Chapter 12 - A Second Chance

His family had gone through great trouble and pulled a lot of strings just to get him into Qibao Dwith School. Their goal was simple, they wanted him to build connections with the sons of those powerful and wealthy families. But now… it seemed like he had completely ruined that chance. The thought filled Lin Yutong with despair.

Then he suddenly noticed Rong Xingyu standing opposite him. A spark of hope lit up in his dull defeated eyes and he quickly stepped forward, trying to grab Rong Xingyu's hand.

But Rong Xingyu took a small step back, easily avoiding him. Lin Yutong didn't give up, though. His eyes were full of pleading and desperation as he said, "Rong Xingyu, I know I was wrong. I really lost my temper just now. I'm sorry, I'm really sorry. Please forgive me, okay?"

When Rong Xingyu didn't respond, Lin Yutong hurried to add, "I wasn't bullying you! And look, you didn't even get hit by the milk tea! I know I was wrong, just forgive me, please!"

Rong Xingyu stayed silent.

He knew very well that if he had been even a second slower, that boiling milk tea would've hit his face. The result would have been ugly.

And besides, he wasn't some saint who could always stand there and forgive others no matter what they did. That kind of thing was what the real main character, Rong Zhihao would do in the novel and not him.

So Rong Xingyu just bit his lip and said nothing.

"I really know I was wrong," Lin Yutong continued, his voice trembling. "I don't want to be expelled. I can't get kicked out. Please, Rong Xingyu… I'm begging you…"

His eyes were lifeless as he kept repeating the same words over and over again: "I can't get expelled."

Rong Xingyu glanced toward the principal with hesitation for a moment, and then he softly asked, "...Is he really going to be expelled?"

The principal's expression finally eased a little when he looked at Rong Xingyu. His voice became much gentler. "You're not hurt, are you, young man?"

Rong Xingyu shook his head.

Something about his face looked familiar to the principal. After a moment, he suddenly remembered, wasn't this the same boy he had seen sleeping in the garden before? Back then, Chairman Ding had told him to take care of his own business first, so he'd left. Could this boy actually be a member of Chairman Ding's family?

With that thought in mind, the principal smiled kindly. "Would you be willing to give him another chance?"

Technically speaking, according to school rules, Lin Yutong's behavior wasn't serious enough to be expelled.

Rong Xingyu thought for a moment and nodded. "That's fine."

After all, the chance to study especially at a top school like Qibao Dwith School was too valuable to waste. There were other ways to punish someone besides expulsion.
