Chapter 7 - Work Smarter not harder

New Haven Settlement looked pretty in the late afternoon sun. The stone streets shone gold as shadows got longer. Players walked around everywhere, trading stuff, showing off their loot, and talking about how real everything felt in Oblivion Online. Even the small things—the way leaves moved in the wind, how water looked in the fountains, sunlight hitting armor—made it hard to tell this was just a game.

Null moved through the crowd, not caring about people looking at him. After selling his stuff, he had enough gold to get ready for the Silver bosses. He opened the trading screen and started buying Iron Swords from players who got them from starter packs—paying double what they were worth. People walking by didn't get why anyone would want such basic weapons, but Null didn't care. These swords weren't for normal fighting—they were ammo for his [Lucky Strike] skill. With his Null-Command trait, he could carry way more than any normal player. He simply didnt have any restrictions.

If I'm gonna fight these Silver bosses, this is how I do it, he thought. Keep my distance, wear them down, and let Stella do the big damage. I'll just be on the side throwing weapons. You know what they say "Work smarter, not harder"

He bought enough swords to fill his whole inventory and stacked health potions over ninety-nine high just for fun since he doesnt have a limit. Well every item counted; with Silver bosses, one wrong move could get him killed. He is still low level and one hit from the bosses can do critical damage to him.

Stella sat beside him, her gold eyes watching the busy market. Null didn't say anything; he didn't need to. Through their bond, he could feel she was ready. She stretched her wings a little, muscles moving under her shiny scales. She's definietly ready to kick some ass.

Damn, even at level ten she's scary, he thought. I just gotta keep her alive while she tears stuff up. Any other player would get wrecked by her stats its not even fair but i know all about that, life is not fair and you just have to keep moving cause no one is gonna stop for you.

When he was done shopping, Null left town and walked toward the valley. Fog hung around the trees, making shadows that moved with the wind. Groups of players stood around, whispering plans and trading stuff nervously. Some wanted to be bait for the Silver bosses; others just wanted to watch what happened.

"Isn't that... the guy who killed the Wolf Alpha alone?" one player whispered.

"Yeah," another said. "First Dawn. On the first day. By himself. While we are stuck doing beginner quests."

Null smiled a little. It's not that special. Just good timing, some luck, and Stella. Most players don't get how huge it is to have a dragon from day one. It's simply cheating.

Still, everyone here acted like they were the best, showing off their gear and levels, thinking they could just smash Silver bosses with pure strength. Null walked past them all, ignoring every offer. His plan was already set: lure the flying boss—the Steel-Claw Eagle—away from the others, hurt it from far away, and let Stella attack when the time was right. The other two—the Corrupted Tiger and Corrupted Lion—he'd deal with later one by one.

Grind levels? Yeah, but that's slow. Too many players would get ahead by then. I need something faster.

The valley entrance appeared through the fog. Shadows moved weirdly between the trees, twisting with the wind. Null counted the players watching—most were just there to see what happened, a few dumb enough to try being heroes or bait. Some players offered themselves to be meat sheilds just to earn some money but you never know. Leo couldve been in their situation if it wasn't for the trait. Sometimes you just have to be grateful.

Through the mist, he saw them: the Silver bosses. Null checked their stats in his head.

[Corrupted Tiger] Level 20 Silver Boss — huge, muscular, with claws that could smash anything.

[Corrupted Lion] Level 20 Silver Boss — big and mean, with smart-looking eyes.

[Steel-Claw Eagle] Level 20 Silver Boss — giant wings, sharp metal claws, watching everything.

I mean what are these descriptions.

His heart beat faster. Stella hits harder than any of them. Her defense is okay, but I gotta be careful. The Eagle—that's the one I pull first. Flying means she can move better. Split it up, and we might actually win.

He hid behind a big rock, hands holding tight to his Frostfang Sword, thinking about his plan. Throw weapons, keep it in the air, don't let it attack much, and have Stella hit it at the right times. Timing is everything.

The Steel-Claw Eagle saw movement and screamed, flapping its wings. Each beat made the fog swirl around, sending dirt and leaves flying. Null made a small signal to Stella, moving his position, and she understood right away, getting ready to fight.

Now or never, he thought, heart pounding.

The Eagle dove down fast, claws out. Null threw his first iron sword using [Lucky Strike], trying to slow it down and make it move where he wanted. Sparks flew when the sword hit its side, making it scream angry.

Stella moved immediately, jumping into the air and swinging her tail, blocking the Eagle's attack. Null ducked as claws hit the rock behind him, sending broken stone everywhere.

It was fast, really fast—but he could see patterns. Every move, every turn, every dive could be predicted if he paid attention. He threw another sword, this time hitting the Eagle's wing, making it fly higher. Stella followed perfectly, diving in for another hit that made the ground shake.

The Eagle's screams filled the whole valley, bouncing off the cliffs. Null hid behind another rock, breathing hard, watching every wing movement. The boss was getting madder, its muscles tightening. Soon it would go crazy—that's when it would be most dangerous.

Halfway there... once it goes berserk, everything gets messy. I gotta be ready for anything.

The fog got thicker, mixing with dust from the Eagle's wings. Players watching from the valley edges looked scared and amazed. Most couldn't understand how Null and Stella worked together so well, or how he knew what the Eagle would do next.

Null got another sword ready, moving a little to trick the Eagle into diving. Stella copied his movement, her tail ready to hit at the perfect time. The air felt electric—that quiet moment right before everything goes crazy.

This is it, he thought, breathing out slow. Every move, every throw, every beat of her wings matters. One screw-up, and we're dead. But if I stay focused, we can do this.

The Eagle screamed again, claws out, wings cutting through the air like knives. Null's arm moved fast, throwing another iron sword. Stella jumped, spinning in the air, her tail hitting exactly right. The boss stumbled, but Null knew it would recover—he couldn't just smash it to win. He needed strategy, good positioning, and perfect timing.

The fight wasn't even close to over. Every second needed his full attention; every decision was important. Null's mind worked fast, measuring distance, guessing where things would move, checking the wind, watching Stella's movement to match it.

We started this fight, he thought, feeling excited. Now let's see how far we can take it.
