Chapter 97 - Episode 96: Two people who should never meet

--Perhaps the two of them should never have met.

"Yo-chan, who is this woman?"

"Yohei-kun... who is that child?"

Two little girls are having a heated argument in my room.

One of them is Hime, a beautiful girl with clear white hair and vivid crimson eyes.

She is currently eight years old and in her second year of high school. She is a young girl with a genius mind that allows her to skip grades.

The other little girl's name is Hareyama Koharu.

A lively girl with black twin tails that always sway. A six-year-old with adorable round black eyes. This girl is a first-grader, just like her age, and is also my niece.

A young girl from my class and my niece happened to run into each other at home.

I hadn't expected the two of them to meet, so I was quite flustered.

"P-Peace you two...!"

"Yo-chan, what do you mean? Was Koharu just a game?"

"I see... so you're saying I was just a game to you?"

 No, no, no.

I'm serious about my relationship with the two of them - but doesn't that seem a bit strange?

They're not dating or anything, and they're both young girls to begin with. It might be a bad idea to call them a playful relationship, but I think it's true that they play together.

However, I didn't have the time to argue against that right now.

"Explain it! Tell Koharu properly!"

"I'd like to know too. What kind of relationship does Yohei-kun have with her?"

The two little girls pushed towards me, and I instinctively fell on my butt.

It was the worst scene imaginable... what should I do?

Why did this situation come about in the first place?

The trigger was...that's right...a single word Hime said yesterday after school.

"I'd like to go visit Yohei's house."

It was late June. The rainy season was still in full swing and the weather was prone to change. Hime muttered this in the classroom after school as a light rain fell outside the window.

"At my house? There's nothing there, and it's small compared to Hime's house..."

"I've never cared about size. In fact, my house is too big and a little lonely, so I think it would be better if it was smaller."

Today I was eating a tall stick of candy that was stuffed with chocolate right to the tip.

There was still some time before Hijiri-san finished his work for the student council, so the two of them were chatting leisurely.

"Besides, it's not like there's nothing at Yohei's house."

"Well, there's nothing interesting really."

It's an ordinary family. There's nothing there that makes them hesitate to invite Hime over.

However, Hime shook her head and denied my idea.

"But I have Youhei. That's enough for me."

Why is this child saying such wonderful things?

Of course I couldn't help but be happy when he said that.

"Th-That's right...Thank you."

"No, no. It's the truth, and I'm actually grateful to have met you, Youhei. I'm the one who should be thanking you."

Truly, every word is so adorable that I just want to hug him.

Of course, this was a school, so I wouldn't do anything so bold, so instead I quietly handed Hime some sweets to express my gratitude.

"Eat as much as you want."

"Yes. Let's eat.... munch."

Hime took a bite, starting from the tip and eating it bit by bit, all the way to the base, including my finger.

Watching the scene, I couldn't help but laugh.

 She's really a cute girl.

Being asked by such a wonderful girl...there was no way I could refuse.
