Ruby's POV
I froze when I spotted him. Elias sat behind the wheel of his sleek black sedan, engine idling. He had been waiting. For two entire hours.
My feet moved toward him instinctively, but Justin's grip tightened around my arm, yanking me back.
"Well, well. Look who showed up." Justin's voice dripped with mock sympathy as he addressed Elias. "Afraid your girl got a little tied up tonight. She spent some quality time with me instead."
The temperature seemed to drop ten degrees. Elias's jaw clenched, his knuckles white against the steering wheel.
"That's not what happened!" The words tumbled out of me. "I was only trying to secure the contract—"
"Oh, she worked hard for it," Justin interrupted, his smirk widening. "Drinks, dancing, even let me carry her out when she could barely stand. Got to say, Elias, you've got excellent taste. She's got all the right curves."
Heat flooded my cheeks. "Stop talking! Why are you doing this?"
