Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The Telepathic Reckoning

Watching Zhou Yi stealthily move behind her, Jean Grey immediately turned around defensively. "What do you want?"

"I just want to help, nothing else!" Zhou Yi touched Jean Grey's arm, his fingers tracing her elegant curve before subtly taking her hands.

The contact made Jean feel a momentary burning sensation. She instinctively tried to pull her hands away, but Zhou Yi held them firmly. His deep, alluring whispers reached her ear: "This is just teaching, don't be afraid, follow me slowly..."

Jean was both timid and impulsive, wanting to resist, but her resistance was too weak. She was manipulated by Zhou Yi, their fingers intertwined in an intimate exchange. Dumplings quickly formed under their shared guidance. As success built, Jean slowly gave up her resistance, ignoring the scorching warmth behind her and his increasingly inappropriate actions.

Zhou Yi's hands moved beyond hers, tracing her arms and caressing other parts of her body. His rough palm, carrying an arousing warmth, gave Jean an electric sensation. Under this strange feeling, Jean couldn't help but soften, slowly leaning into his embrace.

Seizing the moment, Zhou Yi lowered his head and took an action beyond just holding hands, forcefully sealing her lips with his own. This immediately made Jean's face flush crimson. She began to struggle violently, using her telekinesis to break free.

Zhou Yi had no choice but to let go and retreat a few steps.

Jean leaned on the table, took a deep breath, and glared at him. "You scoundrel, you're too much!"

"Am I?" Zhou Yi scratched his face, seeing her anger, and quickly raised his hands. "Alright, I apologize, I was wrong. I was just a little carried away, you know."

"Carried away? Can that explain being carried away?" Jean retorted fiercely, glancing at the messy kitchen. "You finish the rest yourself." She flung her hand and left.

Zhou Yi sighed, buried himself in work, and finished the remaining dumplings with incredible speed, using both his hands and his telekinesis. All three dumpling types—pan-fried, steamed, and soup-stewed—were nearing completion.

He used a weakened super vision to check on the others; Charisse and the children were having fun upstairs. Jean Grey was sitting alone on a wicker chair in the garden, lost in thought.

Zhou Yi poured two glasses of rum at the bar and brought one to Jean.

"I'm sorry, Jean. This time I went too far." Zhou Yi raised his glass. "I didn't realize you found me so hard to accept."

Jean silently picked up the glass and drained it. After a moment, she spoke: "No, it's not your fault. It's my fault, I indulged myself too much."

She poured out her conflicted feelings. "Our relationship isn't as pure as yours and Ororo's. Rationally, I should keep my distance from you... but sometimes I can't control myself. It's like there's another me inside my heart, and she keeps telling me, possess him, possess him... I can't control her, and you, you scoundrel, always like to take advantage when I'm vulnerable. I must control her! I can't betray Scott, I can't betray Ororo."

"Why not!" Zhou Yi suddenly spun the wicker chair to face him. "After all that you've said, what exactly do you want to express? Your guilt, your realization, or are you saying you want to become a morally superior nun?"

"Jean Grey. We are human, not monsters who cut off all desires. It's normal for you to have feelings for me, and for me to have feelings for you. Why control it? Why not indulge? Is it because of your ridiculous moral views?"

"That's not ridiculous, Zhou Yi. We're impossible. You have Ororo, and I have Scott..."

"I don't care. I'll talk to Ororo. Scott won't be my match, neither in ability nor in emotion."

"You're crazy. Ororo will be heartbroken if she finds out. And who gave you the confidence that I would definitely choose you over Scott?" Jean said, full of disbelief.

"Follow your desires, indulge yourself. I always have confidence in myself, and as for you, I believe you will ultimately choose me." Zhou Yi stared at her and laughed unrestrainedly.

"Damn it, you're dreaming! Mm..." Before she could finish, Zhou Yi sealed her mouth with a wild, impactful kiss, instantly freezing her mind. He pressed on until Jean snapped back to reality. She tried to push him away, but failing, she closed her eyes and bit down hard.

A strong smell of blood instantly filled her mouth, stopping Zhou Yi's actions. He licked his lips and smiled. "How was it? Not bad, right!"

"How could it be? Are you crazy? I really want to kill you right now." Jean's rationality vanished, and she felt a genuine urge to kill him.

"Kill me? Are you sure? Is that your truest feeling?" Zhou Yi challenged.

Jean remained silent. In the kiss, she couldn't deny she was captivated; the blood and desire intertwined, giving her an indescribable longing. But she suppressed it.

Zhou Yi, seeing her hesitation, gently wiped the fresh blood from his mouth and pressed her further. "Why don't you dare to admit it? You clearly have desires within you. Why do you have to control them? This isn't fair to me, Jean!"

Faced with his relentless pressure, Jean helplessly held her head, pleading. "Please don't force me, okay? I don't want to be like this. I just want to be a good woman. Why are you forcing me like this? Why?"

Her mental state became unstable; Zhou Yi felt her power stirring, briefly shifting toward the terrifying, microscopic power of the Dark Phoenix sealed within her heart, before instantly receding.

Zhou Yi immediately softened his approach, reaching out to stroke her short red hair gently, comforting her in a low voice. "Jean, I'm not forcing you. I just hope you can see your own heart clearly. Believe me, you are a good woman, and only a good woman like you is worth me pursuing at all costs. I can take my time and wait for the day you accept me."

His soothing worked. Jean returned to her intellectual state. She grabbed the hand near her ear, placed it against her face, and looked at him with a very deep gaze.

"Give me some time, okay? I really don't know what I'm thinking right now. I don't know how to face it. So, can you give me some more time, please?"

Zhou Yi gently caressed her face, responding with a smile. "Your wish is my command, my lady!"

Blushing, Jean moved his hand away and quickly walked off, saying, "I'm going to check on the Children, and... Ororo will probably be back soon."

Zhou Yi, meanwhile, smugly stroked his chin. Despite the painful bite, the outcome, for him, was quite satisfying.
