Outside the school, there were a lot of people. Not just fans—there were also many journalists. It was complete chaos! Even the police had been called to control the situation.

'Is that a cosplay?'

There were people cosplaying characters I had "created" right outside my school! This is completely absurd. I kept staring out the closed window in disbelief.

Daiki asked, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, but isn't this a bit too much?"

The windows were tinted, so no one could see me inside.

"Well, you're very famous." Daiki laughed. "What do you want to do? Do you want to leave? If we stay here too long, people will get suspicious. Journalists have very sharp instincts."

"Have you ever been through something like this before?"

"I've never worked for someone as famous as you, so no. But I've been trained on how to act in situations like this. The best thing to do is leave. If you step out of this car, all those journalists will swarm you, and we don't have security here to hold them back."

So I put on the mask and cap my mother gave me. I covered my hair completely—the only thing visible were my eyes. 'But they're such a bright shade of blue that they'll definitely attract attention…'

"Do you think this is enough?"

"Definitely not. Your eyes are the most striking part. You have the lightest eyes I've ever seen. Here, take this." Daiki took a pair of sunglasses from the glove compartment and handed them to me.

I put them on, and he said, "This hides your appearance pretty well, but you'll still attract a lot of attention."

"Yeah, that's true…"

I'm the only famous person who studies at this school. If someone shows up trying to hide their identity, what will people think? Of course they'll figure out it's me.

Well, whatever.

I smiled behind the mask and said,

"I'm getting out now. Thanks, Daiki."

Daiki had parked the car a bit away from the school. Along the street, there were many fans, and the journalists were mostly gathered near the school gate. Some school staff and police officers were "clearing" a path for the other students to enter.

As soon as I opened the car door, some nearby people looked at me. It was a group of awkward nerds.

They looked at me suspiciously, then went back to ignoring me.

I took a deep breath and gripped my bag tightly before starting to walk through the crowd of my fans.

"Hey, do you think the author will come to school today?"

"I don't know, maybe not. The school must have contacted him and warned him about what's happening here, right? Just look at how many people are around."

"If you don't think he'll come today, then why are you here?"

"Well… maybe he will… cough… cough…"

I overheard the conversation and laughed quietly behind my mask.

I kept walking with my head down, and no one bothered me.

Some people grew suspicious. I saw a few pointing at me.

Then, as I was getting close to the school gate, I heard a girl's voice.

"Hey, isn't that Kyo Evans?"

It was a voice I knew very well—Miu's.

"What!?" I looked at her. She was right beside me. Her hand was trembling, and she looked like she was about to faint. "I'm sure I saw him right there. Yes, that's him!" Miu ran in that direction, completely ignoring me.

Everyone around started looking for me.

The path cleared so I could move forward.

I started running.

Then—

"We've been fooled! There he is! With those glasses and cap!" someone shouted.

Suddenly, everyone focused their attention on me. But I had already passed the police and the school staff and made it inside the school.

"Author, please give us an interview!"

"I want an autograph!"

"I've been here since five in the morning, please take a picture with me!"

Many people with cameras started taking photos of me.

I ignored them and moved away from the entrance. Soon after, I saw Miu entering the school. She ran up to me and bent over with her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath.

"I think I'm going to faint," she said.

I smiled at her and placed my hand on her head.

"Thanks, Miu." I took off my sunglasses and lowered my mask. Our eyes met, and I smiled at her.

Miu's face flushed slightly.

"I just did what was necessary!"

After saying that, she turned away like a tsundere.

As soon as I entered the classroom, still wearing my cap, I took off my sunglasses and mask. I noticed that many people who had seen me in the hallways were following me and talking about me.

I did my best to ignore it.

As soon as I sat down at my desk, the entire classroom went silent.

They looked at me as if I were some kind of animal in a zoo.

"What is it? Just pretend I'm not here," I said.

Then they went back to acting like before. Well… almost all of them. Some classmates who had never had the courage to approach me before came up to talk about Overlord. They even asked for autographs.

I gave them autographs, of course.

Some of them even asked to take pictures with me. I took photos with them, and then more people came up to take pictures. This went on until the teacher entered the classroom.

"I know you're excited because of the recent news, but please calm down. Class is about to begin," she told my classmates. Then she looked toward the door.

Many students from other classes were there.

"And you—go back to your classrooms right now!"

The kids quickly scattered.

Huff~~

I let out a sigh, and the teacher walked over to me.

"Are you okay? The reporters outside didn't do anything to you, did they?"

"I managed to avoid them with the help of a friend." I smiled at her, and her face flushed slightly.

Urgh…

She stepped back and began the lesson.

I looked out the window and could see part of the outside of the school.

They were still there—both the reporters and my fans.

'They're not going to stay there until it's time for me to go home… are they?'
