Chapter 1 - Training Arc : 1 Morning of the cursed day

The sound of a clock echoed softly in the quiet room — tick... tick... tick.

A faint stream of sunlight slipped through the curtains, landing on the face of a boy sprawled across his bed. His name was Kajhunomo. Eighteen years old, black hair slightly messy, eyes that always carried a tired calmness — as if he had already seen too much of the world.

He groaned, turning on his side.

"Ugh... another day."

For most people, the 20th century was a time of peace and progress. But for Kajhunomo, every morning felt heavy — like an invisible fog pressing against his chest. That fog wasn't just in his mind. It was real.

The world had forgotten that Negativity wasn't just an emotion. It was a living force — something that could infect human hearts and turn them into something worse than monsters.

Kajhunomo didn't know yet, but his destiny was tied to that darkness.

He sat up, rubbing his eyes. The wooden floor creaked under his bare feet. His small room was simple — one desk, a few old books, a broken mirror, and a faded photo of his parents. He looked at that photo for a moment longer than usual.

"...Morning, Dad. Mom," he whispered.

Then, he stood and stretched. The day had to begin — even if his heart didn't want to.

He threw on a white T-shirt, jogging pants, and his worn-out sneakers. Opening the door, he felt the cool morning air touch his face.

The streets were quiet. Only a few early risers passed by — a milkman, a group of students, an old man sweeping the sidewalk. Kajhunomo slipped his earphones in and began his morning jog.

The rhythm of his steps and the faint hum of music calmed his thoughts. But the peace never lasted long.

Halfway through his route, he stopped near the park.

There — a black mist lingered around an empty bench.

No one else seemed to notice it. People walked past, talking and laughing, like the darkness wasn't even there. Kajhunomo's heart pounded.

He knew what that was.

A Negative Aura.

Ever since he was ten, Kajhunomo could see these strange dark energies floating around certain people or places — the result of hatred, despair, or grief. His grandmother once told him it was a curse, but later he learned it was much more.

He took a cautious step closer. The mist moved, curling like smoke.

"Why... is it stronger today?" he murmured.

And then — he heard it.

A voice, faint and trembling, as if whispering directly into his soul.

> "Save me..."

Kajhunomo froze. His breath caught in his throat. The mist suddenly gathered into a form — a twisted shadow with red eyes and long, claw-like hands.

People around him walked by, laughing and chatting — blind to the danger right beside them.

The creature tilted its head toward Kajhunomo.

"You can see me... can't you?"

Kajhunomo clenched his fists. "Yeah... I can."

The shadow lunged forward. Instinct took over — Kajhunomo dodged, rolling to the side, his heart hammering. A child nearby dropped his ball and looked around, confused. Kajhunomo bit his lip. He couldn't fight here — not with people watching.

He sprinted into the narrow alley beside the park, the shadow following like a snake of smoke. Once hidden, he turned, panting.

"Come on then," he muttered. "Let's end this fast."

The shadow screeched and dashed toward him. Kajhunomo raised his hand — and his right eye flickered, glowing faintly blue. The air around him vibrated.

> "Negativity... purge!"

A burst of light erupted from his palm, slicing through the darkness. The shadow screamed — then dissolved into black dust.

Kajhunomo exhaled, falling to his knees. His chest burned. That attack drained a lot of his energy — and he wasn't fully trained to use it yet.

He looked at his trembling hand. "I really need to control this better…"

From the corner of the alley, a voice spoke softly.

"You handled that curse well — for someone untrained."

Kajhunomo turned sharply. A tall man stood there, wearing a black coat with a silver emblem shaped like a crescent moon. His sharp eyes and calm posture made him look both powerful and dangerous.

"Who... are you?" Kajhunomo asked.

The man smiled faintly. "A question for a question — who taught you to see Negativity?"

Kajhunomo frowned. "No one. I've just… always been able to."

"Interesting." The man stepped closer. "Then fate has found you earlier than expected. My name is Raizen, a member of the Negativity Control Division — we protect the world from cursed energy."

Kajhunomo blinked. "Negativity Control Division? You mean... there are others like me?"

Raizen nodded. "Yes. But only a few can sense the dark force naturally. You, Kajhunomo, are a rare type — a Negativity Slayer."

The name echoed in Kajhunomo's mind.

"Negativity... Slayer?"

"It's not just a title," Raizen continued. "It's a burden. Once you awaken, you'll never live a normal life again. Every curse you destroy eats away a piece of your soul."

Kajhunomo swallowed hard. The air felt colder.

"So you're saying... I'm cursed, too?"

Raizen turned his back. "Everyone who sees the darkness becomes part of it. But if you want to protect others — come find me." He tossed a small metal tag toward Kajhunomo.

On it, engraved in black letters:

Division of Negativity and Magic – Sector 7

Then the man vanished into thin air.

Kajhunomo stared at the tag for a long time.

His pulse was still racing. He didn't know whether to feel fear or excitement.

"Negativity Slayer... huh." He smiled weakly. "Guess my life just got interesting."

---

That evening, the sky bled orange and red as the sun dipped behind the city. Kajhunomo sat on the roof of his house, watching the clouds shift. His mind replayed everything — the mist, the voice, Raizen's words.

He held up the metal tag again. "Division of Negativity and Magic... Sector 7."

Somewhere deep inside, he felt something awakening — a strange warmth that pulsed in his chest. The faint blue glow returned to his eye, reflecting the dying light of the sun.

> "If protecting people means facing that darkness... then I'll do it."

He clenched his fist.

No one else would have to suffer from curses again — not if he could help it.

---

Meanwhile…

In a cold underground chamber far from the city, Raizen stood before a massive glowing circle inscribed with runes. A woman cloaked in white appeared beside him.

"So he's the one?" she asked.

"Yes," Raizen replied. "Kajhunomo. His power is unstable but pure. The kind we've been searching for."

The woman's eyes narrowed. "Then he must be trained. The next cycle of Negativity begins soon. The Soul World is stirring again."

Raizen looked up at the glowing circle — a map of both worlds. "If he fails... both realms will fall."

---

Back at Kajhunomo's home, the air suddenly grew heavy. A faint whisper echoed in the corner of his room.

He turned — and saw a small black wisp crawling up the wall.

"Another one already?" he sighed, standing.

But before he could react, the wisp took shape — forming into a humanoid figure with glowing white eyes.

Kajhunomo's instincts screamed danger.

The shadow grinned. "So... you're the new Slayer."

Kajhunomo's pulse spiked. "Who are you?"

The shadow laughed, its voice distorted.

> "I am the beginning... of your end."

With a single motion, the creature lunged — and the window shattered, spilling moonlight into the room.

Kajhunomo jumped back, his hand already glowing. "Fine… you asked for it!"

> "Negativity—Release Form: First Gate!"

Blue light exploded from his body, scattering the darkness for an instant. The creature screamed, retreating into smoke. But Kajhunomo collapsed to one knee, breathing heavily. His control was weak, and the energy was overwhelming.

He barely noticed the faint mark appearing on his arm — a glowing sigil shaped like a spiral.

---

Outside, Raizen sensed the surge from miles away.

"So… it has begun."

The night was silent, but the world had already changed.

And thus began the story of Kajhunomo, the boy destined to face the darkness between Negativity and Magic.
