Orkus woke up in the middle of the night, but… something was wrong.
He wasn't in bed.
He was floating.
His heart pounded as he looked around the dark room, trying to figure out what in the world was happening. Then he saw it.
On the floor, right beside his bed, was his infant son—staring straight up at him.
Eyes glowing.
Unblinking.
Calm.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" Orkus shouted, thrashing in the air like a panicked bird.
Suddenly, the door creaked open.
Footsteps.
A woman's voice echoed down the hallway. "It's three in the morning, goddam—WHAT IN THE DERKUS ASS?!" she shouted, stepping into the room and freezing as she saw the baby.
Orkus dropped to the floor with a thud, gasping.
The baby just smiled. Its glowing eyes flickered like starlight.
