"He'll be here in ten minutes."
Marcus set his phone down and looked at Aria.
"You're nervous," Marcus said, moving to stand behind her.
"I just want answers. Three weeks of working with someone we can't see, and can't verify." Aria's voice was tense. "Every instinct I have is screaming that something about this feels off."
"We've verified his intelligence. Everything he's given us has been accurate."
"I know. That's what bothers me." Aria turned to face him. "No one is this good. No one has this level of access without being part of the system in some way. Either he's deeply embedded in their organization, or..."
"Or what?"
"I don't know. That's what's making me crazy." She rubbed her arms. "His voice. Every time we talk, there's something familiar about it. Like I should know who he is. But I can't place it."
"Maybe you worked with him before. Back when you were doing contracts for Vera."
