Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Moonlight Festival

As the sun sets, Elio is sitting on the porch of his cottage waiting for his boyfriend, Alec. As the night starts to set, Elio is checking his watch. 8:05 pm, it says, he grows worried about him.

"Where is he? He's never usually this late?" Elio says to himself. He fiddles with his fingers in anticipation.

Meanwhile, Alec is starting to run outside of town towards Elio. Alec dressed up in a blue and green plaid shirt and business shorts, the best outfit he owns.

"I'm so late. I hope he isn't upset."

Alec quickly turns a corner, holding his hand onto a fence. He reaches Elio's cottage, noticing Elio on the porch. Elio doesn't notice him right there. Alec checks his tail and notices it fluffed up, and pats it down. He rubs his ears, and it twitches when he touches it. Alec takes a breath and turns the corner. Elio looks up and waves to him. Alec blushes while his tail wags in excitement. He starts running up to Elio and trips when he reaches the porch. He notices Elio in a green top covered by a dark green capelet with long green pants. Alec blushes a bit at the outfit, which complements Elio's tan skin and long blonde hair.

Alec blushes, trying to make eye contact with Elio, "H-Hey, Elio. I love your outfit."

"Thank you. You look very handsome, Alec," Elio responds. He lifts Alec's chin and kisses him on the forehead, causing Alec to wag his tail in happiness.

"Thank you! Come down to the festival with me. You promised." He grabs Elio's hand and tries to pull him down the steps.

Elio playfully pulls back, stopping Alec from dragging him along, "Careful, Alec. Not all of us have as much energy as you do."

Alec turns around to Elio, still excited, "But these festivals don't happen every day. I want to make the most of it."

"Let's be careful, though." Elio places his hand on Alec's cheek lovingly.

Alec smiles, "Okay. Let's go."

Alec pulls Elio down to the Moonlight Festival, a yearly Werewolf festival to commemorate the cultural value werewolves bring to their town. Alec looks forward to this festival each year and hopes to share it with Elio, who felt he never belonged to this festival due to being an Elf and not a Werewolf. As Alec pulls Elio down the hill, he unknowingly lets go of Elio's hand and trips and falls flat on his face, his ear twitching a bit.

"Are you okay?" Elio asks him with a mix of shock and worry.

He bends down a bit, and as Alec pulls himself up, Elio helps lift Alec by wrapping his arm around Alec's arm.

"Yep! I'm good!" Alec quickly says as he stands up. Elio lets him go, letting Alec regain his balance, "Let's keep going."

"O-Okay," Elio hesitantly says. Alec starts walking but limps a bit, "You sure you're okay? You look like you're in pain."

"Yep, never been better." Alec continues limping a bit, trying to bring Elio to him. Elio stops him from continuing, and Alec turns around, confused.

"Let me check your legs first. You know I don't like seeing you in pain."

"C'mon, El. I'm fine. You need to stop worrying so much."

"You're limping. So clearly you're not fully 'okay'. C'mon. Plus, I'm your boyfriend; it's my job to worry." Elio starts dragging Alec back to his place, with Alec resisting his help.

"C'mon, El. I don't need to be checked out. I'm fine." He keeps trying to resist.

"If you don't accept now, I'll just try harder to check you out."

Alec sighs, relenting, "Fine…"

He lets Elio bring him back to his place. Elio places him on the couch and rolls up Alec's shorts, revealing his kneecaps to be slightly bruised. He orders Alec to stay there and walks into the bathroom, grabbing some alcohol wipes and some bandages. He walks back to Alec, who is still on the couch, looking visibly bored.

"You ready?" Elio asks him.

"I guess," Alec responds, his hand placed below his chin, still visibly bored. Elio places the alcohol wipe onto Alec's bruise, and Alec whimpers a bit.

Elio starts laughing, "Did you seriously just whimper at me?" He flicks Alec's forehead, "Dork."

Alec rubs his forehead, "I'm not the one causing the pain here."

Elio laughs a bit harder at Alec, causing him to blush a bit. Elio then wraps the bandage individually around both of Alec's legs.

Elio then holds his hand out to Alec, "Are you okay to head down to the festival?"

"Yes, please."

Alec gets up, and Elio starts walking with him down to the festival. As they walk down, they look at the trees that cover the sides of the path. When they reach the festival, they see a bunch of lanterns hanging above them under the moonlight, giving a magical effect to their surroundings. They walk past some of the stands and over to an area with some calming music and a dance floor, with lanterns hanging over the dance floor. Elio leads Alec onto the dance floor.

Elio faces Alec, smiling, still holding Alec's hands, "You ready?"

Alec blushes, "Yes."

Elio takes the lead, holding Alec close to him. The two of them start dancing for a few moments, and Elio looks down at Alec, who is holding his head to Elio's chest.

"How are your legs feeling?" Elio asks him while still dancing.

Alec looks up, smiling a bit, "Better, but they still hurt a bit.

"How about you be more careful next time? I can't always be there to fix you up."

Alec chuckles a bit, "I will make no such promise."

"Of course you won't," Elio laughs.

They continue dancing for the next few minutes with Elio leading. When they finish dancing, they start checking the stands. Alec notices a stand selling macarons. He quickly walks over, guiding him there. He buys two macarons, one for both of them. He hands Elio a vanilla macaron, Elio's favorite, and takes a bite, salivating at it.

"Must be good, huh?" Alec asks him, holding a blueberry macaron for himself.

"Yes," El responds, salivating.

"Come on, I have a spot to show you."

"Where are we going?" Elio asks him.

"You'll see."

Alec and Elio finish their macarons, and Alec takes Elio by the hand and leads him into the forest, the trees getting denser the further in they go. They eventually reach a secluded area of the forest, and Alec leads him to an opening with a rock in the middle.

"It's so beautiful…" Elio tells him, amazed, looking around at the opening, seeing the trees surrounding them, creating a shadow around them. Alec leads Elio to the rock.

"I heard there should be some rare animals around these parts," Alec tells him, leading him to the rock. They sit on it, holding each other's hands, and start talking.

"You know, this has been a great three months that we've been together, but it feels like forever," Alec tells him.

"You sure? 'Cause I remember our first day like it was yesterday, 'Elio, I-I loaf you…' " Elio mimics Alec.

"Oh shut up, I was nervous." Alec lightly punches his shoulder.

Elio grabs his shoulder playfully, "Ow. That might leave a bruise."

Alec snorts at Elio's response, "You dork, I didn't even hit you that hard."

Elio suddenly leans in to kiss Alec, catching him by surprise, and he kisses him back. They kiss for a minute, then a baby wolf walks out from the forest into the opening, causing Elio to notice and stop kissing Alec.

"Why did you stop?" Alec asks him, curiously.

Elio keeps looking at the wolf, "Check that out, Alec." He points to the wolf. Alec looks over to see it and notices the wolf as well. He starts looking at it with amazement. "Omg that's adorable."

The wolf walks over to them and starts licking Alec's leg, causing him to laugh.

"I think it likes you," Elio tells him, rubbing Alec's back.

Alec smiles at the wolf, still licking him as he gets down off the rock onto the ground and pets it. The wolf flops to the side, revealing its belly, and Alec rubs it. In the distance, the mother wolf barks towards it. The baby wolf looks up and jumps, running to its mother. The wolves walk away, leaving Alec and Elio alone.

Elio looks at Alec, caringly, "Ready to head home?"

"Yes, but I wish this moment could last forever."

"Me too."

The sun finishes setting, and they get up and start walking back to town, looking at the trees around them while talking, where Alec walks Elio back to Elio's cottage. The two exchange a hug and a kiss, and Alec walks home to his apartment.
