Chapter 15 - Chapter 14: Battle Trial (PART 1)

.....

Aizawa walked along the halls as he was met with All Might's massive figure, seemingly in a good mood.

"A good batch of kids, wouldn't you say?"

Aizawa thought it was strange. All Might had never been the peeping type,

"You were watching?.."

All Might just laughed,

"Of course! They're my students too."

Aizawa wasn't convinced.

"Then you already know the class is a disaster."

All Might blinked.

"A disaster?"

"One kid broke his finger. Another tried to assault him."

He held up another finger.

"One refused the test."

Another.

"One is a bad day away from becoming a villain."

Another.

"And not to mention, he is at odds with like half the class, including his brother."

All Might rubbed his chin,

"So that's his brother, ahh."

Aizawa sighed deeply

"Yes, as you might've read, they don't have the best relationship."

All Might scratched the back of his head while he heard the spill from Genya, to actually get the real report on the incident. It was no wonder their relationship is so strained.

"Of course, besides such sorrowful circumstances, I can see you haven't expelled any students this time aroun-"

Aizawa cut in,

"It wasn't my idea, Nezu's orders. Last year, I got major flak for doing such and ending dreams before they even develop."

All Might hardened his gaze,

"Yes, they weren't the most promising bunch of students, but to expel an entire class of future heroes off a whim was ridiculous."

Aizawa remembered how he used to feel about young heroes dying in action simply because of being at the wrong place at the wrong time, yet he wasn't a promising hero either, yet he made a difference in the world, so if he was being real....

"Yeah, I was stuck in my feelings. Nedzu was right, I should have given ' em a chance."

Aizawa stopped for a moment, switching the subject.

"Anyways, most of these kids seem to have potential."

All Might nodded vigorously

"This batch has surely been promising so far, also a bit..."

Aizawa, putting his eye drops in, commented,

"chaotic?"

A mumbled "yes" came from All Might as Aizawa continued.

"Tomorrow's going to be a pain..."

All Might just sighed, if he was honest, this pack of students was just filled with drama, but All Might had a plan, of course,

"Well... Tomorrow we could reignite friendship and kinship among fellow students, even some of the more bitter ones."

Aizawa began walking off, as All Might turned into small might with a slight hurl.

"Sounds wonderful. I won't be there to help anyway. I've got a pretty packed schedule, so I can only assist with setup, but for the battles.... That's all you."

All might chuckled. Aizawa was still an underground hero, his schedule was actually much tighter than his at the moment, yet he still had one question.

"Those kids, Izuku Midoriya, Genya, and his brother, what do you think of them?"

Aizawa stopped as he gave it some thought.

"Genya seems to have a good grasp on his quirk, and judging by what I've seen, he's able to push his fears aside even when he is unstable, unlike that Bakugo kid."

Aizawa turned away,

"And Izuku?"

"That kid of yours has a long way to go, but once he does, he will be a force to be reckoned with, just needs a lot more control and a real teacher..."

All Might offered a faint smile,

'Of course, he knows he has my quirk, the kid doesn't really hide it.'

"And Sanemi?"

All Might asked.

Aizawa stopped.

For the first time, all conversation.

Actually stopped.

"..."

All Might noticed immediately.

"What?"

Aizawa rubbed his eyes.

"Nothing."

"That wasn't convincing."

Aizawa sighed.

"That kid worries me."

"Because of his past?"

Aizawa looked toward the window.

"Because he doesn't care about being a hero."

He thought for a moment before speaking once more.

"Because he's exactly the kind of person who could become a great hero."

A pause.

"Or a terrifying villain."

----------

Sanemi woke up to the sound of construction.

Again.

A hammer rang out somewhere beyond the shoreline as workers continued rebuilding sections of U.A. damaged months ago. The academy never seemed to stop changing. Walls went up. Walls came down. Buildings appeared where there weren't any before.

Annoying.

Rolling out of bed, he stared blankly at the ceiling for a moment before forcing himself upright.

'Day two, huh'

Not that it felt any different.

Kushina was already awake, legs hanging off the couch while scrolling through her phone.

"You look thrilled."

Sanemi buckled his pants,

"I am."

The sarcasm was completely ignored.

"Second day of hero school. Big moment, you know."

Sanemi grunted as he pulled on his uniform.

A few seconds passed. Then another. Kushina finally looked up.

"...And of course you forgot your tie."

Sanemi looked down.

Sure enough.

"Tch."

Kushina knelt a little, fixing his tie, she suggested.

"Maybe try making friends today."

"No."

"Acquaintances?"

"No."

"People you don't actively dislike?"

Sanemi thought about it.

"...Maybe."

Kushina smiled softly,

"Progress."

Sanemi waved goodbye before stepping outside.

The walk wasn't long, unfortunately.

Students flooded every pathway leading toward the main building. Conversations overlapped endlessly.

Hero rankings.

Quirks, Sports, Internships, Pro heroes, Dreams, Goals, and Future agencies.

The noise blended together into one giant headache. Everywhere he looked were students chasing something.

Recognition, Success, and Purpose.

Sanemi didn't understand any of it.

Most of them acted as if they had already become heroes. They hadn't done a damn thing yet.

Passing through the halls, several first years moved out of his path instinctively.

Others stared, a few whispered. Yet by now he was used to it.

Scars tended to do that.

-

By the time he reached Class 1-A, the noise had already exhausted him. Yet the commotion from the other side of this door made one thing apparent, the class was "Active" to say the least.

Groaning, Sanemi contemplated,

'It's too damn early for this shit.'

Inside, the classroom was nothing short of chaotic.

Denki practically stood on top of his desk.

"I'm telling you, it's gotta be Mount Lady! Hero Basics is like... THE class."

Mina immediately shook her head.

"No way! It's definitely Midnight."

Togaru tapped the peak of his maw,

"Present Mic, perhaps."

Denki just looked dumbfounded,

"Dude, we just saw him teach a separate class."

A muffled "right, right" came from Togaru as Genya spoke.

"Endeavor?"

Quickly, the temperature dropped as Todaroki spoke,

"Never..."

Bakugo cackled as he joined the conversation, clearly not for the right reason.

"Seems like the little ice boy is mad. What, Endeavor didn't coddle you enough?"

Grinning madly, Bakugo revelling, finally one-upping the arrogant brat, ironic, he knows.

Tokoyami just set a hand on Todoroki's shoulder as more guesses flew around the room, one after another.

Every student seemed to have their own dream instructor.

Momo quietly folded a notebook shut.

"Realistically speaking, it should be whichever Pro Hero specializes in practical education."

Ochaco tilted her head.

"...Is there someone who specializes in teaching?"

Momo paused.

"... I suppose we will just be left in suspense until then."

Midoriya, meanwhile, had already filled half a notebook.

'Hero Basics... combat application... rescue simulations... teamwork...'

His pencil stopped.

'Could it really be...'

His eyes practically sparkled tapping Genya's back, he whispered.

"I think... It's going to be All Might...?"

Genya's eyes widened,

'How hadn't he thought of that before?'

Sanemi rotated the door handle as time seemed to slow to a hush, thoughts racing again.

To him, it all sounded exactly the same.

Heroes. Heroes. Heroes.

It was as if the entire concept of life and death revolved around nothing else.

'They're excited over a teacher... Ridiculous.'

Then...

He slid the classroom door open.

Several students immediately looked up.

"..."

"..."

"Oh."

A few shoulders visibly dropped. Mina had crumpled in disappointment, and Ochako was too stoopidfied to react.

"It was just Sanemi."

Jiro scratched the back of her head.

"I thought that was the teacher."

A couple of students laughed.

Denki and Togaru greeted Sanemi as everyone was a little abashed at how excited they were just for this, but a few beats later...

The door swung open as golden rays of light peered through, and a figure was seen posed strangely,

A massive shadow stretched across the room before the familiar grin appeared.

"... I AM HERE!"

The Golden light now showered over everyone's figure, cape billowing dramatically despite there being absolutely no wind. His smile looked almost unreal.

"... COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!"

For half the class... Time stopped.

"ALL MIGHT?!"

The classroom exploded. Chairs scraped across the floor as several students shot to their feet.

Midoriya's notebook slipped from his hands.

"No way..."

Ochaco's eyes sparkled.

"It's really him!"

Even Kirishima looked ready to burst.

"THAT'S SO MANLY!"

Denki grabbed Togaru by both shoulders, violently shaking him.

"I TOLD YOU IT'D BE SOMEONE AWESOME!"

"...You guessed Mount Lady."

"...THAT'S NOT THE POINT!"

Even students who had remained composed yesterday couldn't hide their excitement.

This wasn't simply Japan's Number One Hero. This was the Symbol of Peace. The man who had inspired an entire generation.

Sanemi watched everyone lose their minds.

People stood. People cheered. People whispered to one another like they were witnessing some divine revelation.

He just... Didn't get it.

'...They're acting as if he descended from the heavens.'

But as this moment dawned on him, he remembered a man, he was creepy and, to be honest, far too creepy for someone like him to have been hanging around him, but he had such a twisted view of the world...

He believed there was not a single good hero as heroic as All Might, he respected All Might to such a point that he ignored the ones that can't be like All Might, that can't be "pure",

'Talking about "pure" yet kills heroes because they don't fit his little image'

Ironic.

'What if he tries to kill.....'

Before he goes on, he feels a tap on his shoulder, as Togaru points, unknowingly helping him crawl out of his thoughts.

"Yeah, yea, I see him."

All Might, seeing the kids excited yelps, he laughed heartily.

"HAHAHAHA! Such youthful enthusiasm!"

His smile widened as he looked across the classroom.

"Good morning, young heroes!"

Every student instinctively straightened.

"From today onward, I shall be teaching your Hero Basics course!"

Another wave of excitement swept through the room.

"The purpose of this class is simple."

He raised a finger dramatically.

"Experience! A hero cannot protect others through classroom lectures alone."

He nodded to himself as he lifted a finger.

"They must act, they must adapt, and above all..."

He paused, posing dramatically,

"THEY MUST OVERCOME!"

The kids nodded feriously as All Might continued,

"Today's first hero's basic class will be..."

A slight pause for dramatic effect,

"COMBAT TRAINING"

Bakugo pumped his fist, 'Finally'

Midoriya did not share the same sentiment,

With that, All Might reached beneath the podium. With one enormous motion...

He dropped several large containers onto the teacher's desk.

THUD.

The entire classroom leaned forward.

"I asked every one of you to submit costume requests before enrollment."

He placed both hands on the containers.

"And today..."

A grin stretched across his face.

"You'll finally wear the costumes that represent the heroes you wish to become!"

For a split second. Silence... Then

"WHAT?!"

All Might chuckled as he finished

"Yes, these were made to accommodate each of y'all's quirks perfectly. Now, with that out of the way, meet me at ground beta."

With a 'hai,' he vanished just as miraculously as he came in.

The room buzzed with movement as everyone hurried to get their own custom made costumes.

A mild groan could be heard as Sanemi was just trying to get his bag, yet these kids rushed to see their flashy new costumes,

Luckily, he was able to get out of their relatively quick....

Midoriya stared at the containers like they contained buried treasure.

"...They're already finished..."

After years of sketching hero costumes...

He was finally going to wear one. He looked over to Genya, who was just as shocked as him.

"Wow,"

Was all Genya said before turning to Izuku, a smile plastered on his face

"You ready izuku, This means we are really in it. We did it."

Izuku was ready, he knew Genya would, so he would too. He would show All Might why he's worthy, he'll prove Bakugo wrong.

"Yeah, I'm.... I'm ready,"

They fist bump, Heading to the changing booth.

---

Sanemi could understand why Aizawa is the way he is

'This hero stuff is all bullshit.'

When he stepped into the locker area, the first thing he noticed was how quickly the room went from chatter to staring.

Not silence.

People were looking at each other's costumes, sure, but some of them kept glancing toward the larger question sitting in the air, what the hell had U.A. made for them?

Mina was one of the first to come out, practically spinning in her boots as she inspected herself.

"Ooh, this is actually so cute! They really brought these to life!"

Denki followed after her, coming out grinning from ear to ear. flexing his arms.

"Okay, yeah, this is goodgood."

"Are you trying to show us something with those arms?"

Jiro said, but Denki appeared offended, hand on his chest

"Wow. How insensitive."

"Accurate,"

Togaru said, walking past him without looking.

Stepping out, the room quieted just a little.

His costume fit him like a figurine and a threat at the same time. The overcoat made of tattered lines of transformative mesh to avoid tearing made him look even bigger than before, and the few students who had already seen him in action seemed to react like they had forgotten he was still technically a teenager.

Kirishima stared for a second before grinning wide.

"That's manly as hell."

Togaru pointed at him immediately.

"Correct. Such fine craftsmanship shalt not be unnoticed."

Mina stared.

"…That's unique, that's for sure."

Denki nodded once. Now, reanalyzing his own biceps.

"How come I don't look like that?"

Ochaco laughed lightly at that, though her eyes drifted over the rest of the room as more of the class came out.

Momo looked the exact opposite of her normally composed image,

Tokoyami appeared almost more dramatic than usual perhaps he might be related to Togaru.

Tsuyu's costume looked practical enough to make sense at a glance, which seemed to suit her.

Bakugo, of course, looked like he had been designed specifically to look angry in public, you would be shocked he likes All Might more than Endeavor.

Genya stepped out next. He wore a dark olive-green uniform, a sleeveless purple yukata, and white jika-tabi boots

Midoriya questioned the purpose of such an outfit, but he would admit his was no better,

"What made you want to choose...."

He gestured to his outfit. Genya himself didn't know just kinda came to his mind.

"Well, I didn't want anything too fancy, and it sorta just happened. I don't know..."

Izuku offered a look as he said, "Right...."

Sanemi stepped out last.

Dark green-tinted uniform with an unbuttoned jacket, a white undershirt, and a matching white haori, honestly,

everyone noticed how similar the style was to Genya

Sanemi just stared back.

'What are they looking at?'

Lucky for him, Aizawa led them out of the changing area and toward Ground Beta without another wasted second. The students followed in a steady stream, some still talking, some already mentally preparing, and some simply trying not to look nervous.

---

Ground Beta was waiting for them like a miniature battlefield.

The mock city stretched out beneath the open sky, broken streets and buildings made for tactical movement, cover, ambushes, and destruction. It looked less like a training zone and more like the kind of place villains should already be battling in.

A few students visibly brightened.

All Might stood at the center of the space, once again far too dramatic for someone with that much muscle.

"Welcome to your first Combat Trial!"

The class snapped to attention.

He pointed one thumb at himself with an absurdly proud grin.

"Today, you will be practicing a very important aspect of hero work."

His grin widened.

"TEAMWORK!"

A beat.

"Heroes do not work alone."

Another beat.

"They must cooperate, think, trust, and adapt!"

Several students nodded.

Sanemi did not.

All Might reached into the box beside him and lifted the first sheet.

"The exercise is simple. Hero Team and Villain Team."

A low murmur spread through the class.

"The villain team will have to protect the bomb as well as hide the bomb from the heroes or capture the heroes to win the exercise."

He held up a prop with enough dramatic flair to make it look like a cursed artifact.

"The hero team must enter the building and either capture the bomb or detain the villains in the given time limit to win the exercise."

The room went still.

"All battles are timed at 10 minutes. The winners will be decided by strategy, coordination, and results."

His smile grew even larger.

"So let us begin!"

All Might's voice boomed again.

"FIRST MATCH!"

The class straightened.

"Hero Team... Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka!"

Izuku jolted.

"Oh, me and..."

His heart was beating out of his chest,

Ochaco looked startled for half a second before smiling nervously.

"You, okay?"

Izuku could only stiffle a "Hai"

Izuku looked like he was trying to hold his soul together with tape.

All Might continued.

"Villain Team... Katsuki Bakugo and Tenya Iida!"

Bakugo grinned immediately.

"There it is."

Iida adjusted his glasses with militant seriousness.

"I will perform the role of villain with proper dignity and honor."

Bakugo stared at Midoriya, grin growing feral.

"… You heard that, Deku? No one will be there to save you this time."

Genya went to get in the way of Izuku, but in an odd scene, Izuku stepped forward, fire in his eyes.

"I'm ready."

Bakugo looked Shook slightly but just offered a scoff, muttering 'damn nerd'

All Might cleared his throat, reconsidering his "plan" he had for class bonding.

"SECOND MATCH!"

"Hero Team... Shoto Todoroki and Mezo Shoji!"

Shoji gave a quiet nod.

Todoroki looked only mildly interested.

"Villain Team... Mashirao Ojiro and Toru Hagakure!"

Ojiro bowed politely.

"I'll do my best."

A voice from nowhere giggled.

"I'm right here!"

"Oh, right."

Ojiro scratched the back of his head, slightly abashed.

All Might raised the sheet again.

"THIRD MATCH!"

"Hero Team... Fumikage Tokoyami and Tsuyu Asui!"

Tokoyami folded his arms.

"A fitting pairing."

Tsuyu nodded once.

"Ribbit."

"Villain Team... Yuga Aoyama and Eijiro Kirishima!"

Kirishima froze.

"…Wait, I am with him?"

Aoyama struck a pose immediately.

"Ah, a battle of light and style. How exquisite."

Kirishima put a hand over his face.

"This is so NOT manly."

Aoyama looked personally offended.

"Is this... Slander."

All Might kept going.

"FORTH MATCH!"

"Hero Team... Kyoka Jiro and Denki Kaminari!"

Kaminari slammed both fists together.

"LET'S GO!"

Jiro gave a tired sigh.

"Try not to blow my eardrums out."

"Villain Team... Momo Yaoyorozu and Togaru Kamakiri!"

Momo blinked once.

Togaru pointed at Kaminari with immediate interest.

"Let's make fireworks out there, brother."

Denki held his hand out.

"Ey, this time give it your, for real this time!"

Togaru smirked, dapping up Denki,

"I got you, bro."

Then All Might reached for the final card.

The room settled again. This one mattered, and not because the others didn't.

Because the last one always felt heavier.

"FINAL MATCH!"

He unfolded the card.

"Hero Team... Genya Shinazugawa and Mina Ashido!"

Mina pumped both fists instantly.

"Alright! Let's go!"

Genya blinked once.

Then nodded.

"Yeah."

If he was the last one, then that would only mean his opponent is... Just the thought caused his leg to shake.

All Might lowered the last card. Rethinking every decision he made leading to this point.

"Villain Team... Sanemi Shinazugawa and Koji Koda!"

The room stopped.

Sanemi stared at the card.

Then at All Might.

Then at Genya.

Then back at the card.

Koji made a small, uncertain sound beside him and practically shrank in place.

Mina's smile had already gone stiff.

Genya didn't move.

He just looked at the lineup like his brain had short-circuited.

Sanemi's fist slowly tightened.

A vein twitched at his temple.

The air around him felt suddenly colder.

"..."

He stared a second longer.

Then his face darkened, veins bulging out of his skull.

"WHAT THE FUCK!....."

----------------------

Next chapter coming out quick its already almost done so we'll see the result of some of these matches

So in the show i mention it before but they jump around alot in the show which i found so odd and while it worked for the show it just never flowed well when writting it similar so i changed many things around also i kinda announced all the fight pairing first as it was kinda more of a plan all might made to get the class dynamics normal, so he devised a plan, not a smart one. Also the show like legit skips over Aizawa kicking all the last year students like that was normal, that shii was not normal.
