"I need to go to the bathroom," she said.
"Is something wrong?"
"It's just nausea," she said.
"You've been feeling nauseous for quite a while, haven't you? You should go to the hospital."
My mother remained silent for a few seconds before saying, "Kyo, I think I'm pregnant."
Those words were like a bomb dropping on my head. I wasn't expecting to hear that today.
"Are you serious?"
"Yes, my period hasn't come... Ah, why am I even talking about this with you?" She sighed. "I'm feeling a little better."
She sat back down on the couch and let out another long sigh.
Then she smiled at me and said, "What is it? Are you surprised?"
"Of course! Do you think I expected to hear that first thing in the morning? Does Dad know about this?"

"Haven't you taken a test yet? You should've bought one or gone to the hospital. Do you want me to go buy one?"
