"Stop fidgeting with your tie," Dmitri said, adjusting Marcus's collar for the third time.
"I can't help it," Marcus said, staring at himself in the mirror. "I'm nervous."
"You're marrying the woman you love," Viktor pointed out. "What's there to be nervous about?"
"What if I mess up my vows?" Marcus asked. "What if Karl drops the rings?"
"Karl has been practicing for weeks," Dmitri assured him. "He takes his job very seriously."
A knock came at the door, and Karl peeked in, wearing his small suit.
"Is it time yet?" Karl asked eagerly.
"Almost," Marcus said. "You ready?"
"I've been ready forever," Karl said, clutching the ring pillow protectively. "I'm not going to drop them. I promise."
"I know you won't," Marcus said, hugging Karl. "You're doing a very important job today."
The ceremony took place in a small, elegant chapel overlooking Central Park, and only their closest friends were present.
