As Osiris walked toward the engineering area, Swann was blowing a gasket at a newly dismounted Vulture hoverbike, cursing profusely and accusing a mechanic of messing up the torque on a jet buffer valve.

"Elementary data protocol decryption." Osiris brushed past the topic, his gaze landing on the vehicle before him.

It was a quintessential Vulture: an open-top, two-seater design with the driver's position up front, a weapon operator's station in the rear, and armed with a dual-barreled Gatling cannon.

The streamlined body hovered half a meter off the deck, relying on its main rear thrusters and multiple attitude-adjusting nozzles to maintain balance and maneuverability.

"Vulture—an old buddy of mine," Swann patted the chassis, his tone filled with the affection an engineer holds for a proud creation. "Fast, nimble, can climb almost any slope, and slippery as a bug in rough terrain.

The stock cannon handles light armor and infantry just fine, but the real prize is its ability to deploy Spider Mines. Those things seek targets on their own—great for locking down chokepoints or ambushing pursuers."

Osiris nodded slightly, his sensors logging every detail of the Vulture. "A reconnaissance and harassment platform emphasizing extreme terrain navigation and automated defense deployment. The two-person architecture balances handling and firepower, though the open canopy and light armor are its primary vulnerabilities regarding survivability. Its design philosophy leans toward that of a battlefield infiltrator and opportunist."

"Hit the nail right on the head!" Swann's eyes lit up, clearly delighted to encounter someone who understood his design logic. "It was never meant for head-on brawls. But our newer toy covers those shortcomings pretty well." He pointed toward a larger, far more intimidating vehicle parked nearby.

It was a Diamondback hover assault tank. Unlike the light, agile Vulture, the Diamondback was heavier and bulkier, featuring an enclosed cockpit that provided baseline protection. Its signature weapon—a railgun—currently sat folded quietly atop the hull.

"The Diamondback," Swann introduced, his tone growing a notch more serious. "Built to deal with the big guys. The slugs fired by this railgun can tear through heavy armor, and the kicker is—it fires steadily at full throttle. Chasing trains on Tarsonis relies entirely on this 'mobile turret' trick."

"Sacrificing a degree of extreme terrain adaptability and tactical versatility like Spider Mine deployment in exchange for specialized heavy-target anti-armor strikes, limited frontal defense, and the core advantage of shoot-on-the-move capabilities," Osiris analyzed. "Its role is a high-speed heavy hunter, relying on high mobility to secure advantageous firing positions for sustained output. The two vehicles represent a fork in the tactical application of hover platforms: all-domain harassment/reconnaissance versus focused heavy-armor hunter-killer roles."

Swann stroked his stubbled chin, nodding repeatedly: "Spot on. The Vulture acts as the eyes and the blade; the Diamondback is the fist. Still, hover systems themselves come with plenty of limitations—stability in complex electromagnetic environments, high energy consumption, and this damned buffer valve..." He remembered his earlier frustration again.

"The stability of a hover system hinges at its core on the precision of attitude control algorithms and the response speed of propulsion units to energy pulses," Osiris remarked. Simultaneously, he manipulated the datapicker on his wrist, bringing up a series of complex 3D schematics projected into the air between them. "In another technological system known to me, vehicles with a similar role take a different approach."

Swann leaned in curiously. The image displayed a design known as the Land Speeder or, more generally, an attack bike. Its lines were blockier and sharper, oozing pure utilitarianism and brutal aestheticism.

"Are these... bikes?" Swann stared at the heavy, single- or double-seated vehicles usually operated by Space Marines.

"They can be categorized as such. They similarly emphasize high mobility, but their design philosophy leans heavily toward serving as an extension of heavy infantry," Osiris explained, pointing at the structural diagram. "Your Vultures pursue extreme lightness and terrain adaptability, whereas these vehicles stack as much armor as permitted within size and weight constraints. Their levitation principle does not rely solely on thrusters counteracting gravity; it frequently integrates anti-gravity fields with vector propulsion. While their top speed on flat ground might not match a Vulture, their short-burst dash capabilities and stability in harsh environments are far superior."

He toggled the projection, showcasing different weapon loadouts: "Weapon selections also reflect this difference in mindset. Beyond twin-linked bolters or Gatling cannons, they frequently integrate heavier options, such as multi-meltas, missile launchers, or even twin-linked lascannons. They are not mere scouts, but heavy shock cavalry meant for high-speed line-breaking and assault. Swann stared at the designs, particularly a menacing model equipped with a thick melta gun at the front, muttering: "Using a hoverbike as a blitz tank... these designers sure have guts. Still, this combination of anti-gravity fields and vector propulsion sounds like it might offer better adaptability in complex terrain and tighter energy consumption control? And this melta weapon... what's the principle behind it?"

"An ultra-high-temperature energy projection weapon based on subatomic matter disruption, exceptionally effective against heavy armor and fortifications. Its underlying mechanics share commonalities with your fusion cutting technology, though its energy-focusing method is far more extreme," Osiris answered calmly, then deactivated the projection.

"Divergent technological paths stem from differing battlefield environments, resource foundations, and military philosophies. The designs of the Vulture and Diamondback are highly optimized solutions within your sector's resource and technological framework, particularly regarding their division of labor and synergy against high-mobility, combined-arms threats."

He looked at Swann: "I am quite interested in the technical details of how you resolve the Diamondback's railgun power supply stability, calibration, and recoil mitigation during high-speed movement. Furthermore, regarding the Vulture's Spider Mines, is their autonomous target identification and tracking algorithm based on acoustic, vibrational, or other spectral signatures?"

Swann froze for a moment, then burst out laughing, slapping Osiris heavily on the shoulder (a motion that caused Osiris's stabilization systems to make minor posture adjustments): "Haha! Good! Skipping the fluff and getting straight down to technical bones! Come on, let's sit over there and chat. I'll have the boys fetch a couple cups of... well, skip the motor oil, fetch a couple high-energy drinks! I'll break down all the mess with that buffer valve, and tell you exactly how the railgun's capacitor array charges up and maintains precision within 0.3 seconds!"

The two walked over to the adjacent break area. Soon enough, technical blueprints, energy curves, and formulas began swapping rapidly across data slates.

At the other end of the hangar, Raynor was leaving with the vital piece of evidence, planning how to leverage it to shatter Mengsk's rule.

Yet here, a conversation between engineers transcending cosmic boundaries had only just begun—pure, focused, and centered around hover systems, weapon energy management, and automated sentry tech.

The Hyperion sailed onward through the starlit void, each soul busying themselves with what they deemed most paramount.
