Roy was blasted away by a cannonball and crushed into the Sea of Clouds by a Sea King. He could not breathe.

My sword. Right, my sword!

Roy reached for his waist, but the sword his giant master had given him was gone.

No, I also have iron like defense, insane strength, advanced Armament Haki, and Conqueror's Haki!

But the very next moment, Roy felt weak. Powerless.

Wait… what is going on?

A flood of memories slammed into his head.

Did he eat Shiki the Golden Lion's Float Float Fruit?

Roy felt half convinced and half doubtful, but his body refusing to move told him the truth.

He was being suppressed by the Seastone Factor.

Seastone Factor was a substance that existed in the One Piece world. It could exist in seawater through the natural water vapor cycle system, then evaporate, merge into rain, and fall into natural rivers.

When that cycle brought the ocean's currents as a factor, Sky Island also received that substance. That was why Sky Island's White Sea could restrain Devil Fruit users too.

Splash!

Within the Sea of Clouds, the beautiful mermaid followed Roy down, laughing playfully. Then she burst through the clouds and Roy was forced out, plummeting rapidly downward.

The mermaid caught up again. Behind Roy, countless Sea Kings crashed down as well.

"Let's perish together at sea. Mother and Father are gone, Fishman Island is destroyed, and Shirahoshi only has you left."

The enormous mermaid pressed down, grabbed Roy, and squeezed him tightly.

"Help…"

Roy struggled desperately, barely able to breathe.

This Shirahoshi was strange. Nothing like her usual self. Did she want to suffocate him?

Boom!

They crashed into the sea.

Falling from ten thousand meters, it was like slamming onto concrete.

A huge wave exploded outward. Roy's consciousness blurred. He felt his life slipping away.

"The trash has been cleared away…"

In the distance, a tall figure walked toward them.

A female giant with long orange hair and a face similar to Nami's.

But unlike the one Roy remembered, this Gerd was not his friend. She was a giant responsible for cleaning up the ocean's garbage.

Before Roy's awareness faded completely, he vaguely heard the giantess humming a familiar song.

Nestled among mountains, in the open space before a cozy little house, a gentle nun led everyone as they looked at him.

A child's innocent, pure voice seemed to call him back.

...

"Hah!"

Amid the ruins, Roy suddenly sat up, drenched in cold sweat. His heart hammered like a drum.

He looked around and saw destruction everywhere. Wild beast remains were scattered across the ground, and a stench filled the air.

The apocalyptic scene, the crushing fear, the realism of it all… it left Roy unsure if he was still dreaming.

He did not know which side was the dream and which side was reality.

"Everyone…"

Roy's face darkened. He looked sick, pressed a hand to his head, and clenched his fist tight.

Nearby, Gion clenched her fists as well, still holding the posture of smashing down on the rubble beside her.
