Chapter 170 - Episode 169: Being treated like a child

I think I was in the library for about two hours.

"Shall we leave now?"

It seems Hime has already achieved her goal.

There are about five books related to dieting stacked vertically on the desk.

By the way, I've only read one book. And I just skimmed through it, so the contents are a bit vague. All I remember is that exercise is the best thing.

By simple calculation, Hime reads five times faster than me. And I was surprised to find out that she remembered all the content perfectly.

And so I put the book I had read back on its shelf and left the library.

We hadn't decided what to do next, but Hime said she wanted to sit on the bench for a bit, so we decided to do so. She sat down in the same spot where I had been sitting when we arrived. I sat down next to her.

"The most important things are exercise, sleep and diet."

My voice was quiet inside the building, but once I was outside I no longer had to worry about my surroundings.

Hime was also speaking louder than before. Well, she usually has a low voice, but her voice carries well so it wasn't hard to hear.

"It seems that dieting is not something you can cram in for a short period of time like studying for a test. Moderate exercise, adequate sleep, and the right amount of food are important."

He immediately taught me what he learned from the book.

"Onee-chan hates exercise, sleeps about thirteen hours a day, eats exactly three meals a day, has seconds, and even has dessert... so it's no wonder she's gained weight. In fact, if you take into account the calories she takes in, it's not surprising that she's even heavier. From that perspective, you could say that onee-chan's constitution makes it hard for her to gain weight."

As I listened to her thoughts on these things, I suddenly realized something.

Is this a roundabout warning to be careful of my unhealthy health?

"Youhei-kun tends to neglect his sleep and exercise, so please be careful."

No, it wasn't even mentioned in a roundabout way, it was pointed out clearly.

It's true, this summer vacation was quite unhealthy... so I have no words to respond.

"That being said, I don't exercise either."

"Hime is just a child, so it's okay, right?"

He's only eight years old. Just being alive is a great thing, but I don't think he's at an age where he needs to be that concerned about his health.

Well, I'm still a high school student, and Hijiri and I are still kids. But we do get sick from irregular lifestyles, so it's something we need to be careful about.

And as I was thinking about that...

"...I'm just a child."

 Huh?

 Hime seemed somewhat dissatisfied.

She looked at me with a small pout on her lips.

"Um...are you angry?"

"No. She's just sulking."

"Are you sulking?"

It's kind of cute that I say it myself.

I really wanted him to apologize and cheer up, but I couldn't help but smile because it was so touching.

Hime seems to be dissatisfied with this too.

"...It's strange. Before, I was happy to be treated like a child, but now it makes me feel a little uneasy."

"Really? No, I'm not treating you like a child."

In fact, he is an eight-year-old child.

I said that not in a spiritual sense, but in a factual sense.

"I know. So, I know in my head that it's an irrational emotion. But I don't want to understand it emotionally, so I got sulky."

"Ahaha. I see."

 Hime is really smart.

She knows in her head that she is being unreasonable, and that is why she doesn't behave unreasonably towards me. However, she is unable to sort things out emotionally, so she is only sulking.

 ...Hmm. This is a problem.

Hime's sulky state was so cute that I didn't feel like feeling particularly remorseful.
