Chapter 146 - Chapter 146

Inside the cavernous, dark power plant, the low hum grew louder, vibrating through the heroes' feet. Sparks danced along exposed wires, and the air crackled with static. The smell of ozone was thick.

"This is not good," Jubilee whispered, her voice barely audible over the rising energy.

Piotr, already in his steel form, took a defensive stance. He could feel the raw power in the air, a physical pressure against his metal skin.

Suddenly, a majestic, jagged-winged figure descended from the high ceiling, its yellow feathers glowing with raw power. Its fierce eyes darted around, assessing its unexpected audience.

"By the stars... what is that?" Kamala breathed, her eyes wide with awe.

The creature was drawing energy from the plant's core, its body a conduit for the surging electricity.

Doreen, ever the quick thinker, pulled out her Pokédex. She held it up, aiming its sensor at the glowing bird.

"Scanning... Electric/Flying-type, Zapdos!" the device announced.

[POKEDEX ENTRY: ZAPDOS]

[SPECIES: ELECTRIC POKÉMON]

[TYPE: ELECTRIC / FLYING]

[DESCRIPTION: A LEGENDARY BIRD POKÉMON SAID TO APPEAR FROM WITHIN STORM CLOUDS. IT GAINS POWER WHEN STRUCK BY LIGHTNING AND CAN UNLEASH THUNDERBOLTS STRONG ENOUGH TO SPLIT THE SKY.]

"Oh, this is way more intense than I thought," Kamala murmured, stepping back.

Doreen clutched her Pokédex. She knew this was a powerful one, not some ordinary Pokémon.

"We should probably not upset it," Piotr stated, his steel form radiating caution. He felt a deep respect for the power this creature wielded.

Zapdos glared at the group, its eyes burning with electrical energy. It was a force of nature, untamed and majestic.

CRACKLE!

Bobby felt a shiver of cold, despite the electric warmth in the air. He wasn't scared, exactly, but a Legendary Pokémon was definitely a different level of frosty.

Kurt's eyes widened, his tail giving a soft twitch. He recognized the name Zapdos from Orion's videos. This was no ordinary Pokémon.

Rogue, however, saw something more. She sensed a deep, wild energy in the Zapdos, a force of nature that was both magnificent and dangerous. Her instincts told her this wasn't a fight they wanted.

Kamala and Doreen stepped forward, hands raised in a calming gesture.

"Hey, easy there, big bird! We don't mean any harm!" Kamala called out.

Eevee wagged its tail, trying a gentle Tail Whip towards Zapdos, a friendly invitation.

"Just being friendly!" Doreen added, her voice cheerful.

Emolga zipped around Zapdos, attempting a friendly Nuzzle in the air.

Zapdos let out a sharp cry, its feathers crackling. It unleashed a powerful Thundershock, a jagged bolt of yellow energy that split the air.

The attack narrowly missed Kamala and Doreen, leaving scorched marks and sparking craters on the metal floor where they had just stood.

"Okay, so much for friendly!" Bobby yelled, a wall of ice forming to deflect a stray bolt of lightning aimed at him. He needed to get a handle on this situation.

The X-Men scattered. Piotr, already in his steel form, moved to shield Jubilee and Bobby. A lightning bolt struck his metallic form, making the air crackle with power.

"Get down!" Piotr boomed, his deep voice carrying over the crackling electricity.

Rogue pushed a heavy, fallen pipe, creating a makeshift barrier.

"Everyone behind me, now!" Rogue yelled, her voice firm, as she planted her feet, ready for more.

Kurt moved with his usual grace. BAMF! He teleported Kitty and Espurr a safe distance away, then reappeared to guide Kamala and Doreen towards the pipe.

CRASH!

A wall section crumbled, showering debris. Kitty phased through it, the solid matter passing through her as easily as air.

"This isn't a fight we can win," Kitty stated, her voice tight, the sheer power of Zapdos making her realize their vulnerability. "We need to get out!"

Zapdos let out another piercing cry, its wings beating, sending electrical currents through the ground. The air filled with the smell of burnt metal and ozone. It wanted them gone.

Piotr, a metal monument, took another direct blast. The energy coursed over his body, making his metal skin glow a brighter orange. He gritted his teeth, absorbing the impact, a shield for his teammates.

"Distract it! Give us an opening!" Piotr bellowed, his voice straining against the powerful electrical discharge.

Kamala nodded, her mind racing. She needed a plan, something big and stretchy.

"Eevee, use Sand Attack!" Kamala commanded, pointing towards Zapdos.

Eevee dashed forward, kicking up a cloud of dust and debris from the factory floor. The gritty mix flew towards Zapdos, aiming for its eyes.

Doreen whistled, and Tippy-Toe chittered, signaling her squirrel army. A horde of squirrels streamed from the shadows, launching acorns at Zapdos.

"Emolga, Nuzzle!" Doreen shouted, hoping the small Pokémon's static touch could do something.

Emolga zipped through the air, a tiny, buzzing missile. It tried to make contact with Zapdos's wing, hoping to deliver a paralyzing shock.

Zapdos shrieked, annoyed by the distractions. The Sand Attack barely registered, but the flurry of acorns and Emolga's persistent buzzing managed to break its concentration.

A wing slammed down, creating a gust of electrical wind that sent Eevee tumbling and knocked Emolga away. The little squirrel Pokémon hit a metal beam with a thud, sparks flying off its tiny body.

"Emolga!" Doreen cried, her earlier optimism fading as she saw her partner struggle. This wasn wasn't a game.

Kamala saw Emolga fall, her own resolve hardening. She had to protect her friends.

Rogue saw the opening. "Kurt, now!" she yelled, her voice cutting through the din.

BAMF! Kurt appeared beside the injured Emolga, grabbing it with his tail. He teleported it to safety behind Piotr's massive frame.

"We are leaving," Kurt said, his eyes on Zapdos, the legendary bird already preparing its next attack. He knew they couldn't stay.

"To me! Quickly, everyone!" Kurt shouted, his voice strained. A series of BAMF sounds filled the air as he ferried each person out of the collapsing plant.

The ground outside was cold and damp. Everyone coughed, singed and bruised, but miraculously alive. Zapdos's enraged cry echoed from the ruins behind them, the air still crackling with raw electricity.

"That was... not fun," Jubilee said, brushing soot from her bright jacket. Her hair smoked slightly.

Kamala checked Eevee, who whimpered, its fur a little frazzled. Doreen hugged a dazed Emolga.

"We got out," Piotr rumbled, his metal skin dull from the strain. He felt the pain from the repeated electrical impacts.

Bobby transformed back to human, shivering. He just wanted to be somewhere warm, away from that much untamed power.

"Zapdos is powerful," Rogue stated, her voice quiet. She felt the lingering echoes of its rage, a primal force.

Kitty sat beside Espurr, its wide eyes still fixed on the damaged plant, sensing the chaotic energy. They had escaped, but the memory of that legendary power remained.
