Chapter 10 - Deal.

The next day, I shifted back into my colossal form of power and might as within moments, I appeared above the elven forest, the twin suns shining onto the wild and untamed forest below.

I soon arrived at the place I spoke with Luna the day before, and to my surprise, she was already there, as if waiting for me.

In a fairy-like voice, she said to me. "What can I do for you, so quickly after we last parted?"

I looked down at her with my blazing ruby eyes. "I am here for a deal between our territories, I am in need of food, something you probably already realised. In return I propose this, I will formerly make an alliance with you and be the deterrent against any kind of attack. You and the elves may live in peace again."

She seemed to be surprised, yet again, by my confidence and bravado. "You would seriously do that for food? Becoming our ally has a lot of drawbacks."

"There are many benefits to having an alliance with you, you are a powerful individual yourself, I can tell. Along with having an ally on the border of my city that I can trade with in the future will benefit you immensely as much as myself."

Luna seemed to think calmly, before nodding in quick agreement. "Very well, Tiamat. I will agree to this alliance. The first shipment of food will arrive by tomorrow."

I nod lightly. "Good. May our partnership last an eon."

---------------------

I arrive back in my make shift throne room, more like treasure room as I perch myself on the gold and valuables left behind by the clergy, in the back of the room, near the doors to the gardens. I used 1% of my faith for that recent stunt. I sighed wistfully.

I really need to save the rest in case of an emergency, I do not believe anyone would be stupid enough right now to go after an ancient dragon, that is most likely a demi-god. But you never know.

Time to rest. One thing I have learned, is dragons are quite lazy and do have instincts to collect treasure. Two things I am doing right now, as my lackey, I mean, my first servant Charlie, gets the people on side.

---------------

A few weeks later:

Within the once dilapidated city, where its people were unhappy, grieving and downtrodden, was now a completely different scene. The city was still run-down, Rome was not built in a day. But, there was no sign of war, it was peaceful, people walked about getting on with their day, as they mingled and their faces shone with a light and healthiness that has not been seen in years.

Tables were set up in the square, where the people can get food in exchange for working. If they aided in the rebuilding of the city, they get paid in food. More food than they have ever seen in their life. Led by Charlie and some like-minded clergy who stayed behind. This idea was Tiamat's whom Charlie was praising like he was some god already.

The people have started to feel less fear from this mysterious ancient dragon, demi-god, and more reverence. Tiamat has felt it, his faith has even gone up a couple of percentage points already.

Another idea he had, to further gain the peoples respect, was to build a cemetery for the fallen in the wars that they were forced to fight. This was the first new area of the city to be built. With people hired to tend to it like a war memorial. In the future, when the city has its own military, this place will be where the fallen heroes come to rest.

His presence and changes he has already rolled out, have the people signing his praises. Food for work, protection by a near-god-like being and a place to live that they can be proud in.

The elves who Tiamat has an alliance with, can be seen regularly delivering supplies, not just food, for construction efforts and they have slowly started to be less snobby and hostile to the humans in the city, some have even chose to stay, which Luna finds no issue with, as long as they are safe.

You could say, the city is seeing better days now, and the people are starting to see Tiamat, as not an invader or oppressor, but a leader and a goldy one at that.
