"Coffee's ready."
Aria woke to sunlight streaming through the windows and the smell of fresh coffee. She'd slept twelve hours straight. Her body was still exhausted from the journey.
Marcus appeared in the doorway. Carrying a tray. Coffee. Toast. Eggs. Fruit.
"Breakfast in bed?" Aria pushed herself up carefully. "This is new."
"Get used to it. We're doing things differently here." Marcus set the tray on her lap. Sat on the edge of the bed. "How did you sleep?"
"Better than I have in weeks." She took a sip of coffee. It was perfect. The way she liked it. "What time is it?"
"Almost noon. You needed the sleep." Marcus gestured at the windows. "I've been up since six; I have checked the security system and made sure we're alone. We're clear."
"And your company?"
"Functioning. My board is handling everything, and I checked in briefly to give them some direction, but they're mostly on their own now." He watched her take another bite. "How's the pain?"
