Chapter 4 - First Day At School

Mylo clutches his backpack tightly as he watches the back of his father's car disappear in the corner. He wants to stalk around to lament and hate his life but he knows better than to waste his time on the impossible. He immediately takes out his school files, he pulls out the campus map before cross hanging his backpack.

"Stay invisible," He repeats his father's words, his eyes on the ground and on the map as he begins on his steps. Already used to the feeling of being alone everywhere he goes, he can do this.

It's just that he continues walking for over forty five minutes, unable to find the administration office and he doesn't dare to ask any of the students. He looks around tiredly, wiping the sweat off his face with the back of hand. This school is large, lush with historic architecture. The energy is so palpable with everyone navigating freely in groups to different buildings.

Mylo fixes his clothes instinctively and begins studying the map again and luckily he finds the administration office.

"So you are transferred from Pentoville?" The office man looks at Mylo's files and then at the computer, his glasses on his nose, "You are lucky Lantern City University only admits students with perfect straight A results or you wouldn't stand a chance of transferring here from such a poor place."

If Mylo is uncomfortable he doesn't show it, he nods politely, agreeing to the man.

He looks up at Mylo, "How old are you? What year did you finish high school? You look too young to begin college," He goes back and places a stamp on one of Mylo's papers, not necessarily interested in Mylo answering his questions, "Your student ID will be ready in two days, come back then," He waves Mylo off, "Pick up your time table at that shelf on your way out."

Mylo politely bows, "Thank you, Sir," He hides his confusion on the man's mental well-being because he is not in the place to judge anyone. He picked up his time table and walked out of the office, not without glancing at the wall clock. It was 9: 55 and it seems he might have already missed his first lecture according to the time table. He decides to get acquainted with the buildings, searching for his lecture hall.

But the problem is, Mylo wants to pee and he wants to go badly. He doesn't know where exactly he is but he knows he is on floor 3 on God knows which building. There were not many students passing through this floor and not many people were in the halls. Mylo noticed the restroom sign for males on his left side and immediately went there.

He held onto the doorknob suddenly feeling reluctant to open the door.

Something is telling him not to open.

"Stay invisible," He can control his bladder, he could hold in his urine for a few more hours. He decided to trust his guts and let go of the door. He is about to walk away when a loud thud lands on the door from the inside.

Mylo jumps, frightened.

All the students who were nearby didn't spare a second chance to the door as they all began running, murmuring something among themselves.

Mylo stares at the door curiously, confused, wondering. He blinks repeatedly, his feet pulling him towards the door. He turns the doorknob and opens the door but he couldn't push in as if a weight was placed on it. It wasn't, because the next moment Mylo pushes the door again, the figure leaning on the door steps away and he falls inside, face flat.

A loud boo followed in the large bathroom, followed by cries and sad whimpering.

Mylo instantly stands up, keeping his eyes on the ground as it immediately sinks to him what he has done. There was a boy beaten to a near death in the center of the room where he was under the feet of a figure in a black lace-less ankle boot. He had three more people accompanying him by his side.

Mylo looked left to four boys bending over to touch their toes in just underwear. Their clothes neatly folded on their backpack in front of them.

They were three more figures leaning at his back, with one leaning against the door he came in from.

Mylo immediately knew at this moment that he had fucked up. He had crossed over to the wilderness and he was going to be skinned alive. But he didn't allow this situation to deter him because he had a fair share of bullies throughout his life in high school and at home and he was going to exercise his fath, mind his business and stay invisible.

He clutched his bag and bows silently, walking into the toilet as he locked the door. He opens his trouser to take a pee but nothing comes out as his body already recognizes that he could be dead at any moment from now. He could recognize the silence outside and how their eyes were boring into him when he was standing there.

Mylo flushes the toilet even when he doesn't use it and steps out to the sink. He washes his hands, feigning nonchalant in his attitude.

He bows again when he is done and he is about to head to the door when the figure in front of it walks toward him, blocking him from leaving.

"Where does this brat think he is going?"

The two figures behind him laughed.

One of the figures said behind, "Is he new?"

"Hey," The one blocking the door pushed Mylo on the shoulder, "Are you mute?" Then on his forehead, "You have some nerve, don't you think?"

Mylo immediately bows, his hands on his knees, "Please I don't want any trouble. I just wanted to use the restroom."

"He said he doesn't want trouble," One of the figures laughs, running his hand through his hair as he turns to the figure in the middle, "Ryker, the boy says we smell like trouble. What should we do to him?"

The silence in the room grows thick at the mention of the name and Mylo's chest suddenly gets too tight.

Ryker gets up from his seat, standing on the back of the boy under his feet. The boy groans, his bloody face squeezing in pain as he stays still, being a good foot mat for the Alpha.

With no care in the world, Ryker dash forward, leaning towards Mylo's neck from behind. He takes a long sniff, causing Mylo to jump around, falling on his butt.

Ryker doesn't help him even though he is close enough to stop him from falling down. He takes a step backward watching Mylo curiously, his blue eyes searching for something on his face.

Mylo doesn't dare to look this person in the eyes, he seems like the leader of this group and he knows better not to offend him. He gets up, cleaning his dirty hands on the side of his trousers, "I didn't mean to offend any of you, I just needed to use the restroom."

A smack lands on Mylo's head from the back, "Watch your tone, you twink!"

Mylo doesn't react, he clenches his fist, looking up to Ryker in the eyes and a gasp escapes his lips. He blinked away, his entire body shaking with fear, "I didn't do anything wrong, this is the school premises and all I did was use the restroom. If anything, you and your friends are wrong. Both in the eyes of man and that of God," Mylo swallows dryly, his heart beating fast, "I'm going to report all of you to the professor."

A loud laugh erupted in the room and Ryker scoffed, he shakes his head and walks out of Mylo. Everyone wears surprises on their faces.

"Aren't you going to teach this brat a lesson? He broke your rules."

Ryker looks over his shoulder, his eyes taking in Mylo again, "Let him go, Lenn," He walks out, leaving Mylo totally speechless.
