Chapter 2 - 2

Wu Di subconsciously covered his stomach, as if his lower abdomen had been pierced by a thief using the spear of longinus. Yes, it was the holy spear of longinus, and Wu Di's memories flooded back like a tide.

He remembered visiting a museum with his girlfriend, and then being stabbed by a thief who stole the spear of longinus.

How innocent was that! Wu Di straightened his body and suddenly sat up from the bed: "I won't let you off even if I become a ghost!"

Before Wu Di could recover and clearly see his surroundings, he heard a soft moan of "Ouch." Having just woken up from a coma, Wu Di rubbed his forehead, which still seemed to be throbbing, and subconsciously asked, "Where am I?"

"Emil, you're finally awake! Oh God, this is truly wonderful!" This voice wasn't Wu Di's, because it was a female voice. The voice was soft and sweet, but different from his girlfriend's.

He looked up, and a pair of big, watery eyes were nervously looking at him.

This was a young, beautiful girl, sitting cross-legged by his bed. Wu Di's body relaxed, and he subconsciously called out, "Sis?"

He froze after he said it. Wu Di was an only child; when did he ever have an older sister?

He slowly observed the girl in front of him. What caught his eye were a pair of very sexy and familiar beautiful legs, wrapped in flesh-colored stockings, with exquisite jade feet subtly visible through the stockings. Coupled with a black and white urban professional outfit, it was indeed his sister Kathleen, Kathleen Longinus, with whom he lived.

Wu Di's mind suddenly became chaotic. When he got up, it was very sudden, and he accidentally bumped heads with Kathleen, who had come to check on him. The soft cry earlier was Kathleen's yelp of pain.

Many memory fragments that didn't belong to him kept flashing in his mind. He asked with some disbelief, "Sis, what happened to me?"

Kathleen, ignoring herself, gently rubbed her brother's head first, then said tearfully, "When the police found you, you were in the outskirts of New York. The Doctor at the hospital said your heart had stopped beating, which really scared me, but thankfully you woke up."

"Ah, is that so?" Wu Di shook his somewhat swollen head, then looked around and indeed found himself in a hospital. However, he wasn't in an emergency room or a nursing ward, but had been placed in the morgue.

The morgue was about eighty or ninety square meters, with no windows, only the usual hospital disinfectant smell. Around him were several bodies that New York Hospital couldn't save, or who had died of old age, waiting to be processed.

It seemed he was one of them. Wu Di touched the tip of his nose. So, he really had died. However, he didn't know why he had possessed this Westerner's body. He knew, of course, that New York was a U.S. city, an international metropolis.

From the remaining memories in his mind, the original owner of this body should have been named Emil Fred Longinus. According to Western naming conventions, most people in English-speaking countries now usually have names consisting of three parts: a given name, a middle name, and a surname.

The given name, as the name suggests, refers to the appellation used by Christians who believe in Christ. The middle name is usually given in memory of an esteemed person among ancestors, parents, or friends. Generally speaking, the middle name has a stronger commemorative meaning, while the surname is inherited from the father's side, only its position is at the end.

Longinus? This is the same surname as the holy spear of longinus that killed him. He wondered if he was a descendant of the Longinus who stabbed Jesus Christ back then.

Wu Di looked at his hands, empty, with nothing in them. So, the spear of longinus didn't get reborn with him?

He still thought he was in his former World, so the holy spear of longinus should naturally still be lying in a museum in China, or perhaps it had already been returned to its original place of collection.

Moreover, this Longinus Family didn't resemble any thousand-year-old aristocratic family from novels at all.

The entire family had dwindled to just Emil and his sister Kathleen. Their parents had passed away when they were very young, leaving almost no impression in Emil's own memory.

With their parents, the pillars of the family, gone, his sister had to support the family alone. Fortunately, relying on a sound social welfare system and an annual sum of money mysteriously delivered to their door, Kathleen had no problem supporting herself and her brother.

However, these two sums of money combined were only enough to fill their two stomachs. This could be seen from Emil's current family address: a cheap apartment building on 54th Street in Manhattan.

If that small place doesn't ring a bell, one might also consider its other name: the infamous Hell's Kitchen in New York.

Its official administrative name is Clinton, also commonly known as West Midtown, a district on the west bank of Manhattan Island in New York City, U.S. It is roughly a rectangular area bounded by 59th Street and 34th Street to the north and south, Eighth Avenue to the east, and the Hudson River to the west.

In its early years, Hell's Kitchen was a famous slum on Manhattan Island, primarily inhabited by working-class Irish immigrants. It was known for its chaotic and backward living conditions, severe ethnic conflicts, and high crime rate. Here, it was famous as a slum and for nurturing many Super-criminals and gang bosses.

When leaving Manhattan Hospital, Wu Di's complexion wasn't very good. For no other reason, no one likes to be gawked at like a chimpanzee in a zoo.

The not-so-small gossip about a patient, pronounced dead by a Doctor of Medicine, resurrecting from the morgue quickly spread throughout Manhattan Hospital. Everyone wanted to see this miracle boy.

Wu Di knew full well that if he hadn't been reborn in Emil's body, he, with his lower abdomen pierced by the holy spear of longinus, might have truly died.

However, there was no other way now, so he had no choice but to first play the role of Emil, the original Master of this body, and then see if there was a chance to return to China. Nevertheless, Wu Di also felt a bit of novelty; changing identities, and living in a foreign land abroad, might be a good experience.

After all, he was still young and hadn't realized that this had changed his destiny. Was he still Wu Di after being resurrected as Emil? He probably could never return to his old life.

However, the current Wu Di hadn't thought that far ahead. From now on, he was Emil Fred Longinus. It was a mouthful, but he was ready to survive with this identity. Well, from now on, there was temporarily no Wu Di in the World, only Emil.
