Chapter 5 - The Purpose

Good morning, took you long enough to wake up. Victoria's voice was more amused and slightly excited than it was annoyed. "Will you explain now?" Well, you're eager. Victoria's voice was like honey -- sweet, soft, smooth. "I'm not the one who decided to give myself a cliffhanger on my own life." I say, slightly annoyed. Victoria chuckles. Alright, alright. I'll tell you. Get ready while I explain. Now, I didn't tell you yet partially so you would act mostly normal, and partially for suspense. Adira slips into her jeans and nicest t-shirt (meaning whichever was actually clean).

People can be quite persuasive when they want to be. You want to be persuasive, you want to make Alexander Wells fall in love with you. Once he loves you enough to not care about appearances, we'll move on to the next man. Each higher in power than the last. Adira's breath hitched. "What?? I'm trying to flirt with Alexander Wells?" Victoria chuckles. Yes, more than just flirting. Maybe even seducing him if that's what it takes. Of course, you can use rubbers. 'Seduce??' Adira's thoughts seemed louder than her voice "How am I supposed to fuck Alex Wells?"

With gradual intimacy. Now about the welcoming gift. Your touch is quite pleasurable now. Your touch induces endorphins, dopamine, and oxytocin, making him chemically addicted. "Wh- How did you do that?" Adira asks, genuinely confused. Victoria sighs. So I can read your mind, speak to you without anyone else hearing, know exactly how you feel, access Alexander Wells' address, know everything about you, but you draw the line at giving your touch chemical effects? It doesn't have to make sense to you, it just has to work. Adira's phone rings, making her jump, startled. She picks it up, and she frowns when the name lights up; "Mom". She answers, schooling her tone so her mother doesn't notice that she isn't exactly thrilled to hear her.

"Hey Sweetie! How are you? You ran off during the gathering, is everything alright?" She asks in that sing-song concern reserved for scared little kids. "Yes Mom, I'm fine, I was just overwhelmed." She tries to keep her voice the least deadpan she can muster. Adira's mom replies with "Okay Baby. If you're ever overwhelmed you can just tell me or your dad, we know things get a bit too much for you sometimes." Adira is used to this, but that doesn't make the treatment feel any better.

And this is why you need to prove them wrong. Why let them push you around? If they want to treat you like a baby, you'll make then unable to ignore exactly how capable you can be. She says, voice a mix of delighted excitement and slight (distaste/disdain) for her family's treatment towards her. Adira closes the conversation with an excuse about needing to work on a resume. There's a moment of silence before Adira says "Okay, I'll do it." Victoria's voice is pleased. I knew you'd oblige, Adira. Alexander is all alone tonight, trying to distract himself from the emptiness. "But it's Monday, we agreed to Saturdays and Sund-" That, Adira, is for sharing business ideas. She cuts Adira off. This is more of a check-in of sorts. She purrs.
