Rafael's POV
"The DNA test?"
Fuck. How…
My mind immediately ran back to the day she came to see the kids when Nana and I weren't home.
I clenched my jaw, forcing my composure back into place as I picked up the paper on the table. One of the three samples showed a ninety-nine percent match with Roman Housley. No names. Just Sample A, B, and C.
Was she playing me?
"The straw samples I tested got mixed up," she said quickly. "That's why I don't know which one matched Roman's. So Rafael… please tell me. I came to you first because I didn't want to make an enemy out of you. You already ruined my life. I don't want to be your enemy." Her voice cracked. "I just… I just want to do the last thing I can for Raya. For her life. Please."
She looked desperate.
Once, she had been a woman full of pride. Full of lies too. But now her eyes were dull, her face pale, lips dry and cracked. She looked mentally unstable. Like someone who could do anything if it meant saving her daughter.
