Chapter 15 - Diary

Barry held in his hands the very list of important events that would happen to them in this world. Now the boy crossed out the item about the secret room. This list really helped him remember the canonical events he had observed while reading books in his own world. Although this world was not entirely canon, all the important events happened one way or another.

The Gryffindor Quidditch team was going to practice on the field when they saw the Slytherin team already there. Oliver Wood, the captain of the Gryffindor team, began to protest, because it was their turn to practice. But Marcus Flint, the Slytherin captain, took out a written confirmation from their dean that they could start training to prepare a new Seeker.

"Harry" wasn't very surprised when he saw Malfoy stepping forward. He just laughed nervously, then noticed his friends, Ron and Hermione, approaching him.

"Is that a Nimbus 2001?" Weasley asked in surprise. "The latest broomsticks this year!

"As you can see, Weasley," Malfoy smiled. "My father can buy much better.

"But no one in Gryffindor bought their place!" Hermione protested.

"No one asked for your opinion, you filthy mudblood!" Draco snapped back.

"What an idiot you are!" shrugged "Harry," noticing how Ron blushed with anger, but did nothing instead, forcing him to point his wand at Malfoy himself. "Eat slugs!"

Draco flew a couple of metres away, landing on the ground with a dissatisfied grimace. The Slytherins ran after him, while the Gryffindors burst into laughter, including Hermione, who needed only one glance to understand that she was grateful.

"You'll pay for this, Potter! My o-o-o-o," Draco didn't have time to finish before spitting out a couple more slugs.

In response, "Harry" just gave him the middle finger and winked.

"That's right, you idiot!" Ron smiled.

But the training was not meant to begin — McGonagall was walking quickly towards them, and it was clear from her expression that she was very angry.

Harry Potter spent the next two hours as punishment with Gilderoy Lockhart, helping him sign the endless stream of cards sent to him by his fans.

 "Harry!

The boy noticed Caitlin Snow running towards him, holding a small book in her hands.

"Hi!" the girl smiled at him. "I found out something I want to share with you.

She handed Harry the book. The title was "The Hogwarts Archives."

"Where did you get that?" the boy asked in surprise.

"From the restricted section," whispered the girl, then put her finger to her lips. "Anyway, I found out that the secret room was actually opened some time ago, fifty years ago... Why am I telling you this? Because I was studying during that period..."

"Voldemort?" Harry asked, but Caitlin gently covered his mouth with her hand.

"Not in front of everyone!" she hissed discontentedly."Yes, that's exactly who he was. Tom Riddle, to be precise.

This was really important information. Barry already knew that sooner or later he would have to face all the things that had happened to Harry Potter, but part of him hoped that this would pass him by. In any case, Riddle's ghost would kidnap Ginny Weasley... The diary! Now he remembered. He had to find the diary urgently.

Harry immediately told his friends about Caitlin's discoveries. Hermione immediately informed the others that there was a ghost in the locked bathroom — Moaning Myrtle, the girl who died after the room was opened.

But maybe it was still too early? After all, there had been no deaths yet... Nevertheless, Barry decided that he had to find the diary as soon as possible. There was no point in going to Ginny anymore; she had probably gotten rid of it. That's why he decided to go to that very same locked girls' bathroom. For the second year in a row, his adventures were connected with it.

As he ran there, "Harry" noticed that there was a lot of water on the floor, and it was the trail that had led him to this bathroom. A quiet roar could be heard inside, then a ghost flew out of the stall.

"What? Did you come here to throw something else at me?" said the girl, wiping away her tears.

"Um, no," Harry shrugged. "I just wanted to ask... Have you seen a black notebook by any chance?"

"A black notebook?" Myrtle asked. "Wait a minute..."

She flew back into the cubicle, then flew out again and pointed. Harry slowly approached, peering inside. There was indeed a diary lying next to the toilet. He quickly picked it up, brushing the water off it.

"What do you want with it?" the ghost flew a little closer.

"Just because," he said. "I need to find something out. Thanks."

He ran out of the toilet, followed by the ghostly girl's pensive gaze.

Barry leafed through the diary; the pages were completely blank. If they weren't yellowed, one might think it was a brand new diary, as if it had just been bought. The boy decided to experiment, took out a pen and began to write.

"Hello, my name is Harry Potter," he wrote.

Then the ink began to disappear, and a new inscription appeared, written in a different hand. "Hello, my name is Tom Riddle," it read.

At that moment, Barry remembered that Harry Potter had seen Tom Riddle's memories, in which Hagrid and his spider Aragog were supposedly responsible for the death of that girl. But Barry already understood everything perfectly well.
