Chapter 26 - Episode 25: It's just a rumor after all

The reason Hime is enrolled in this school is because she is a genius and does not need to attend school.

Apparently, there are rumors about it.

"Of course, I don't know if it's true or not. I don't believe it either... but there's a reason why I can't just laugh it off as a complete lie."

"reason...?"

"Big sister is really like that."

Then, with a heavy expression on his face, Hisamori said...

"That's so—so stupid."

Hearing those words, I instinctively held my head in my hands.

Before I met Kiyoshi, I would have thought it was a lie... but after meeting him at lunch and talking to him, I couldn't deny it.

It's true that that person doesn't seem to be good at studying.

"Big sister, your grades seem to be off the charts... but of course, they're on the low side."

"...Even though he looks so smart?"

"Yes. She's ladylike, beautiful, and calm...but apparently, Onee-san has the worst grades in her grade. Her scores are so low that even her friends won't let her see her test scores."

If you don't say anything, she's a beautiful honor student.

However, when you open your mouth, your true character comes out... to put it nicely, you could say that he was laid-back, but to put it badly, he gave off a careless vibe, so I couldn't deny it when people said that my grades were bad.

From the looks of it, it seems like he really doesn't like studying. He's the kind of person who is far removed from stuffy spiritual theories like hard work and perseverance.

"But still, it's just a rumor whose origin is unknown... I don't think it's true, but when it's based on your sister's grades, I can't say with certainty that it's not true."

"...Yeah, I don't believe it. But I'm glad I got to know about Hime and Hijiri. Thank you."

 A little, though.

I feel like I have a deeper understanding of the Hoshimiya sisters.

"Hime's achievements are so great that those around her feel intimidated."

"Because of this, the facts about the two of them have been slightly exaggerated."

Now that I knew these two things, I decided I didn't need to listen to any more rumors.

Hisamori-san may know of some other rumors... but they're probably all unreliable. That's why she's not keen to talk about them.

If so, there's no need to ask any more.

It doesn't seem to be too far off from my understanding, so that should be fine for now.

If you want to know more about the Hoshimiya sisters, it's best to meet them in person.

"Senpai, thank you so much for today! Thanks to you, I was able to hear Hoshimiya-san's cute story and it was so much fun."

Also, Hisamori from the newspaper club was a nicer kid than I expected.

Although the honorifics are strange, they are polite and courteous.

(Surprisingly... there aren't many bad people in the world.)

Hime was the same. She gave off a cold impression, but when I got to know her, I found her to be very warm.

I feel so ashamed of myself for ever doubting Hisamori.

I was sure this girl would never write a bad article.

And so, with Hisamori-san seeing me off, I left the empty classroom.

We ended up talking for a long time, and it was already almost evening.

I also wanted to go home quickly, so I quickly returned to the classroom.

Then, an unexpected person was there.

"...Night."

There is a female student sleeping in Hime's seat.

Her facial features were similar to Hime's, but her physique was the complete opposite.

(Wh, why Hijiri-san?!)

Yes. There, Hoshimiya Hijiri-san was there.
