Breathing in and out, I drove my small Honda up the old drive. Since the last time I remembered, the once black gates were now higher, mettle, and closer together. The drive itself was paved with black instead of the cement grey. Trees lined the straight drive way instead of the bushes, and they looked young. The grass was cut in lines, to show a design of straight lines. I gripped the stirring wheel. I had often wondered what would have happened if Libby hadn't died. Would I have been seeing them happily married? Maybe three kids by now? Living in his family house. His father did make it clear that he was not giving the house up. What changed that then if Kaz was living in this house? Then, the massive white mansion came into view. The exterior looked well modernized. With white new siding, new middle fountain that the drive circled. The stables were modern, new wood and paint but I didn't notice any horses in the field. I parked my car to the side of the house. I grinded my hand into the stirring wheel, closing my eyes, I prayed for strength. Lord knew I was going to need it the next three to four months. I got out of my car taking my suit case with me. I could always come back for my laptop and bedding. I went to walk up the steps when the two French door swung opened. I looked up, gasped, as a blond women was storming out of the mansion. I stepped aside seeing that she hadn't seen me in her fit of rage. Few seconds later, the tall broad frame I never wanted to see again came after the suit case carrying blond and I moved further out of the way. I watched his lean body walk down the steps as I leaned against the railing.
"Come on, Agatha. They are only kids."
"Your 'Kids'." She even dropped her suit case to make the quotations in the air. "Are little devils. I will never get this green dye out of my hair." She wailed.
"Ok… I can say replacing your shampoo with green hair dye was a bit harsh."
"A bit… really?" Her pale hands went to her hips as I folded my arms over my chest, just watching. My suit case leaning against my legs as I watched the lean strong back covered by a tight T shirt.. white for all colors. I noticed his shoulders tense. I wanted to laugh cause it was a brilliant prank.
"Then just give me time to get a replacement for you."
"Forget it." She yelled at him. We both watched as she got into a little red car, revved the engine in a last attempt at a dramatic exit, and it squealed off. He rubbed his forehead, his other hand on his waist as I watched this magnificent man move.
"Now what am I going to do?" He seemed to ask himself. He still had that nice medium sexy voice.
"I have a solution." I said making him jump. I use to do that to him quit often. I was a skilled ninja, so I would prank with the stealth I seemed to have. Or just having light feet and a natural quietness. "I see I still have the knack to surprise you. It seems that your Nanny has taken the last straw and left." He didn't say anything just took an up and down look at me. I was wearing my black jeans, red tight T shirt, and white tennis shoes. Nothing that was worth taking a second glance at my body or attire. But like that first time I had ever laid eyes on him, he just grinned and those green soul searching eyes, gleamed.
"Looks like I need to watch my back more often then." And I needed to cage my heart with double locks, combination locks, and blood of virgin.
"Always a good idea or you will never be able to keep Nanny here." He chuckled, shaking his head. He ran his tan lean hand through that thick blackness. His face was shaved cleaned. He started up the steps.
"Let's hear what your solution is then." He walked right past me as I extended my handle and rolled my suit case in. As we went in, and I closed the doors, the twins were sitting on the step going up. The entrance hall still it's natural beauty and spacious. The right door would lead into a den area, that is if he didn't change much. The left door would lead to a ball room that included a door to a grand dining room. There also was a door right under the steps that lead back into the servants quarters and the kitchen. If the quarters were still being used in that fashion. Might be where I would be sleeping. Kaz stopped in front of the two children as I looked down at them as well. They were sitting close to each other. The boy holding the little girls hands in his lap as her little head was bent down.
"I did it, daddy." He said looking straight at his father's face. "But… look what she did to Quin." He made the girl stand up with him, guiding her to their father.
