My treatment session began two days after our last encounter.
This time, consciousness slipped away from me entirely while strapped to that chair.
Normally those haunting memories would surface during the procedure, but now there was nothing. Just empty darkness swallowing me whole.
Michael stood beside the treatment table when I finally stirred, methodically wiping down the equipment. Bonnie lounged on the nearby sofa, watching me with an unsettling expression that made my skin crawl.
"Finally awake. How are you feeling?" Her voice dripped with false concern.
I had zero interest in entertaining this woman's games. My focus shifted immediately to the window, scanning the treeline for any sign of Jimmy. Had he managed to get close enough to see what was happening?
"Looking for something specific?" Bonnie pressed.
I couldn't hide my irritation. "You obviously hate my guts, so why pretend otherwise? Drop the act already."
