Chapter 3 - An Unexpected Encounter

After I had eaten it, I was about to head home. But as soon as I turned toward the house, I immediately heard loud sounds of battle coming from the main square.

At first, I was afraid to go there, but at that moment curiosity was stronger than fear. I decided to go and see what was happening.

Through the crowds of people, I made my way to the main square and saw city guards fighting the very same unknown person who had left the necklace on the table — the one that had fused with me the previous night.

There were so many questions that had accumulated over such a short time. Where did this necklace come from? Why did he leave it? And what was the mark that appeared after the fusion?

There were many questions, and not a single answer. After some thought, I decided to do something so that he would notice me and finally answer my questions.

The only thing that came to mind was to shout, hoping he would hear me.

What did you think? That I would rush into battle? No, I'm not an idiot — my skin is more valuable to me.

— Mister! — I shouted, hoping he would hear me. Of course, because of the battle, he didn't hear me the first time.

I didn't give up!

I watched their fight carefully, and after they exchanged a few more blows, they jumped back from each other and stared intently.

At that moment, I decided to shout a second time.

— Mister! — This time, he finally heard me.

And as soon as he noticed me, he immediately rushed toward me. When he got close, I realized this was no mister at all — it was actually a very beautiful miss! Hair blue like a clear sky. Eyes crimson like freshly spilled blood. By my standards, she was perfect. But as she approached me, she whispered into my ear:

— If you want to know the answers to your questions, come to Moonlight Peak. There you will find me, and I will answer all your questions.

Immediately after saying this, she disappeared into the crowd of people who had been watching. After that, I immediately passed out.

When I opened my eyes, I muttered through a splitting headache:

Ugh, how long have I been asleep? What happened?

My head is splitting!

Before I could fully recover, my mother hugged me tightly, and through tears she cried with relief:

— How worried I was!! You didn't wake up for a whole half hour!!

(I might not have mentioned it, but my mother is very impressionable.) She cried on, continuing to sob.

Even my usually unshakable father stood there with a worried expression.

But besides them, there were two people I didn't recognize.

From my parents' explanation, I understood that they were doctors from the "Immortal Healers' Society," who had come to examine me.

After examining me, they said:

— You are completely healthy. The reason why you fainted is not fully known to us. Most likely, the balance between Yin and Yang in your body was disrupted, and your body, in order to protect you, went into what you could call a kind of hibernation. If the balance had been severely disturbed, your dantian and meridians would have simply exploded, which would have led only to death. You could say you're lucky.

— I understand. But how long will it take me to recover? — I asked.

— About a month and a half. It all depends on how quickly you restore yourself. It might even be faster. The main thing is — don't strain yourself, and everything will be fine, — they replied.

After they left, I explained to my parents what had happened, and after some careful thought, my father asked me:

— So, what are you going to do next?

— I don't know. Most likely, I'll go to Moonlight Peak to find the answers, — I muttered, waiting for their reaction.

— Your father and I will fully support any decision you make. The main thing is to come back home safe and unharmed; everything else doesn't matter. We just learned that Moonlight Peak will hold a selection in two months, so until then, recover, — she added, smiling gently.
