Amethyst skimmed through the list and settled on the authority's section.
He was the only god able to hold four authority, making him the strongest, but it seems Emptiness had erased it away.
It was that label— the strongest that got him into this mess. He was formally the White Angel.
The strongest Angel, that title changed him, vanity and arrogance set in. He reasoned that strength was the only safeguard.
Forgetting that it was through schemes that he managed to murder Celestial. And scheme also led to his downfall.
He learnt his lesson too late.
Amethyst sighed, pulling himself out of his whimsical thoughts. He decided to stop whining.
His body began to change, turning ethereal and almost transparent as he started to merge with the drifting moonlight. It was a smooth, ghostly process.
But then, his body paused, half-transparent, and the merging process slowly reversed. A broad smile spread across Amethyst's face.
He brought his right hand up to his hat, pressing it down firmly, leaving his golden irises peeping out from underneath the hat.
A crooked, excited grin appeared on his lips.
"Hmmm, just what I needed, a punching bag". He said aloud.
At his words, the previously calm ocean water began to churn violently. Massive tentacles, as thick as and as long as a three-story building, burst out of the waves. It brought with it a baleful aura— a strong, evil feeling that filled the air.
Then, the creature's huge head broke out of the water. It was an immense, grotesque sight.
'It look like an octopus'. Amethyst mused, it looked like the animal octopus from his previous life, except that this was disgusting and revolting. Extremely so.
Its most striking feature was its vast maw, a gigantic mouth filled with rows of sharp, unseen teeth and pitch blackness. This creature was a Series 3 entity of the Evil Legacy— a powerful and malevolent being.
As its head emerged, its mouth opened wide, and it began to spit out incredibly foul words. These words were so vile, so utterly repulsive, that reality itself could not bear them.
They were muted, silenced by the world, turning into an unbearable silence.
Yet, Amethyst didn't need to hear them. He felt the foul words rushing towards him, a torrent of pure, disgusting negativity aimed directly at his mind and spirit.
The immense, hostile words rushed toward Amethyst. Inside, a quick struggle occurred: the Sam part of him screamed to dodge the vile assault, but the godly part scorned such cowardice.
Amethyst instantly crushed the inner debate, choosing to defend himself by attacking. With a thought, he launched his power.
But nothing happened.
Frowning, he submerged into the moonlight and instantly reappeared kilometers away.
The spot he had just left was suddenly dyed grey, and from the thin air, horrible screams of pain rang out.
'What's happening?'. Amethyst realized that when he tried to attack moments ago, his divine powers couldn't break through the haze of Emptiness surrounding him.
This "haze" was a double-edged sword. While it helped disguise his true godly aura, which was the reason why the Series 3 creature couldn't sense him and just attacked blindly.
It also blocked his offensive powers. Now, other than teleporting instantly by merging with light, he couldn't use any of his abilities.
Before he could process this, the evil creature swarmed toward him and unleashed yet another attack— another torrent of the muted, psychic foulness.
Amethyst already had an idea to fight this sudden handicap. He channeled his core identity and uttered a single word:
"Judgment".
The invisible attack that was speeding toward him suddenly reversed. The psychic torrent turned back and slammed into the monstrous creature instead.
The massive creature instantly let out a maddening, deafening scream.
The scream wasn't just loud; it sounded like pure insanity and agony. The force of its own vile attack, turned against it, made the creature's massive head snap back.
It's tentacles convulsed violently, thrashing against the waves, and where the invisible attack hit, the creature's flesh turned grey and begun to bubble and wither, it was instantly poisoned by its own evil.
Amethyst smiled, a wide, confident grin. "It worked".
"Judgment" was not a physical attack; it was one of his authority as a god.
He had just judged that he was the evil creature and the evil creature was him. By doing this, he made his opponent the target of its own attack.
Judgment works like this: Anything the user thinks is right, becomes right— as long as that thing was under light.
For example:
He could judge that the creature's immense size is a weakness, causing it to suddenly become too heavy to move, sinking into the ocean.
He could judge that the moonlight was a poison to the creature, and therefore, any light that touches the creature turns divine poison.
He could judge that the creature's powerful body is secretly fragile, making the next physical strike utterly devastating.
This....
This was....
"This is the power of a god". Amethyst bellowed out, a large grin splattered across his divine face.
