Chapter 401 - Gene-seed

Under Osiris's precise regulation and strict monitoring over several months, the first batch of twenty units of new Gene-Seed successfully completed the foundational training cycle.

This critical phase lasted approximately six to eight months, during which every single Gene-Seed primordium was placed in a specialized nutrient solution and developed steadily under strictly controlled culture conditions.

The primordia, suspended within the nutrient solution, exhibited active and healthy biological characteristics.

Monitoring data indicated that their biological activity readings and gene expression profiles consistently remained within the preset optimal parameter range, without any abnormal fluctuations.

Compared to the standard Imperial Fists Gene-Seed, this batch of new primordia displayed superior coordination and inherent potential, and the synergistic effects between various biological indicators were significantly enhanced.

Throughout the entire training process, Osiris maintained round-the-clock close surveillance.

He continuously tracked the developmental status of every primordium via a complex sensor network, regularly fine-tuning the nutrient solution composition to ensure the culture environment remained in an ideal state.

The laboratory's sterile environment and energy barriers were also consistently maintained at the highest standard, providing reliable assurance for the stable development of the Gene-Seed.

When the final training cycle successfully concluded, Osiris performed a systematic verification of all the data.

He individually compared the biological activity curves, gene expression sequences, and physiological function indicators of every Gene-Seed, confirming that all parameters met or exceeded the expected standards.

After completing the final quality assessment, he sent a detailed interim results report to Rogal Dorn via the highest-level encrypted communication link.

This report not only covered all technical parameters and training results but also included preliminary functional assessment data.

In the report, Osiris objectively detailed the advantageous characteristics of the new Gene-Seed compared to traditional seeds, while also pointing out several potential issues requiring further observation.

The entire reporting process strictly followed the standardized format of the Adeptus Mechanicus, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the information.

Shortly after the report was delivered, Dorn's reply arrived directly at Osiris's laboratory via an encrypted channel.

The communication content maintained his characteristic brevity: "Results confirmed. Proceed to the next phase: screening of suitable candidates and initiating the neophyte training experiment. Necessary permissions have been granted."

Almost simultaneously, the laboratory's perimeter defense nodes detected the arrival of a Black Templars squad.

Sigismund, the leader, clad in his signature black Power Armor, stopped at the command node outside the core experimental area and sent a meeting request to Osiris via the communication channel.

Osiris authorized the opening of the isolation door for the outer corridor.

Sigismund entered the buffer zone alone, stopping just before the final barrier to the core experimental area.

His gaze swept over the precise array of instruments inside the laboratory, then settled on Osiris's mechanical body.

"Magos Osiris," Sigismund's voice came through the helmet speaker, carrying his characteristic steady tone, "By order of Primarch Dorn, my Templar Knights and I will be responsible for the full security of this neophyte training experiment. We will ensure the experimental process remains undisturbed."

Osiris's mechanical body rotated slightly, and his optical lenses focused on Sigismund.

"Permissions confirmed. The experimental area is divided into three security levels. Your forces may be stationed in the first and second level zones; the third level core zone is restricted to authorized personnel only."

"Understood," Sigismund replied with a nod. "We will establish defensive positions on the perimeter and implement strict vetting for all personnel entering and exiting. Should there be any security concerns, I will report them to you personally."

"Periodic security reports must be synchronized via the dedicated data link," Osiris added. "During the experiment, all unplanned external visits must undergo dual authorization."

"The Black Templars will strictly execute the security protocol," Sigismund said, lightly tapping his breastplate with his right hand. "May the Emperor safeguard the successful completion of this experiment."

After the brief and efficient conversation concluded, Sigismund turned and left the buffer zone to begin deploying his Templar Knights.

Osiris, meanwhile, redirected his attention to the experimental control console and accessed the candidate screening database.

Under the clear division of labor, with each performing their respective duties, the two initiated the new phase of cooperation.

Osiris's forge ship, the "eternal seeker," slowly entered the dedicated berth at the Necromunda starport.

This vessel, equipped with a Warp Drive Engine, was particularly conspicuous in the starport, its unique structure forming a sharp contrast with the surrounding conventional ships.

The starport reception team was already lined up and waiting.

The Governor of Necromunda and his key officials, dressed in formal attire, respectfully watched as the landing ramp opened.

Sigismund stepped out first, the cross insignia on his black Power Armor gleaming coldly under the starport lights.

Osiris's massive mechanical body followed closely, his hydraulic systems emitting a steady operational hum.

"Welcome to Necromunda," the Governor said, stepping forward and saluting the pair solemnly. "The orbital elevator is ready and connects directly to the Spear of Dorn at the top of the main Hive City."

Sigismund nodded slightly: "Lead the way."

The group passed through the starport's dedicated corridor and entered the special orbital elevator leading directly to the main Hive City's summit.

The elevator descended smoothly. Through the observation window, the spectacular sight of the entire Hive City could be seen: densely layered structures stretched to the horizon, countless smokestacks continuously spewed industrial exhaust, dyeing the sky a gray and yellow hue.

The orbital elevator finally docked at the Imperial Fists fortress located at the very top of the main Hive City—the Spear of Dorn.

This stronghold was constructed directly atop the main Hive City structure; its thick fortress walls contrasted sharply with the chaotic Hive City buildings below.

The array of gun batteries on the fortress roof pointed toward the sky, maintaining a constant state of high alert.

After settling into the fortress command center, Osiris immediately began his work.

He accessed the Gene-Seed database for all suitable-aged youths on Necromunda and set strict screening parameters based on the characteristics of the new Gene-Seed.

Sigismund, meanwhile, commanded the Black Templars warriors to take over key strategic points throughout the fortress, establishing a tight security perimeter.

The Hive City nobles displayed an extremely high degree of cooperation.

The Governor personally arranged for administrative personnel to assist with the screening work, while ensuring all procedures adhered to the highest security standards.

Inside the laboratory at the top of the Spear of Dorn, Osiris began the final preparations.

"The Gene-Seed from the eternal seeker has been transported to the laboratory via the dedicated channel," Sigismund reported via the communicator. "All security measures are in place."

Osiris's mechanical fingers input a series of commands on the control console. "Screening procedure initiated. Testing for the first batch of candidates will commence tomorrow."

Within this fortress named after the Primarch, and under the strict protection of the Black Templar Warriors, a crucial experiment that could rewrite the future of the Astartes Chapter was about to officially commence on Necromunda.
