Chapter 1 - A Doctor’s Burden

A Doctor's Burden

"Being a doctor really sucks the life out of you."

As Lee Han muttered this and flopped onto the desk, Subin, an intern from the emergency department who was standing nearby, patted his shoulder.

"Have a little pity on me, will you?"

Without lifting his head, Lee Han glanced up at him. "Pity for what? We're in the same boat."

Just as the two were talking, the phone rang.

"Emergency."

"I hate this."

They both grumbled, but their steps were quick.

"Slow down, Lee Han."

In the middle of the chaotic crowd, he just caught sight of Subin's shoulder. Suddenly, he bumped into someone. Lee Han's fingertip just barely brushed against that person's. It was only for a moment, and in that instant, everything went dark, as if the power had gone out.

"Subin!"

"Oh, Physician Lee is awake! Sister, Physician Lee is awake!"

Who was this Physician Lee? And why was he in a house now, when he was just in a hospital? What was going on?

"Son, are you feeling alright? How are you doing?"

Mother. His mother had passed away a long time ago, and this person wasn't his mother.

"Auntie, I think you have the wrong person."

The elderly woman fell back in her seated position. It was then that he noticed her clothes. Huh? Was this transmigration? A dream?

"My dear son, are you okay? We must go see the shaman."

Just as he was about to follow the frantically leaving auntie, a young man entered the room. He was wearing clothes from the Joseon era. He'd just been watching a historical drama about the King the other day—was he actually transmigrated today?

"Brother Han, are you feeling better? Court Lady Subin is also worried about you."

"Wait a minute. What dynasty is this now?"

"Huh?"

The young man's expression was the same as the auntie's.

"Who is the current King?"

"Lee Lee, Brother Han."

Oh no. Of all the dynasties to transmigrate into, why did it have to be this complicated one?

"I'm going to sleep for a bit. Tell Mother I'll take the medicine later. Go on, I need to rest."

The young man left, looking confused. Never mind the transmigration for now; this young doctor just wanted to sleep.
