Chapter 92 - CHAPTER 92:OPERATION:FOXLIGHT

The bridge route looked peaceful from far away.

Snow on stone. Wind over a ravine. A straight path between two busy zones.

Up close, it was a toll gate built out of bodies.

Stone Dragon Borderland Bridge had become a choke point the moment Phase Two made Synth crystals, manuals, and cultivation sites worth fighting over. A mid-tier guild had stationed players on both ends, ranged units on the high ledge, and a "collector" standing beside a wooden sign like he worked for the system.

PAY TO CROSS

Crystals accepted

Manual fragments accepted

It wasn't official.

But it didn't need to be.

A solo swordsman tried to push through without paying.

Three guild players jumped him.

He dropped.

His body faded.

Respawn timer.

The guild laughed, already turning to the next traveler.

ART's jaw tightened. "They're farming people."

NEO's voice stayed calm. "They're controlling movement."

KODA's eyes traced the formation like he was reading lines on paper. "Two front lines. Ranged pocket on the right ridge. One flank squad hidden behind the left pillar. If we hit the hinge, the line breaks."

ART glanced at him. "You saw all that that fast?"

KODA didn't look away from the bridge. "They're not subtle."

They moved down the slope.

No masks.

No banner.

Just three new members with fox badges hidden under their coats and enough talent to be dangerous.

The "collector" noticed them and smiled like he'd been waiting.

"Toll," he said.

ART didn't smile back. "No."

The collector's smile sharpened. "Then you respawn."

Six guild members stepped forward at once.

They didn't hesitate. They didn't talk. They just tried to overwhelm.

ART moved first.

Brush as the key.

Ink as the medium.

Synth into ink.

A black ribbon lifted off the brush tip, tightened, and hardened into a thin blade. ART slid in with clean footwork, ducked a swing, and cut across a forearm. The enemy's weapon slipped, and ART followed with an ink whip snap that yanked the player off balance.

NEO cast a quick shield on ART without needing to be asked. The barrier flashed just in time to eat a hit from the side that would've cracked his ribs.

KODA took the ground.

Chalk hit stone.

Protection Rune on a wood plank near the bridge edge, anchored tight. He fed Synth in steady, not heavy. The rune shimmered clean.

A heavy hitter charged, expecting to crush it.

The plank held long enough for KODA to step out and drive a reinforced punch into the ribs, boxing form tight and brutal. The player folded, gasping, and KODA finished with a second punch that dropped him into a fade.

Respawn.

NEO didn't waste casts.

Spark to disrupt stance.

Frost Thread to slow a step.

Spark again to end it.

Joint kill.

Shared XP.

The toll team's confidence cracked fast, but numbers came next.

More guild members poured forward from the back line.

Ten became fifteen.

Ranged shots started landing.

A blade clipped ART's shoulder.

NEO's stamina dipped from shielding.

KODA's breath tightened because the moment his Synth wobbled, his runes would fail.

ART's ink flickered for a heartbeat.

NEO snapped another shield onto him, saving his focus.

KODA drew a quick pocket-defense: Protection runes layered and anchored against the bridge pillar, creating a small safe angle that forced enemies to funnel.

They held, but it was obvious.

Three players could fight skill.

They couldn't fight manpower forever.

Up on a higher ridge behind the toll line, four white fox masks watched.

White base.

Dark eye slits.

Markings like aurora stripes.

Gold.

Pink.

Brown.

Blue.

Blade.

Nyx.

Cyberius.

Optimus.

They weren't rushing in to "save" the trio.

They were measuring them.

Cyberius leaned slightly toward Nyx, amused.

"Cute reflexes," he murmured. "Runs through your lineage."

Nyx didn't turn her head.

"Talk again," she said.

Cyberius immediately lifted both hands. "Compliment. Relax."

Optimus watched KODA's rune placement. "The runesmith's smart."

Blade didn't answer.

His gold-marked mask stayed fixed on ART's movement, the way the kid recovered even when Synth flickered.

Nyx's voice dropped. "They'll get overwhelmed."

Blade's reply was calm. "At the critical moment."

On the bridge, the guild line surged.

The pocket-defense started to crack under repeated hits. ART's Synth dropped from constant shaping. NEO's stamina thinned and one spell came out sloppy. KODA forced his breathing steady again before another rune could activate.

The collector smiled like the outcome was decided.

"Enough," he said. "Drop them."

Then the air changed.

A heavy metallic footstep hit stone.

Clang.

A tall armored figure stepped onto the bridge—steel body, runic plating, cold light in its eyes.

Iron Knight.

Blade's machine.

The toll line hesitated.

Then four masked figures stepped in behind it.

Optimus moved first, one sword in hand, no shield. He hit like pressure made human—short steps, heavy strikes, the flat of the blade cracking armor and dumping breath out of people. Players dropped and faded one after another.

Nyx slid through the line and erased gaps. Not wide swings—clean, close cuts and fast finishes. Bodies faded. Respawn timers stacked.

Cyberius fired with ugly accuracy, breaking legs, breaking stance, deleting casters mid-cast. He laughed once like it was fun.

Blade didn't flood the field with Synth.

He didn't need to.

The Iron Knight hit the center like a battering ram and turned the toll formation into panic. One punch, one fade. One step, one fade. The line broke.

The collector staggered back, face pale. "Who are—"

Blade stepped forward.

Gold-marked fox mask.

Dark eye slits.

He didn't raise his voice.

He didn't explain.

He just moved one hand.

The Iron Knight slammed down.

The collector faded.

Respawn.

The remaining guild players ran, choosing respawn safety over staying in range.

The bridge was open.

Players who had been waiting behind rocks and carts stared like they'd watched a myth.

The system chimed for the trio.

Joint Kill XP Shared

ART: +410 XP

NEO: +395 XP

KODA: +420 XP

PVP Kills Confirmed (respawn enabled)

ART: +2 kills (+80 XP)

NEO: +1 kill (+45 XP)

KODA: +2 kills (+90 XP)

ART's level bar jumped, but didn't tip.

Level 11 — XP updated

NEO's and KODA's updated too.

Nyx turned to the trio.

"You held," she said.

That was praise.

Blade stepped closer and looked at them one by one.

"You didn't fold," he said.

ART couldn't stop himself. He pointed at the masks.

"So… can you even see with that on? Or do you all walk blind?"

Nobody answered.

Cyberius only patted ART's shoulder like he was congratulating him for asking something stupid at the wrong time.

"Don't worry," Cyberius said. "You'll find out."

Blade turned away first.

"Move," he said.

And as they crossed the bridge together, the Realm didn't need an official guild stamp to understand what had happened.

Aurora was still pending in the system.

But in Stone Dragon Empire?

Aurora had just become a contender.
